Ah, alright! Again, it is was just the build up that I was worried about. This should be good. Though I wonder if others will check this thread HINT HINT.

I already gave my opinion on it, but sure, I'll participate.

I've finally got these written down. Enjoy.
1. The crew finds the Marine Base of Dread Island, where Kusu’s friend Hilbrand Zuberi is rumored to be captured in some kind of experiment. They break in and are forced to confront individuals of great power, power rivaling even the strongest of the group. However, on Dread Island, things are not always what they first appear to be. (Meant to be played much later. A puzzler. Can be long or short depending on whether or not a player discovers the answer to the riddle.)
2. The crew receives a letter, telling them they’ve won the chance to gain the “greatest Devil Fruit to ever exist.” But there’s a catch. The place in which it is located transforms all those with extraordinary abilities (Devil Fruit users, the supernaturally gifted and cyborgs) into normal humans. And they’re not the only ones who got an invitation. The crew has to race to the top of Spiral Island to claim the mysterious Devil Fruit and do with it as they please. (Can be played at any time, preferably later)

Those sound lovely. I like the idea of the first one a whole lot.
Now if everyone else can make up their own ideas. Come on people, I know you can do it!

I like the regular people idea. Here is mine.
Victoria. An island that somehow manages to stay just out of the World Government's reach and is so unknown that malicious pirates only ever come upon it by accident and are never heard from again. It is an island of strange technology seen in no other land, a land covered in smog and ashes. The people dress in odd attire, speak in an odd accent, and operate odd, odd devices: Gears and cogs spin, steam shoots out, pistons move, and...things happen. Marvelous things. And yet, all is not well in this little world. One day, the crew finds a message-in-a-bottle floating at sea, and the author begs for anyone to come help his people. In Victoria, the crew will find adventure, misery, morality, and perhaps even love. Must importantly, they will stumble onto a conspiracy that not only threatens Victoria, but the entire world. Memorable adventures in the world of ash and steam are abound, and each character will find their own way to survive, whether it be in solitude or teamwork, for they do not, the raging waves of change will destroy them and everything else in the name of innovation, safety, and Arkady Industries.
Intended for main OPRP thread. Preferably not right after Jubilee Island, but being the arc after the arc after Jubilee Island (so, being the third arc) is probably acceptable, depending on how long/eventful the second arc was.

That sounds good Kuro, I like it! I could see us doing it relatively soonish then.
It's good to see everyone coming up with different ideas. It's really not that hard, and everyone has their own specialties.

I'm really liking CJ's first idea, especially with the riddle and such. Just for the record, my favorite sorts of RP stories are the kind that gives some challenge to the players themselves, instead of just having a specific outcome established from the beginning. Which is why I also like arcs that have lots of twists or let the players have a hand in determining how it all turns out.
So yeah, I also like Kuro's idea. An island/story like that could be interesting and engaging for everyone, which I'm all for.
And just so you know, I've been following the main RP thread, but I won't post any plot ideas until I get a better understanding of how the dynamics of the crew work, so I can come up with something that everyone can have an important role in.

Pfft I wouldn't worry about that too much kylor, approximately 90% of the plots I had in this thread were made before this current RP, most of these Current characters, or even this current site existed. I don't think they're terrible ideas, and I made them with no attention to a crew in mind.
Mainly because I didn't want to create a story which could only be completed by a certain people, and literally the story is like a lock, in the shape of the members of the crew. I like the things I do to be believable to exist in the setting and that the story had been going on before the crew gets there and it will continue after they leave.

In general, yes, but I still like to design the details to suit the needs of the group. For instance, what aspects of a story would most interest the characters/players, and what kind of choices and challenges I need to present for each character, what sort of interactions I could potentially set up, etc. Things like that. I like to make it feel like every character has an important role to play, and what each one of them does has an impact. And, if possible, I want give lots of opportunities for the various main characters to interact and work together in different ways, so the experience doesn't feel stale and each character's story doesn't end up being too self contained. I believe that the plot should exist to serve the characters, not the other way around, if that makes sense.

It's great what you're suggesting, but in practice we've never actually been able to pull it off, not here, or even all the way back to OPHQ. Simply, unless you've got like everyone helping you out in some way then it's simply too much work. I mean it's technically possible to do, but even I'm not capable of doing the necessary work required or playing the sheer amount of NPCs you would require for that, and I've always been the Official NPC guy. Without other people to help you it's nigh impossible to reign in everyone or cater to each and every character. We've done that before, but people have broken up into separate groups or on their lonesome and written their own little adventures rather than one person custom tooling a grand storyline to serve everyone.
The example I speak of was Kuroshi's idea, the Haven Island arc where he painted the island major for us and then we pretty much ran loose and had our own little adventures and every character got a chance to shine. However he only set the stage for those chances, every one of us did our own thing. Truth be told, the Haven Island arc was great and everyone did some great stuff. As a whole though it didn't stand to the bigger, full on legit arcs. If anything it was like filler for the RP. Tasty, delicious filler, but filler nonetheless. It simply couldn't depict some grand story or plot major as you suggest.
That's not to say I intend to play you down. If you think you're up to it then by all means go for it, I wish you luck and will gladly help out however I can. I'm just going off of experience, from what I know about the RP, when I said the way I make stories the way I do. Simply, more than anything else the RP is dynamic, unpredictable. You can never plan for what people will do or how they will react, and so I don't try.
Now if everyone tries however, it can be done. The most perfect example being Around the World. Which ended up in the fashion as you describe. We had everyone's help and everyone got their own special and epic adventure. However in that story we only had 3, 4 at most players.

Yeah, which is why I'm hesitant to make any clear plans just yet. Best to wait and see how the characters fit together before I set in motion what I was planning. I will say though, that a plot that will achieve what I'm thinking would have to constantly change and evolve to suit the decisions made by the players, which, yeah, would be difficult for whatever poor soul organizes such a plot. However, I think I can improvise this sort of thing fairly well, so I'm up for it if you all are. But yes, I also agree that it would be best if everyone cooperates to some extent, so we can have a plot where the characters work together and their needs/choices don't clash with each other. It'll be a challenge to put together, for sure, but I for one welcome such a challenge!

After all you've done for this RP already? You deserve a break eventually, right? So when the time comes, you can sit back and enjoy the show...

Well, depending on how things go, I may ask for your assistance, but for the most part I think I'll handle things with as little help or planning as possible. I'd like this to be a surprising experience for everyone.
