A rookie trainer, dressed in fancy (and obviously quite expensive) clothes was parking his luxury car next to the pokemon center of Viridian City just before the explosion happened and luckily for him he managed to exit his car at the last as soon the Pokemon center went boom, which caused something heavy to drop on top of his car and crash it.
"OH! MY CAR!" The boy yelled out and ran around his now defunct vehicle for a minute or two in panic. "Guess I have to buy another one..." the boy had some soothing thoughts and calmed down after a moment. For this kid money was not an issue that was obvious. He might have been a bit young to drive a car, but then again you could drive at the age of 10 in this bizarre world.
The boy decided not to stay in the parking area for very long and got interested in what was actually happening at the Viridian city Pokemon center. He had figured out that something blew up there, but what was it? A bomb? A Pokemon using self-destruct or explosion? Or something entirely different. He decided to find out and entered the Pokemon center that was now in flames.
Inside the young trainer found tall flames and smoke, some trainers trying to put out the flames, many people panicking, some of which were hurt, as well as someone with an 'R' on his shirt. "Maybe he is an athlete for some local sports team..." he figured out about the person with the 'R'. He wasn't from around here so he did not know what the local sport teams wore, nor was he very bright apparently.
It didn't take too long for the this trainer to decide to be of use and try to help battle against the flames as many others already had been doing. "This is the perfect situation to try out my new pokemon." The trainer thought and then threw a Pokeball forward. "Scizor, come out." he said as the Pokeball hit the floor and a Scizor did come out. The trainer obviously was new to all this as despite sending out a very powerful pokemon it was the absolute worst call for this. Maybe he had no other Pokemon available, but even then sending out a bug/steel type to take on the flames was dumb to say the least. Pokemon with that typing had only one weakness and it was to fire, but they were very weak to it. "Scizor, help put out the flames." The young trainer commanded, but his Pokemon did not listen and instead fled from the flames trying to protect itself. "Scizor, put out the flames!!" The boy tried again, with a stronger voice than before, but the pokemon still ignored his orders and just ran further away.
"..."
"..."
"..."
The boy was frustrated with his Pokemon's disobedience and spent the next minute or so mumbling to himself mostly ignoring all the hassle around him.
Then it hit him: "Where did it go?!" The scizor had disappeared from his line of vision and now he had to find it in the middle of all this chaos.

The rescue efforts continued within the flaming Pokemon Center, and Lucas and his Pokemon were beginning to feel the effects of the smoke. Coughing through his shirt, Lucas looked around and saw a variety of trainers and Pokemon aiding in the situation. One trainer in particular that Lucas noticed was a male with dark blue hair. He had an Espeon, a shiny Espeon. Despite the predicament, Lucas took a few moments to himself to reflect that he had just seen a shiny Espeon. Shiny Pokemon were extremely rare and not seen on a normal basis. In fact, Lucas had only come across one other shiny Pokemon in his travels, and that was a shiny Patrat. To his chagrin, that was also owned by a trainer.
Snapping back to reality, Lucas glanced around the inferno and located his Cyndaquil, but failed to spot his Riolu. Concerned, Lucas traversed the burning debris to find his Pokemon. “RIOLU!” Lucas coughed due to smoke inhalation. He feared that Riolu got caught under falling rubble or worse. “Cyndaquil, help me find Riolu.” Cyndaquil acknowledged the situation and immediately turned his attention to the search and rescue. Lucas felt extremely guilty for abandoning the injured people and Pokemon, but he felt his Pokemon had priority.
Suddenly, there was a flash of brilliant rainbow colors coming from the direction of a Timburr, however, it was not coming from the Timburr. Perched on top of the Timburr’s trademarked log that they carry, sat a small Togepi who was emanating Signal Beam. The attack fired in the direction of a Pokemon, in which Lucas realized it was his Riolu. “RIOLU!” Lucas bellowed, but at that moment, he noticed a man in black in the same vicinity as his Riolu. It was the same man in black Lucas noticed earlier before the explosion. He was constantly staring at a female trainer with, what Lucas though, a suspicious look. Now, it appeared this man had malicious intent and Lucas now suspected the man as the cause for the explosion.
