The trailer does look awesome and I definitely cannot wait to see it. Zod looked impressive in the brief moment you see him.

So, the movie will be out in 6 days. Anyone going to see it?
I'll probably see it during the week after its released, just so the theatre isn't too crowded and I can get a good seat.
But yeah, the movie looks pretty cool.

I thought it was the Superman movie we have been wanting for a long time. It was not perfect but it was damn fine entertainment.

I get motion sick really easily.
And I mean easily. To this day I still haven't beaten Half-Life 2 because I get sick if I even play for fifteen minutes. Needless to say, this movie made me sick. Not only for the ridiculous amounts of shaky cam but for the sour plot that could have been otherwise great.
SPOILERS AHOY!
So, of course, the biggest problem with the movie is Superman's final act against Zod. Yes, Supes has done this thing before. Many argue that it's against his character to do such a thing, which it most definitely is. However, it can be done with proper care, which this movie definitely didn't do. No, even that touching scene with Lois right afterward was not enough to salvage what damage his action did. It seemed as though Supes had completely forgotten about it in the next scene.
And please don't get me started on the tornado scene. This scene is stupider than the crane scene from the Amazing Spider-man (though don't get me wrong, I liked that movie). Yes, Clark's powers had to stay a secret, but there were plenty of ways to save his father without revealing them. One way I thought of was to run into the storm, grab hold of him on the ground, use the actual storm as cover for his actions and then hide under a car or something and pretend to be found unharmed. The whole scene was freaking stupid. Even if his powers were discovered, it would be worth saving the life of his father, which is irreplaceable. Not to mention the father essentially died to save the life of the family dog. Yeesh, I love my Tobin but I know my father wouldn't die to save him, only to abandon my mother and siblings. Bad priorities.
SPOILERS END
Would I recommend it? Yes. It's a cheap summer flick which is definitely worth your time and money. Don't go in expecting another Batman Begins, however. It's a fun ride but try not to think about it too hard, else you'll start hating it.
Side note though, I will say that female Kryptonian kicked serious ass. I absolutely ate up every scene she was in. See the movie if only for her.

I didn't go to see it for the story. I don't even like Superman that much. I went to see the flashy fights, which were awesome.
Yeah, like CJ said, don't go if you want something amazing.

I loved it, easily my fav superman movie.
SPOILERS BELOW!!
will agree about the death of Jonathan though that was pretty stupid.
Zod's death didn't bother me he was about to kill innocent people and Superman had no other way to win. Zod is more experienced in battle and with no prison cell strong enough to hold him and access to the phantom zone gone it was pretty much kill or sit back and watch every human on earth die.
Plus Zod is kryptonian so they could easily bring him back by saying it was only a temporary death state as his body needed to recover with solar rays from the sun.
Also last time we see Faora she was jumping into an escape pod so she might have escaped the phantom zone
Movie could probably have done with being 5 minutes longer to see a little more of Superman's reaction to what he had done but there's always the sequel to cover that.
also anyway see that empty kryptonian pod when clark first discovers teh ship, really hope its Supergirl that was in it. When supes is watchin the american football match the comenattor uses the name stone which is the name of superhero Cyborg (Victor stone) also was fun seeing how many lexcorp stuff I could find. Really hope Lex isnt the villain of man of steel 2 though.
Overall I really liked this.

BEWARE YE, FOR MINOR SPOILERS APPROACH
I agree that there wasn't really an alternative for Supes at the end. You know who did have an alternative though? The screenwriter. They could have easily sent the baddie and his friends through the plot hole, because the screenwriter could have written it that way.
Superman is the hero we can never be. For this reason, a good Superman writer would NEVER have him kill someone unless that action was a primary plot point which was handled carefully. Humans kill people. Superman doesn't.

an interview on IGN says the original ending did plan for Zod to be trapped in the zone with the rest of his crew but the ending apparently was not received well. uk.ign.com/articles/2013/06/19/christopher-nolan-disapproved-of-man-of-steels-controversial-endingI do like the fact that they could build on this to be the reason why he decides to never kill. Cause for the most part he goes through the movie More human than kryptonian. All I know is that I'm just glad it wasnt the typical villain suicide like we got in spider-man 1 - 3.

SPOILERS
As a comics fan, but not really a Superman fan, I actually did not care too much that Superman killed Zod. At first, I was a bit shocked because that went against the traditional Superman notion. However, I thought it fit this version of Superman because I think this violent act will serve as the true beginning to Superman's "no kill" policy. He basically chose planet Earth over his true origins.
We have to realize that this version of Superman, he is still trying to find his true character. Now, if the filmmakers decide to completely ignore this act in the sequels, then I will be a little upset. But if Superman uses this as his cornerstone of "no killing" then I think it will be acceptable.
The one thing I always hated and felt that Superman was an outdated relic was the black/white approach to his character. Sometimes, there are shades of gray that has to be touched on. If Zod had lived, there is always a chance of his return, which could result in more human lives being taken. How many potential lives did Superman save just by doing what he did? It is not a question that can be answered. Just like Batman. How many people could he have saved just be killing the Joker? Is it condemnable to kill someone? No, there will always be ramifications. But I like that the filmmakers chose to go this route because this will make Superman more of a relate-able character and more three dimensional.
As for Pa Kent, I really felt that scene was kind of forced. I believe his death was fine, but in a tornado? It would have been more acceptable if it was in a pile-up crash where an oil tanker exploded.
As for Easter eggs, I missed the "Stone" part. That would be a nice catch if it is him or something. Also, apparently that satellite that Supes and Zod destroyed had the Wayne Enterprise logo on it. I missed it but my boss told me about it.
And yeah, I saw all the Lexcorp logos lol. I hope they introduce him as a character, but not as the villain just yet. I hope they introduce him as a billionaire/industrialist/scientist more than a megalomaniacal villain.

Just a quick comment, I think Superman's actions were justified. I mean, Zod wasn't going to quit trying to kill people. It was clearly said he was pretty much born to protect his race, and now that they were all gone, he went psycho. Honestly, I think Superman was merciful in killing Zod. Imagine being Zod and the torment you'd feel every waking hour knowing that you had failed your entire life's goal.
