Since this RP does not follow the cannon storyline of One Piece, it falls to us the players to come up with our own adventures and plots to follow and take place in. With everyone involved we can have a constant and steady stream of interesting events and stories taking place such that, the crew always has something going on or to see to, and the RP is never boring.
The point of this thread is for us to brainstorm ideas for potential story arcs we could do in the future of the RP. Whatever ideas you may have that the crew could do, feel free to post them here and hopefully we can have a great list to use for ideas and inspiration. Don't forget to include other people and their ideas within your own, as this is not a one-person RP! The more we work together, the more and better ideas we can gather, and the more interesting and fun these stories will be if and when we get to them. Usually the mark of a good storyline is one in which everyone is involved, everyone has something to do, and everyone has fun and wants to read.
If you can follow these guidelines then we're off to a good start already. If not, we're all in this together, and we're all willing to help! So, without further ado, post your ideas for the RP!

Well, before the MG RP, well, died, we had the idea of a mind/body switching arc running around. I think we should wait with that one, though....

Yeah that one seemed like a legit one, and it wouldn't be too hard to do. In fact, it could be used during the spanse of a bigger plot. From manga ground, that we never got to do, here are my submissions; 1. Two kingdoms are at war, leading to much pain, strife, and injustice. The reason is trivial, but the fighting and bloodshed is nightmarish. Regardless of the rewards involved, as simple civilized beings our heroes take it upon themselves to restore order and avert genocide.
Things must be handled with care though, for on the periphery of the conflict is the ever watchful Marines, ambitious pirates, and conspiring powers that be. And indeed as terrible as the conflict currently is and is to become, there lurks in the shadows an unseen and greatest enemy, seeking the demise of not only both kingdoms, but the world itself.
---
2. Piracy is a lucrative business, widespread across the world! And why not the sky as well?
Approximately 14 years ago the 'King of the Sky', Proteon, gave his life to avert the cataclysm known as The Unending Day. In his passing was left an absence of order or control, and now four factions designated by methods of travel, vie for dominance of the bloodstained sky itself. The Navy has tried to intervene, only to be bested in strength and numbers. Instead they have pulled back, creating a literal quarantine of suspended platforms in the clouds, beneath the strongest area of fighting. The issue has been given of the highest priorities, viewed as a potential threat to seas below, should this fighting spread and make the Grand Age of Piracy all the more chaotic by spanning not just under and above water, but the very sky itself.
Behind all this chaos though, persists rumors of a vast treasure left behind by Proteon himself. An odd doppleganger to the famous One Piece, Sol as it has come to be called is not necessarily a treasure of wealth or sentimentality, but supposedly the pinnacle of power, said to hold untold strength to control the air in the same way that similar objects, Pluton and Poseidon can control the seas. Something of incalculable promise attracts more than just the imaginings of ambitious pirates, both blue sea and sky.
Through and through it all, between the violent conflict between factions, rampant piracy, and heavy marine intervention, life continues and the people manage to get by. Of course whether it's the lowliest peasant or the mightiest warlord, all who come to these parts are plagued by the one important, unknowable question; Who is Ashfall?
---
3. I'm sure you've heard the stories, of the island stolen from the world. From much smoke and fire rose a new land from the depths to take its first breath. But like some cruel hand of fate or decision of gods, whatever promise and hope the new land may have had was stolen away by a great wall of wind and water rising from the depths further still to seal the island away from the rest of the world. There it stands to this day, blocking off a huge portion of the Grand Line and preventing travel, for those to have seen the attempts to traverse the region know there is no return.
Unknown to the world however, the island thrives with activity and life. For therein live anyone unfortunate enough to have been trapped inside, from whence there is only one known escape. Not that anyone has ever actually made it. For to seek the exit would mean partaking in the twisted, sinister game of the strange figure who rules over the island. A competition, a race of sorts, between everyone stranded within the wall to see who can find the greatest treasure of all... a way out.
Winning the game is not the hard part though, it's accepting the prize.
---
4. The crew is captured somehow. How, we can figure out later. But anyway, they are transferred to a large high-security government research facility, where high-tech/top-secret projects take place. Not like Vegapunk's domain, but the idea is similar.
While there, the crewmembers would be subject to all kinds of strange/terrible experiments, including being pitted against artificial monstrosities, to intensive research.
The true purpose as the crew eventually finds out, is to construct a series of Government super-soldiers, based on the crewmembers. The soldiers themselves would be strange amalgamations of the crew members, such as a dragon cyborg (Takai and Wolf's traits).
Obviously the crew would escape in a daring sequence, and on escaping, learn of their doppelgangers. And wish to track them down and destroy them for obvious reasons.
The point of this wouldn't be to have them right away go and kill all the clone-soldiers, but over the course of the RP, encounter them, as 'boss' type enemies. Such as something like an Enies Lobby arc, where the enemy is the Government or Marines, and among their top ranks is one of these warriors.
It would be pretty neat I think, having the different ones show up at certain points, and crewmates having to work together to exploit each others strengths and weaknesses, which the clone/soldier/things would share.