The attack hit the general area of where Riolu and the man were located, creating a force that dislodged loose rubble from the floor above. “Cyndaquil, lets go.” Lucas and his Pokemon immediately ran toward the impact zone. Fortunately, the was minimal flames as Cyndaquil easily put those out. Unfortunately, both the man in black and Riolu was nowhere to be found. What? Where are they? Did the attack send them flying? Lucas was beginning to slightly panic. He knew Riolu was self reliant and could take care of himself. He trained each of his Pokemon for situations such as this. If they ever got separated, they knew what to do. But being kidnapped was an entirely different scenario.
Lucas peered through the burning Pokemon Center could see nothing. It did appear that the last few injured people and Pokemon were being cleared, which was a good thing. Now Lucas could turn 100% of his attention in locating his stolen Pokemon.
OOC: I determined that saving the Riolu now would not provide much drama, do I decided to give the Rocket Grunt a victory in kidnapping the Riolu. For now.
OOC2: Can you all read my color fine? Should I edit it?

The girl stared blankly at Delric. Suddenly though, she smiled, as if he had given her some inspiration. She removed her backpack and stood tall. Her two Pokeballs were now clipped to her side.
"I, Paola, Fuchsia City Gym Leader, will show you all the deadly capabilities of poison Pokemon. Prepare for your dooms- Er, salvation!"
Paola flashed an enormous grin, clearly proud of her title (if only for the fact that it would make her popular in this kind of situation). She gripped onto her Ultra Ball and held it aloft.
"I summon the creature that helped me make a name for myself, the sludge master, the one and only-"
The Gym Leader threw it toward the destruction. A light emerged from the device and formed a small, lumpy thing on the ground.
It looked like a garbage bag that had leaked trash from its sides. Further inspection would reveal it was actually a small Pokemon. It did a happy twirl and posed like it was in a fashion show. Its plain eyes sparkled.
"TRUBBISH?!" Paola screamed. "No! No! No! How did I mistake this stupid thing for my Kaiser?"
She sent out the Premiere Ball. A cheerful Haunter popped out with googly eyes and a wide smile.
"Trickster!" she called to it. "Toxic that Rocket Grunt!"
"Hau Hau!" it responded with a salute.
The ghost Pokemon floated over to the Rocket Grunt, currently being dealt with by the Riolu. It brought its hands out with a laugh and unleashed a toxic gas on where the man once was. The Riolu, him or anyone else nearby would likely feel the effects of it as well. The trainer and Pokemon seemed not to care very much for people affected by their actions.
"Do you realize how useless you are right now?" Paola asked the Trubbish nearby her. It slumped downward without a sound.

The Rocket Grunt was surprised at how many trainers were actually around him. He obviously didn't think this through, but he still had a plan to get away safely. The Signal Beam attack almost hit him, but as far as anyone could tell, it might have hit Rioulu instead within all the smoke and fire.
A toxic attack came next from above, and this is when the Rocket Grunt knew he had to get out of here. Something looked eerily familiar about the girl sending out the Huanter. It was as if he had seen heard before, but he didn't stick around to find out.
He pulled a Pokeball off of his side, one he knew. What Pokemon came out was a mystery, because the instant the ball opened, a big blast of smoke went everywhere, covering the entire area.
When the smoke faded, there was nothing left where the Rocket Grunt once stood but a hole leading deep underground.
---
Within the next few minutes, the fire was put out and the Pokemon Center was cleared of all the Survivors and Pokeballs. Amazingly, there were no deaths and only a few injuries.
One of the girls who had been injured the most was now on her feet again. She was the one who had been saved by Gray and tried to warn the others of the Rocket Grunt.
She took a seat near a park bench, her hands over her eyes sobbing. She was obviously not only in pain, but distraught over the entire thing.
Once Delric saw that the fire was out and everyone was okay, he went over to Paola and smiled. "Hey, a Haunter! That is so cool! One of my favorite Pokemon..." He then stopped halfway, noting that there were more important things to talk about. "Anyway... Thanks for helping. I knew you would."
