Read this link first: www.firstshowing.net/2013/marvel-plans-planet-hulk-movie-world-war-hulk-for-avengers-3/So, with that in mind, what do you guys think? Hulk is my favorite character in the Marvel Universe, and I enjoyed his stand alone movies and his part in The Avengers. I also recently read Planet Hulk and War World Hulk (Planet Hulk is absolutely amazing, read it even if you don't like comics), and I think a stand alone movie for Planet Hulk would be AMAZING. I'll give my opinion on what should happen: 1. Avengers 2 happens. At the end of the movie, they send Hulk into space because of how big of a threat and how uncontrollable he is. 2. Stand along Hulk Movie: Planet Hulk. It details his life on the new planet and how it eventually leads him back to Earth. 3. Avengers 3 happens. Basically World War Hulk. I would fall in love if they would take this route. I can't even start to say how amazing Planet Hulk would look on the big screen with modern cg effects, good voice overs for Hulk, and the story expanded on. What do you guys think?

The Hulk is one of my least favorite comic book characters. Sorry lol.
I'm not sure how they could market the second idea though, it sounds like a sci-fi environmental opera, but PLUS THE HULK!
Whatever they do, I hope they use Edward Norton, I did *not* like Mark Ruffalo.

Yeah, marketing it is a different story. Hulk is popular, but not as much as guys like Iron man or Spiderman. Probably just something I want to happen, but probably never will.
Also, I take back the Avengers 3 movie idea. World War Hulk, looking back, was pretty terrible.

I like our dear friend, Hulk. He's easily one of the best characters Marvel has. I could spout off the many reasons but let me simply say now that I like him, merely for what I'm about to say.
There should never be another Hulk movie.
I know that sounds blasphemous but let's be real here. The average movie goer wants to see Hulk. They don't want to see Banner. I loved the Incredible Hulk but it's clear why it isn't as dearly beloved as some of the other Marvel movies. Put simply, the differences between Banner and Hulk are what kill any potential for a great Hulk movie. It's hard to relate to a rampaging beast who suddenly shifts to a normal person when things aren't as exciting in the movie.
That being said, Avengers was the best Hulk movie. Why? Because he could play off other characters.
Don't get me wrong, Hulk on his own can work in a comic book medium. However, general audiences need a way to communicate with the character to understand him without the pacing and care a comic book can give. They like seeing well liked and loved characters interact with him because, since they understand those characters, they can understand him. If instead of Captain America, Liv Tyler told Hulk to "smash," it wouldn't be as funny. In turn, we can fear him by seeing Black Widow's understandable reactions whenever the slightest chance happens that Banner could change.
Again, I love our dear Hulk, but I don't trust anyone to make another good Hulk movie. Movies with the Hulk in it? Sure! But not a solo one.
Also, Mark Ruffalo swayed me in Avengers. I actually like him much better than Edward Norton, though he did a good job as well.

Have you read Planet Hulk, CJ?
In that comic, there is no banner. It's Hulk all the time. But not the mindless raging beast Hulk in the movies, but one that actually uses his mind. The audiences don't have to worry about seeing Banner, because there is no Banner.
Seriously, check out Planet Hulk if you ever get a chance. You'll understand then

I've just put it on my to do list after I've graduated. I've always been interested in reading a good Hulk story and would honestly love another good Hulk movie. I simply don't think it's going to happen though.

Yeah, check it out if you can. Before you go out and download/buy all the issues, let me know, because there is are a few comic issues from Fantasic Four that serve as an important prequel to the story.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

The problem with Hulk movies is that there's too much Hulk in them.
The most interesting and noteworthy part of the Hulk as a character was never the big green smashy monster, it was Banner. His struggle with such a destructive yet unavoidable force, a threat from within rather than an actual opponent to overcome, serves as a brilliant metaphor for something that I think most, if not all people, are confronted with in some form or other everyday. It's a story that, in some form or another, will be told as long as the human condition lasts. There are so many things that can be done with that concept, which is why Hulk has lasted this long. And yet, that story of a man's battle with his own rage, a soul haunted by what's inside him, is instantly ruined once the Hulk actually manifests. Why? Because it stops being a Banner story. The driving conflict is forced to a halt as the enemy instead becomes some other villain that the Hulk has to smash, or else the Hulk is just a run-of-the-mill monster for someone else to contain. It becomes just an action movie, except most other action films have the benefit of the battles actually serving the central conflict.
A Banner movie would be brilliant. Another Hulk movie? Just where, exactly, can we go with it? Just imagine a film where the Hulk never shows up at all, but the threat of him is always there. The film would instead focus on Banner's complete isolation in his pain, the agony of knowing that he alone is faced with this burden, and living constantly in fear of losing himself. His various speeches on the subject in the Avengers were wonderful in that regard, and I'd love to see those expanded.
Some of the best scenes in the Avengers were of the Hulk just talking to the other characters, in particular Iron Man, not just because of the wittiness of their banter, but also because of that subtext of mutual understanding, two men who are all too aware of how horrible their inner selves, their "other guys," can be, even if those deeper personalities manifest themselves in completely different ways. There's a great amount of guilt present in knowing that such darkness is inside, and no matter how hard you fight it, how much you wish it wasn't there, it's just waiting for your next moment of weakness. More of that, please.

Ky, you need to read Giant Size Hulk, it has a lot of that in it. One of the best mini comics of the Hulk ever, IMO.
Also, Banner and the Hulk are not always totally against each other. Hulk isn't just a one dimensional raging monster, although that is what the movies certainly portray. Hulk can be calm, sensitive, even fall in love. It's almost like the Hulk isn't the angry one either, and sometimes he even tries to avoid getting mad.
Even in Planet Hulk, when Banner does show up (though it's only once), he's at peace with Hulk and even enjoys some of it.
So I think there is plenty of possibility for another Hulk movie, especially one based on Planet Hulk.
I mean, Hulk may even be getting a TV show on ABC, so if he's popular enough to come back on TV, a movie isn't out of the question.