A mind switch arc would be a lot of fun. As you said though, Kaosu, it wouldn't happen for a long time. We would to have to establish the characters enough for people to be able to, well, play other characters.
I freaking love your arc ideas, Shark. You're pretty much the reason why Around the World was my favorite arc back at OPHQ; you write the best scenarios. I do remember these from Mangaground but I'll talk about them again.
1. This is pretty sound. It could be mixed in with someone else's idea as well. It could lead to a lot of moral dilemmas, especially if both sides are ethically unstable.
2. Sounds like I could be reading about it in a One Piece Wiki. Honestly, it's that good. It seems to me like the perfect arc. We could carry it over several threads and make it into sort of an epic. I love the idea of "Sol." It's similar enough to something one would find in One Piece without being entirely subject to canon.
3. This one I just want to play soooooooo bad. But that's the same with all of these, really. I'm really excited to see how one NPC can keep all the other characters occupied. And accepting the prize is the hard part? Scary.
4. This could work extremely well with the cast we've got (Wolf being tied to Vegapunk and Kusu seeking out the Marines). However, as with the mind switch idea, it likely shouldn't happen until a bit later when the characters are more developed. Otherwise, it's fantastic. I would love to see a Z/Dunkan hybrid that has fifteen different personalties. No, but seriously, it would be very cool.
To be quite frank with you all, I haven't come up with an arc idea whatsoever. I decided to have my previous character Hil taken away by the Marines to give Kusu a reason to be a pirate again (and so that I'd play one character only) but that's the fullest extent of what I've got so far. Fortunately, the character of Wolf gives me a reason as to why the Marines would seek the crew out itself. But that's all I've got. I've got a goal and reoccurring villain and that's it.
But that's where you guys come in. I really want to be able to have you guys carry the story forward. The best stuff we've done has always been unexpected and totally unplanned. So, in a sense, I want you guys to make the stories so that we're not coasting along a predetermined track. So thanks for making this thread, Shark.

I love all of sharks idea. Especially the copy one, omfg that'd be great. But like CJ said, only later.
I think we can do the third idea now though. It'd be a good way to make this newly formed crew start to mesh. They'll find out each other's strengths and weaknesses and do some character development through all the tests and trials and final battle to escape.
By "now" I mean next thread.