"But not everyone is okay..." he said, motioning over to Lucas. "I saw it... His Riolu was stolen. We should definitely see if we can help him!"
Delric was sure what Paola would say, or even if she was going to respond at all, but he went over towards Lucas. On his way, he took note of Jonathan, who didn't really know how to control his Pokemon as far as he could tell. He hoped he would help out anyway, in whatever way he could.
Once Delric reached Lucas, he said, "I'm Delric. I saw what happened to your Riolu! You saved all these people, so it would be wrong if I didn't help you too. My Espeon agrees with me."
Espeon brushed up against Lucas' leg, and then Delric continued.
"It was that guy wearing the black clothes and the red R..."
The girl who was sitting on the park bench not far away looked up, tears running down her face. "Team Rocket."

Still tending to the first aide of the people continually being brought out of the burning Pokemon Center, the white haired girl had stopped for a moment as she watched her Togepi Hope fire her Signal Beam at the Rocket Grunt. Apparently though the attack missed, the Rocket managing to get away. The girl sighed, her Togepi was still very young, having only hatched a very short time ago, and so she surmised that she couldn’t expect her aim to be perfect just yet, especially in low visibility conditions like this fire.
She then simply sighed, and went back to her work on the person laying before her, who had some mild burn wounds, which she was cleaning and applying some Aloe lotion to before bandaging him up. As she did this, her eyes naturally turned to Paola, who she scowled at, overhearing the girl boast that she was a Gym Leader. The white haired girl couldn’t help but scoff at this statement, muttering under her breath, “Gyms in this Region must be desperate for staff if they’re letting girls like her run one.”
Finally, finishing her work, the girl decided she would move on to other matters, like getting Lucas’ Riolu back for him, considering her Togepi had failed to do it when the kidnapping was underway. She didn’t blame her young pokemon for this, but she still felt she had an obligation to make it right. Standing up, she walked over to Lucas and from behind, set her hand on his shoulder, “Hey kid, don’t worry, I’ll help you get your pokemon back.” She then turned to her pokemon, walking first over to Atlas and Hope, kneeling down in front of them, “Hope, don’t blame yourself for losing the chance to save that Riolu. We’ll get him back, I promise. Now, I want you to try and use your Future Sight to see if you can’t track where that Rocket might have taken him. As for you Atlas, go over and see Thrym on top of that debris pile over there and take over for him. And tell him to come here while you’re at it, if you’d please.”
Once again the girl’s pokemon followed her instructions perfectly, the young Togepi, who the girl picked up and held in her arms raised her tiny arms and put them against her head as she focused intensely, her eyes once again glowing bright blue as she saw visions of the Rocket down in the tunnel he had created with Lucas’ Riolu in tow.
Atlas, the girl’s Timburr meanwhile, picked up his log, setting it against his shoulder as he jogged over to the debris pile, quickly climbing it and reaching Thrym, who was still resting on top after expending much of his energy digging the tunnel out of it. The Timburr talked to him for a bit, the two of them exchanging Pokemon speech for a bit until Thrym nodded, making his way down the pile while Atlas took over his previous duty of getting the people trapped under the rubble out. Setting his log down near the entrance to the tunnel Thrym had dug, Atlas began climbing down into the pile, where once reaching the bottom, he looked around and spotted the Mankey and two unconscious people, deciding to take the Mankey first, he dug it out from under the rubble that was covering its lower body, and then picking it up, laid the furry pokemon over his back and began to climb back out, taking the pokemon and running down the slope of the pile and then out from the Pokemon center, handing it to the girl sitting on the bench before turning around to go back.
Thrym meanwhile had come down from the pile and approached his trainer, trying his best to avoid the fire since being an Ice Pokemon, flames and intense heat were extremely bad for him. Kneeling down, the girl placed her hand on Thrym’s back and began to pet him when he approached her, to which be began to coo affectionately, “Thrym, use your Digging ability to follow that Rocket Grunt down his tunnel. You’re the only one here who is qualified for this, and you’re the strongest pokemon I have. I trust you. Now go, we haven’t a second to waste.”
