Maybe not ghosts but I believe there is something there.
My mother was hit by the side of a car while crossing the road and she turned back because a voice shouted her name, if she hadn't done that she would of walked right in front of the car. but no one around new who my mother was but someone called her name to stop her from walking out in front of the car.
so it may not be ghosts but I believe there is something there.

I admit, I was skeptical at first, but I can honestly say that I have seen a ghost. I was spending the night at my girlfriend's parent's house over Easter weekend because we were going to spend the time with her family. Anyways, I was sleeping in her brother's old room when all of a sudden I woke up and saw an apparition hovering over and approaching me. Naturally, it startled the hell out of me lol. It was a silhouette of a woman in a night gown. From about the head to maybe midsection was visible. Anyways, the story is that the previous owner of the house died within the house due to cancer or something. Apparently her "spirit" never left the house.
Take it for what you will, but this is what I saw.

I feel that with ghosts, like many supernatural things, no matter how strange or implausible it may be, there is always some amount of truth behind it. People haven't been "seeing" spirits for the entirety of human history, for them to be completely fake and made up.

I think ghosts in some form probably exist maybe, as I mentioned in the religion thread...it's not impossible to think that apparitions are merely figments of the imagination, but considering how many people have seen them, from hard cynics to true believers, it becomes improbable to believe that every single incident is a case of an overactive imagination.
My personal experience mostly has to do with my grandfather, who died from lung cancer when I was 4. Since then, whenever I visit my grandmother's house there have been thumping sounds and sounds of someone walking around the house at night. For reference, the house is relatively new (purchased in the mid 80's) and has been well cared for so there aren't any loose boards, the house is in an area that doesn't have much in the way of pest animals (or anything at all, really...it's a boring shithole), and my grandma cannot get around without a walker and it makes a very distinct sound. Occasionally I have also heard what sounded like a conversation or someone talking to themselves at night...when everyone else is asleep.
One of my multiple damages (among the depression, arthritis, asthma, etc.) is also that I constantly see images in my head of dead, misshapen, rotting, or otherwise unnatural looking creatures. Makes me a very good horror writer, but it scared the shit out of me when it first started...when I was 5. One of the side effects is that I get certain odd feelings when I enter some rooms or houses or buildings, sometimes intense enough that I have to leave immediately, and often later find out that people think the place is haunted. Not saying I'm psychic or any of that bullshit, but I've heard that people with mental ailments tend to be more susceptible to ghostly or "negative energies" or whatever new-age-y term you want to call it. So, make of that what you will.
Mind you these are not hallucinations, just recurring images within my own head. I have yet to see a ghost personally, and I don't plan on seeking them out any time soon because seriously, that shit freaks me out..

Well, normally I don't believe in the supernatural or anything that contradicts scientific knowledge. Ghosts, sadly, are not an exception for me. I, just like everyone else apparently, has seen some freaky shit that other people might explain by calling them ghosts, but personally, I just think I saw glimpses of things I didn't recognize immediately and my brain just tried too hard to make sense of it. Then again, if a spirit of any kind were to come into my house right now, sit on my bed, and start a conversation with me, I still would deny it was there, so take that as you will.

I don't believe in 'em. I find that most of the time, when a ghost sighting is given objective scrutiny, a logical explanation comes out. The greatest one being the placebo effect. If you truly, wholeheartedly think you're seeing something, there's a very good chance you'll see it. Then you factor in mass hysteria, and whenever there's an inkling of a possibility of something being a ghost, the predisposition to believe it is a ghost makes it so. My response to that is: Aliens. We've had both very intelligent and very stupid people claim to have spotted aliens, and there's little and less proof of their existence on earth with each day.

I think there is a truth to every religion and belief. I also feel this way about ghosts. Whether or not they're the kinds you see in movies (or on crappy shake cam shows), ghosts probably exist or have existed in some manner. I'm not sure if they're remnants of the after life, but I definitely wouldn't discount demons or other creatures roaming our world.
Judaism and early Christians used to believe that illnesses were caused by demons. I wouldn't see this theory as too farfetched. The illness itself wasn't the demon, but the illness is perpetuated by the demon. Just as angels supposedly aide good in our world, demons could, in turn, help evil.
Now, this is just the uber Catholic rambling. Make what you will of it.

I do not believe in ghosts, if by ghosts you mean some kind of consciousness that exists outside the biological body.
I'd believe ghosts are some kind of crazy reality fluctuations or dimensional reverberations of the past before I believe they're sentient minds existing without a body.