I freaking love your arc ideas, Shark. You're pretty much the reason why Around the World was my favorite arc back at OPHQ; you write the best scenarios. Don't give me all the credit, Around the World was so great, entirely because you, Funkfreed (man I miss that guy), and other people helped. Really though, I hope I'm not overstepping myself when I say I think it was the best arc we did. It's a shame Sprite's idea for a similar epic arc on Manga Ground fell through when he vacated the site. --- I would say for clarification, that the second idea I had, I intended it for something later down the line. It's pretty much my magnum opus in terms of the RP as a whole, and given it taking place mostly in the sky, the idea for it came to me back on Manga Ground when Miselius said we needed a way of crossing the Red Line into the New World, without remaining true to the cannon (i.e. no Fishman island). Well the ideas I had then were, go under the Red Line, like some deep sea trench exploring arc, go through the Red Line, like Journey to the Center of the Earth, literally go over it, as in walk over it (Mise suggested a stealth arc where the crew sneaks right through Mariejoa), or fly over it. I ended up settling on flying over (at least, my favorite way of crossing it), which ended up developing into the arc you saw described above. So ideally, it would be saved for if and when we cross the Red Line. Then again, it could be used whenever so that doesn't matter much. The same somewhat goes for the third idea of the stolen island. But only for the fact that it involves one NPC, a familiar old face from the past of the RP, which would actually jive better in the New World itself. But this is not so confined as the second idea, I mean I would like the third idea to take place later on as it would be more humorous. But that's such an insignificant hang-up, that if we wanted to do the third idea, the very next arc, I'm fine with that. Also I had one other idea I forgot to mention, another idea for an arc/story. A horror-based plot, while the crew are traveling the seas, strange things start happening on the boat, and in getting to the bottom of it, it becomes clear that something is not right among the crew itself, and someone may not be who they appear to be. This idea was suspense/horror based, and it could be like a short transition arc while the crew are traveling between islands. --- I think the important thing to realize with most of my ideas here, is that they aren't so much single-idea based, so much as they are as CJ said arc based. As in, I have a working idea for the running story of what could span several threads, and it is during the threads that we play normally, encounter problems normally, etc... while the background story is just a minor focus. Now over the course of the whole arc, the story will come to mean much and be important, but at any given time, it's just something in the background. Essentially, the ideas I had, would more or less only serve as the backdrop, the scenery on the stage, and as players we'd continue the scene around it. So I would ask for the help from everyone as players to contribute and participate, their ideas, NPCs whatever. Because for most of my ideas, things like a "Sky arc" or a "Stolen Island arc" are huge places, wherein entire smaller arcs can take place. So if we were to say, choose the Stolen Island arc, I would portray the overall plot, but I would love for people to come up with their own ideas for plots that could take place ON the island while the main story is going on, or during the progression of the main plot. Like, one person comes up with an enemy crew, or someone comes up with a plot with a need to steal some artifact, or someone comes up with an idea for a plot that one of the crew gets kidnapped. Again, I would just be providing the major theme and locale, while you guys flesh out the story and what happens (I'd help too of course). This is the way I always do things, including the Around the World story. This is my belief as to why Around the World was so great, because as I said before, I had the massive help from amazing players like CJ, Funkfreed, and others.

Hm, 'bout the duplicates idea, if we ever get around to it, could be an independent group outside the hierarchy of the Marines/Government, or at least something that certain key members of the two organizations are unaware of?
If you read my profile, Sengoku as well as the Gorosei have intervened on this version of Takai's behalf before he could be turned into a weapon for either organization. They have their reasons, and it'll be linked to a plan I have for Takai.
Maybe the group that captures the crew could consist of members that opposed their decision? It would be rather weird to have that back story for my char and then have something like this happen....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like the idea of a horror/suspension arc. Main problem is, I suck at horror in any form. I tend more to the lighthearted genres, though I can appreciate either. Most I can do are things like Alucard would do, and that's more in the direction of 'HOLY CRAP, THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!', rather than 'I think I just wet myself.' I know I might exaggerate a bit, but that's how it is...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also liked the time-travel idea that was (hopefully not) the death sentence for the MG RP, though I fail to see how that could be accomplished right now.
That, or maybe some kind of AU-arc... Y'know, different circumstances, what-if'S and such...

Certainly, the person who I was planning on having in charge, CJ (or appropriately, Connor) should be distinctly familiar with, but holds no great love of either the Government OR the Navy.

And it was a bummer Sprite left when he did. That arc had really great potential. If someone else doesn't come up with a more convincing idea for the next arc, we might want to go with one of yours, Shark. I agree with crocoduck in that the third idea would likely be the best to do now, though it could be just as long as you planned. Also, it just occurred to me that we could end up doing a side thread for other stories (example, Around the World). If anyone wanted to do another sort of arc, not involving our main cast, we could consider it.

That's true, every RP we've done has had a side thread(s), so the NPCs can get some light. Or for anyone else really.
We would need an idea to do for that as well though. Traditionally it's always opened up with a Government meeting lol.
Alternatively, CJ, we could finish the progression Beth/Connor were going through in the Grand Path, we never did get all the way through with that. On the other hand, we never did get Conor's body back, either way, just some ideas off the top of my head.