The small furry pig nodded and ran over and then leapt into the hole the Rocket had created, following him down into the depths of the Earth where he would also use his powerful sense of smell to track the Rocket even once he did come up. A Swinub’s sense of smell was one of its greatest assets, and was how they found their food under the deep snowdrifts in the areas they usually lived in. Hence, they also made excellent trackers, and so for Thrym, following the Rocket wouldn’t be difficult at all, which was precisely why the girl had chosen him for the task of retrieving Lucas’ pokemon.
Then, standing up after sending him on his way, the girl, still holding her Togepi in her arms, while holding the Togepi tight with one arm, extended her other’s hand to Lucas in a gesture of goodwill, “Hi, my name’s Randy’L by the way. Sorry my Togepi couldn’t stop that guy sooner, but she’s still too young to have perfected her aim yet.” Randy’L said, rubbing the small pokemon’s head with her finger.

Gray panted heavily, bot just because he was exhausted and to get some fresh air to replace the smoke he'd inhaled. No, he was trying to control his temper. If there was one thing he hated besides trainers that didn't care for their Pokémon, it was criminals. In his anger, he slammed a fist into a charred wooden beam, causing it to crash to the ground, thankfully not causing any damage t anyone or the remains of the Pokémon Center.
Queen and Aiko were desperately trying to calm their trainer and brother in all but blood, with limited success.
"Lucas, right? Don't worry, we'll get back your Riolu. I'll do everything within my power to make sure of that... I know how you feel, actually. If I were to lose Queen or Aiko, I don't know what I'd do." Aiko leaned on his leg, while Queen climbed onto his shoulder and wrapped herself around his neck.
'Actually, this incident made me realize: I need more variety in my team. If I had a water type with me, a lot of damage could've been prevented...'

"Decent job, Trickster," Paola said. She high-fived the Haunter as it floated back to her with a glorious laugh. "Maybe next time we'll be able to actually contribute to something."
The Haunter proceeded to drag the Gym Leader's large backpack behind her as she walked up to the trainers gathered nearby. It might have been odd to see a ghost Pokemon physically interacting with an object.
Paola scoffed at Delric's comment, though her blushed cheeks might have suggested embarrassment.
"Yeah, Haunter's are cool. Whatever."
Meanwhile, "Trickster's" eyes went huge and stared directly at Lucas in apparent happiness. It hugged onto Paola's back and kept looking at the younger trainer. The Gym Leader's facial expression did not change so she either did not notice or did not care.
"Your Riolu's long gone," Paola said casually to Lucas nearby. "You're better off getting a new one than trying to look for it now."
Gray and the others were too hopeful. She had seen Pokemon stolen by Team Rocket. It was only a matter of time, in her opinion, before the Riolu was put to use for their cause. It was pointless to search.
"The real problem here is the lack of a Pokemon Center. I can't get to a PC so that means I only have access to my Haunter and this dumb, useless sack of garbage for... who knows how long! And now I've got a headache from that stupid explosion."
There was no concern about the damage or lack of medical care for Viridian City. She was merely disappointed in having to only rely on her Haunter and the sad, little Trubbish next to her feet. It sighed and rubbed its mutant garbage arms together in nervousness.
Paola's eyebrow twitched at Randy'L's Togepi. She had not heard its trainer's comment before, but something about it made her angry. Delric might remember her comment before about hating psychic Pokemon.

The rich boy had been running around in search of his Scizor for a while, but to no avail. To be honest his attempt was pitiful at best as he seemed to have no plan on how to look for it and instead just ran around like a headless chicken hoping that somehow he would get lucky and stumble upon his Pokemon. There was no strategy in this. In retrospect it wasn't necessary for him to send out send out his Pokemon, even if it didn't ran away, as the other, much more competent trainers, did a good job in defeating the flames either way.
