Once upon a time, Shark and I did a thread.
This thread was a side story, one that went completely separate from the main thread of the RPG back at OPHQ. Since we're able to RP in a forum setting again, we've decided to continue it again.
The story, as it stands, is about a couple named Connor and Beth Anderson who defeat opponents who are part of a group named the Grand Path. The prize for overcoming the Grand Path is "the chance to become of an Emperor of the Sea."
If you all have heard of a game called No More Heroes for the Wii, it's very similar to that.
As it stands now, the group is traversing the sea to try and find a way to recover Connor's body before they continue on the Path again.
Shark suggested what made previous side threads work was the addition of unexpected players and characters. If any of you are interested, I highly recommend you read a bit of the posts Shark and I will make in the next few days. If the thread is something you might want to join in, go and make a character.
It's a definite departure from the usual kinds of stories we do but it's a lot of fun.

The important thing to keep in mind, is that this thread, in general these side threads will take place separate of the main RP with the main characters/crew. It will be the same setting, time period, etc... usually just happening somewhere else in the world. Traditionally these side threads have focused on NPCs, to give them some screentime and depth, to focus on their actions so we can get a bigger glimpse at the world and what is going elsewhere from the main crew.
As well, these side threads tend to be more directed, unlike the main RP which is more open-ended. That is, these threads usually have a fairly clear goal that is usually specified from the beginning, and the story is comprised of the characters in this working towards it. Hence why the stories and adventures in these side-threads tend to be more "epic" in scope; the characters here don't just pass from island to island and dealing with the problems they come across, that's the realm of the main crew. In these threads, it's usually a case of "Prevent the bad guys from destroying a country" or "Pursue a trail of clues to finding a secret island full of amazing treasures", typical grand plots, and the characters try and hang onto the crazy whirlwind of activity that follows. The idea is since these NPCs and side characters can't get as much screen time as the crew, we aim to make up for it by giving them really memorable stories.
So the only thing you need to keep in mind if you would like to participate, is these simply general "rules";
1. Try to use a side character rather than a main one, even if that means creating a new character from scratch. It's totally fine to use an established main character, but keep in mind this is not a second RP. The stories here don't follow after each other, it's new characters and adventures every time.
2. The intent is to keep with the general theme of the plot, usually the one laid down at the start of each story. As such, expect to move at a fast pace, and if need be have to skip things you may want to do. As a general rule this is never much of an issue, but there isn't much room for deviating from the main plot.
3. Seeing as in these threads we do pretty much anything we want, ranging from a single fight, to an epic journey, the length of these stories can be quite variable. Since there can only be one of these stories/threads going on at any given time, it's fine for people to join in, but only at certain intervals. Such as, when reaching a new place, rather than new people just dropping in whenever they feel like.
I think that should pretty much cover the basics for the side threads, what do you think CJ? I'm sure we'll encounter more things as we go along, but for starters. Something to keep in mind while reading this; though we may seem more strict (with rules and such) about the side threads than the main RP, it's just a formality really. The main idea here is to tell a story, and as long as you're interested in tagging along and participating, then these side threads can be much more open-ended, and even sometimes more epic, than the main RP.

You hit it right on the head, Shark. Thank you for being so clear about everything. You always do a better job of that than me.
I can't think of anything else we'd need to cover. If we do though, we'll post them here.

Holy hell I am mad it wouldn't let me use the full title for the thread, I could only get in one part, a single sentence!
Don't we traditionally have at least two lines per thread title?

I'll try to fix that later. I'm sure there's a way to extend thread titles.
And thanks for posting!

Something else to consider, are we returning any of the Trump Siblings for this?
At the very least, Honey Queen factored quite a bit into Connor's story in the original thread. I guess I'll leave that up to you as it's your characters, as to whether they, or just one of them make an appearance.