On the other hand, we never did get Connor's body back, either way, just some ideas off the top of my head. We never did do that! Quite honestly, we could start in the beginning of one of those fights. I honestly forgot what number we were on. I know Beth was higher than Connor technically. I might want to change their characters a bit if we were to do that as well. And... a Government meeting's always been a fun start. Though honestly we might want to do that a bit later, once everyone is settled with their current characters.

My only argument for a Government meeting start would be that it would be a good medium for which to explore and establish things for this new RP we've made. As in, we can suss out if we want to have RP warlords/yonkou, who's in charge, if any characters are making a return, etc...
In terms of Grand Path fights, Beth had mercilessly, brutally, and regretlessly murdered Tomahawk, so technically she was at #3 position, meahwhile Connor was at 6 I believe, though he was out of a body. So after Beth had offed Tomahawk, that's when they set about getting the body back.
If I remember correctly, since the whole point of that adventure was to more or less retrace the steps of Around the World to get Connor his body, the crew had only just left Jaya after being conned by Macavity, so they were on their way to the ruins of Clockwork Tower/Island, where in the original thread Connor got kidnapped and almost force married, and Arch had to rescue him. It was at the end of that island that Connor actually died if I remember, so they then set out for Colyne.
SO RECAP, if we were to pick up where we left off, then I imagine the crew would be leaving Mock Town and headed for what's left of Clockwork Island.

That's very true. If anyone else is reading this thread, please consider the possibilty of another Government Meeting thread. It could open up a lot of possibilities for the RP.
We could introduce the thread in the middle of them examining the wreckage of Clockwork Island, to kind of get things rolling. I'm not against continuing where we left off but it could definitely get things going. If you had things planned on the way there though, Shark, I would be up for starting where we left off.

Some other ideas I just came up with in my spare time; 1. A country wracked by bloody civil war, it was not until a play for power for said country involving Government aid and intervention, was the bloodshed stemmed. Despite the scale and destruction of the conflict, the country now only a short while after has made a miraculous turnaround for the better under the direction of it's new strange but brilliant leader, becoming a veritable shining beacon of progress, prosperity, and freedom. In order to celebrate this glorious reversal of fortunes, the country has opened it's doors and planned a grand showcase, inviting all manner of delegates, high ranking officials, royalty, and even celebrities from all over the world to the event with the intention of reestablishing itself as a primary member and contributor of world order.
Having received only a simple invitation revealing little and leaving much to the imagination, what wondrous sights, sounds, and happenings await our characters should they choose to delve into the recesses of the mind of man with an impossibly insane dream, and explore the world he has created for this dream?
2. A grand pirate summit is called by a most famous individual. It seems crews from the world over are flocking to attend, and find out what this whole event is all about. Naturally our characters are inclined to attend, if only out of obligation or curiosity. All seems well at first, but when the proceedings take a turn for the worst and the crew is pinned as enemies they are faced with the impossible opposition of all the pirates attending from across the world. Against such odds there is only defeat or worse, but another route presents itself; if they are quick and careful can the crew make it across the country and reach the coast, to the freedom and escape of their ship, while practically every pirate in the world is hot on their heels and out for their blood?
Better start running!
3. The Grand Linean Jobbe; in which, the crew is contacted by a certain weighty individual to hold true to their namesake, and perform some actual piracy for once and hunt down a target of value. The question is, who's really being hunted? Perfect deals are seldom all they seem after all.

As per ticky's request, I set about working up a plan for a western arc. In a land to the west as the compass points, life is rough for all who pass through, rougher still for those who stay. Rolling plains stalked by bandits, verdant forests prowled by hostile wildlife, and sweeping deserts wracked by storms. Somehow people manage to scrape together a living, and deal with life as it comes at them. When a prolific prison break occurs however, more than inmates are let loose, the most dangerous of which; a simple secret. Perhaps the greatest heist of all time, left unfinished, still waiting to be completed by someone to shower them with the greatest of all rewards. In order to prevent this priceless treasure from falling into the wrong hands, our characters (with the help of certain familiar cowboy doctor) must head for the horizon to where the sun dies in order to find that unclaimed treasure; the chance to catch a falling star.