"Hmm..." The boy stopped to think for a moment. He had noticed a hole in the ground, caused by that person with an 'R' on his shirt. Why would a pro athlete do something like that? Who knew? But the fact is that the hole was there and for the rich trainer it seemed like a logical choice that his Scizor had ran there when he had not been looking. Maybe it had, maybe the team rocket grunt had stolen it, which made at least some sens as Team Rocket was into strong and rare Pokemon but still if one thought about it more likely the Scizor was somewhere else.
And so without thinking about it too much the young trainer looked at the hole for a moment and then carefully dropped down to the hole in an attempt to find his lost Pokemon. What he would find there would probably be something else.
"Maybe this wasn't the best idea..."

Approximately 15 minutes passed and with that, the entire ordeal of the burning Pokemon Center was coming to a close. The only thing left for the citizens of Viridian City and the trainers and Pokemon was the recovery. For Lucas, a whole other ordeal was about to begin. His Riolu had been stolen by someone dressed in black. His subconscious kept repeating the same phrase. Riolu is strong. He can take care of himself. But Lucas could not get the clawing sensation that what if he failed to recover his Pokemon? His dream at protecting defenseless Pokemon would be questioned.
Thankfully, a young trainer who was in the Pokemon Center during the blaze snapped Lucas out of his stupor. The young trainer introduced himself as Delric and that he vowed to help save Riolu. “Thank you. That is very kind. So you are the trainer of this exquisite Espeon? I am quite envious.” Lucas attempted to create small talk for the distraction, but he began to notice that several other trainers began to surround him.
The first was a trainer by the name of Randy’L, who also happened to be the trainer of the Togepi. After Randy’L told Lucas of her helpful intentions, she the told her Togepi to not blame herself. Lucas did not want the young, venerable Pokemon to blame herself. Lucas looked at the Togepi, “Please do not blame yourself. Without your signal beam, I would not have known what happened to my Riolu. So thank you.”
The other two trainers that surrounded Lucas went by the names of Gray and Paola. Gray was the only one of the two who actually introduced himself to Lucas and also promised to assist in any way. Lucas thanked him and could not appreciate all of the trainers who wanted to help him. Paola, on the other hand, was both rude and disrespectful, in Lucas’ opinion. Maybe she was being a realist, but there was no way Lucas would accept losing his Riolu. “No disrespect, I am going to choose to ignore your opinion. Someone who treats their Pokemon in the manner you do is someone who deserves no respect. But it is none of my business and if you help me get back my Riolu, I would forever be in your debt.” Lucas tried to be as polite as possible. Hopefully, it work.
The girl that the man in black was interested in before the explosion was now sobbing on a park bench. She made the exclamation that the man in black was a Team Rocket Grunt. Lucas only heard small rumblings of Team Rocket, but mostly from books about their exploits in Johto years ago. He had no extensive knowledge about their dealings in the present. Upon hearing the name, Lucas felt his stomach drop a bit. “Team Rocket? I’ve heard a bit about them. They are an evil organization and have no respect for Pokemon. We need to stop them now. How do you all want to proceed?”

Randy’s Timburr Atlas had once again reached the pile of debris, which he ascended, climbing it quickly before going back into the hole and disappearing for a bit as he went down to retrieve the first of the two people still trapped underneath the rubble.
Randy’L meanwhile was still standing with the other trainers discussing what to do about retrieving Lucas’ Riolu. She stood and smiled as Lucas spoke with her Togepi who was still being held in her arms. The small pokemon blushed a bit and looked away, but continued to try and keep its concentration on tracking the Rocket with its Future Sight.
Then, hearing Paola’s incredibly offensive words, and Lucas’ reply to them, Randy’L’s face grew redder and redder as Paola’s extreme disrespect and selfishness infuriated her to the breaking point. Finally, when Lucas was finished speaking, Randy’L spoke up again, this time her voice showing just how disgusted she was with Paola’s Narcissistic behavior, “Don’t bother with this girl. She obviously doesn’t care about anyone but herself, including her own pokemon. In fact, she’d probably fit in just fine with Team Rocket.”
Randy’L then looked directly at Paola and approached her, leaning in towards her face, “I swear girl, you are the most selfish, disgraceful trainer I have ever met in my entire life. In fact, I seriously doubt your earlier claim that you are actually a Gym Leader, because no Gym Leader I know would be stupid enough to hand their Gym over to a girl like you who cares about nothing but herself. It honestly makes me sick just to look at you, so, if you’re not going to help us then why don’t you just get out of here so we don’t have to be burdened by your infuriating presence anymore?”
Randy’L’s togepi was visibly sweating as she was held in Randy’L’s arms in the rather tight space between her trainer and Paola. Over at the debris pile, Atlas once again emerged, this time carrying one of the injured victims over his back, although the person was inevitably getting dragged a bit due to Atlas’ small size. He set the person down on his log, laying them on it as if it were a stretcher before picking the log up and, holding it over his head with them on it, carefully making his way down from the pile and then out from the pokemon center, once again setting the log down next to the bench where the girl was sitting and crying, then gently removing the person before turning around one final time to go retrieve the last person.
Thrym meanwhile was still digging underground, following the Rocket who had captured Lucas’ Riolu, and actually making quite good time at doing so, to the point that it was likely he would soon catch the crook without some form of intervention, or simply the caper coming up and then using a fast vehicle of some kind to lose him. Of course the Rocket would have to actually know he was being followed first to do such a thing.

Delric was glad to see that he had rallied up a good deal of people to help Lucas find his stolen Riolu. Randy'L being one of the people who was already directly helping by sending her Timburr down into the hole created by the Team Rocket grunt.
Delric did wonder where that one trainer went, the one with the Pokemon who didn't listen to him. He was sure that trainer was just here somewhere. But Delric quickly put it out of his mind and focused on Paola.
Sure, her Haunter was cool, but... "You can't just say that!" yelled Delric. "What if it was your Haunter that was stolen? I'd help you out just the same..." He then turned back to Lucas. "But it doesn't matter to me. If you don't want to help, then leave."
Delric wasn't going to be as harsh as Randy'L was being, because deep down Delric wanted her help. But he wasn't going to talk to someone who was so empty and lacked a heart for other Pokemon Trainers.
He then turned towards the sobbing girl he seemed to be a the center of the catastrophe, and someone who also apparently knew who was behind this entire scheme.
"And who are you?"
---
"My name is Annabeth," she said, her voice still somewhat shaky. She was a young girl, maybe 17 years old. She had bright orange hair that twisted and curled over her shoulders. She wore a blue dress that had been burned and ripped from the fire, and black shoes. Her hands also had the remnants of orange gloves, and on her waist was a belt with particular hooks on them. The reason why would become obvious with her next line.
"I am a Pokemon Trainer," she said, placing a hand on the empty belt. "Just like all of you."
She unbuckled her belt and held it up for everyone to see. She laid it beside her and faced Lucas. "And it wasn't just your Riolu that was stolen." It seemed just saying those words brought up horrible thoughts in her head and caused tears to form back in her eyes.
"Team Rocket... They have been following me around for a long time now. I always had body guards to help me. But today... I didn't think anything would happen. They appeared in the Pokemon Center out of nowhere. My Pokeball went missing, and the next thing I know I'm laying on the ground. They stole it... I can't believe they stole it.."
"Hold on a minute," interrupted Delric. "What Pokemon exactly did they steal?"
"Salamence," said Annabeth, her voice cracking. "And I think I know what they're going to do with it..."
But before Delric could respond Annabeth suddenly stood up and looked at the group that had formed around her. "If you want to help me, I promise to repay you. But we need to go, and fast. I think I know exactly where that Team Rocket grunt is going to with your Rioulu and where I'll find my Salamence. Mt. Moon."
Delric took a step back. Mt. Moon? He had heard of the place. It was much further north, and as far as he knew, it was a very dangerous place... No only that, but Team Rocket had been active there before.
"It will be difficult journey, but we have to make it. I think we should follow your example," she motioned towards Randy'L, "by going down that hole. It must lead to Mt. Moon, or at least to where the Rioulu was taken to, and the Team Rocket Grunt as well."
And with that, Annabeth made her way to the hole, which was about fifteen feet wide and went down at a steep angle, just enough for a few people to march through. However, she would wait around the edge of town in case the others had to do anything beforehand. She'd be open for any questions from the other Trainers as well.
Delric himself followed her close by. His shiny Espeon followed as well, her face calm but alert at the situation. Delric did shoot a glance at Paola and hoped she would change her mind about this whole situation now that Team Rocket was involved.
It was up to her though. Just like every trainer who had a choice to make.
---
Elsewhere, the Rocket Grunt was making good speed with his Dugtrio. In his arms tied up tightly was the stolen Riolu, bound by tight ropes. His destination would not take long at this speed.
"We're making good time!" shouted the Grunt to the Dugtrio. "We'll be at Mt. Moon in no time and we can start the process!"
While Dugtrio continued to dig through the soil and rock, the Grunt could have sworn he heard some kind of sound behind him, but he couldn't see anything in the pitch blackness.
After a short while, the Dugtrio broke through some lose gravel and light shown through the hole, nearly blinding them both. They had just burrowed through the wall of Team Rockets underground operational base, located directly under Mt. Moon.
The place was huge. Team Rocket buildings covered the rocky landscape. Makeshift roads connected each set of buildings to the next. All around, Team Rocket members were performing necessary duties. A small, artificial river went through the center of the base, but it didn't seem to provide any plantlife at all, other than a few small shrubs.
In the very center of the base was a giant building with the letters "T" "R" in big red font. The building had tall windows with light shining brightly out of them, providing most of the light for the entire underground base. That building seemed to be the main operations area.
"Haha, we're here!" shouted the Grunt, hoping off of his Dugtrio. "Wait till the boss sees this prize!" He took a few steps, then froze in his place. He turned back towards the hole he had made and again he heard the sound as if someone was marching through it.
"Uhh," muttered the Rocket Grunt. "You did remember to cover the hole you made, right Duggy?"
The Dugtrio looked at him, then at the hole, and tilted his heads. "Dug."
"Darn."
---
Thrym, the Swinub that belonged to Randy'L, would have went through the tunnel easily and popped up at the base at any moment. What he would do there was up to him.
Jonathan, the other Trainer that had also descended down the hole, would come upon the same sight.
They had reached Team Rocket's base.

"Hmmm," Paola hummed in response to Lucas. "You have a point. If you do ever get him back, you should still consider getting something other than a psychic Pokemon."
She looked blankly at Randy'L. She seemed unfazed by his words, as though she had heard them many times before or understood the truth behind them.
"You know what," Paola said calmly to Randy'L, "you're right. I would fit in quite well. I'm all about poison Pokemon. I could really show Team Rocket a thing or two.
"But if you want proof of my rank, here it is."
Paola sighed and brought up a purple wallet from her pocket. She flipped it open and held it out for the others to see. The ID card and Soul Badge pinned to it said it all. Fuchsia City Gym Leader. It was as legitmate as it could get.
As she put the wallet away, the Gym Leader's eyes wandered over to Atlas who had just brought out the last injured person.
"Try hard," she muttered.
She looked at the empty belt at Annabeth's side with a strange smirk.
"A Salamence?" Paola asked with a laugh. "That's pretty rare. You should really be more careful next time there, Anjabet. I'll help you guys out since Delric here said he'd help me. What a crummy kid, though I can't guarantee I'll stay for long. Perhaps just long enough until I find another PC. Oh, and I also can't leave without annoying Frosty Hair a bit more."
The Gym Leader smiled slyly at Randy'L. She ignored Delric, Gray and the rich boy for now, though she seemed to respect Delric for some reason. It was certainly not for his choice of Pokemon. Maybe it was his assertiveness toward the whole situation.
"Trickster," Paola ordered her Pokemon, "keep on the lookout for the Salamence or Team Rocket folk. Let's see if we can recruit any Koffing, Evans or their evolved forms. Tubbers, carry my bag."
"Hau!" The Haunter saluted and floated beside her. The Trubbish lowered its body in disappointment and begin to lift Paola's huge backpack over its head with its mutated arms. It struggled as it slowly moved forward. It made small, little grunting sounds as it barely kept up with its trainer.

Lucas was beside himself at the generosity he was receiving from these strangers. He had no idea what compelled them to want to aid him in retrieving his Riolu back, but he was very grateful. Such kindness and compassion was a very rare thing to find in any region. Lucas gave a wry grin and proceeded to turn his attention to the problem at hand.
His attention was elsewhere that he almost did not hear Paola's comment about Riolu. "Um, Riolu is not a psychic type. He is fighting. Even his final evolutionary form, Lucario, is not psychic."
The girl who was sobbing introduced herself as a Pokemon Trainer by the name of Annabeth who also had a Pokemon stolen by the Team Rocket Grunt: a Salamence. A Salamence was a very powerful Dragon type Pokemon that is the final evolution of a Bagon. Lucas had never seen a Salamence in person, but has read about them in some encyclopedias he came across. He has, however, come across a Bagon during his travels through Unova. The Bagon had belonged to a trainer who just landed from Hoenn. Bagons are very spirited Pokemon which share the same dream of soaring the skies. To dispel its frustration, Bagons slam their heads into objects. Lucas wanted one.
Once again, Lucas allowed his inner thoughts to freely roam. Annabeth continued with her story as she predicted that Team rocket was currently stationed under Mt. Moon. Without letting his thoughts stray once again, Lucas made a mental note of the rumors surrounding Mt. Moon.
Lucas turned to Annabeth, “I’m definitely going and while my main priority is my Riolu, I will do whatever I can to help you and your Salamence.” As she walked over to the hole and waited for everyone in the group.
Without hesitation, Lucas walked over to the hole and kneeled next to Annabeth. Since he was about to walk into a danger zone, Lucas felt that he may need more Pokemon, however, since the Pokemon Center has been destroyed, locating another PC would take too much time. That was something he could not afford. So his Cyndaquil, Shinx, and Zorua would have to suffice. He had complete confidence in his Pokemon and knew they would get the job done.
Lucas released his Cyndaquil from his Poke Ball. “Hey Annabeth, I assume you will want to lead the way, and if you like, Cyndaquil can walk in front of you to light the way. I am sure the flame on his back will provide enough light. I also have a flashlight in my bag.”
“Cynda.” Cyndaquil gave his not of approval and Lucas looked down at his Pokemon. “Are you ready to go on an adventure and get Riolu back?”

Gray released his Pokémon.
"Queenie, Aiko, we're going down this hole to follow that Rocket bastard who has stolen two precious friends to these two." He motioned to the two kneeling younger trainers beside the hole. "I want both of you to stay alert at all times and react to everything that might be a threat."
"Bre." "Ser." The two saluted. Gray chuckled at the sight, then climbed into the hole, his Pokémon following closely.
"You guys and gals coming? Don't want to hog all the fun in beating up that idiot."

"Why did I ever decide to come here?" The rich boy kept on wondering shortly after having entered the rocky tunnel and walking in it for a couple of minutes. It was dark, it was cold and it was dirty, just something what you should have expected. After wandering forward a bit more the young trainer started to seriously doubt that his Scizor had ever went into a place like this. He wasn't an expert in the behavior of Pokemon, in fact he barely knew anything about it, but still it it seemed really unlikely that his Pokemon would be drawn towards a place like this.
"I should turn back." The trainer thought as he had advanced a bit further, but ultimately he didn't do so and just kept walking forward. He did not really know why maybe there was something interesting a bit further away and he wanted to at least get something from jumping down here, more than just bad memories.
And soon he would find out that there was something interesting in there, the young trainer could see a large building underground as well as some sort of hairy pig Pokemon that had been digging it's way towards there. "Why is there something like this in here?" The boy wondered as he gazed upon the building that read 'TR'.
He had gotten so far so might as well check it out, he thought, walked towards the building and just opened the door and marched in trying to figure out what was inside. That definitely wasn't a smart move to make and he would soon find out why.
