Alright, so Shark came up with this idea, and I am ALL OVER IT! There are several ways we can go with this, and I already have a character thought up. With such a simple desert planet they have, and all kinds of technology we could muster up, it's a perfect opportunity to get us a Sci-fi/Western RPG underway.
My guy will carry two magnum pistols, both Golden. I want him to be quite the marksman, and also a hitman of sorts... this is simply an initial idea thread, so post your thoughts. Especially on any kind of plot you think of.
Any Trigun fan should be take this task easily.

My guy... not sure yet, can't pull Doc. Super lol.
Plot wise I'm also not sure, though I don't think we should have anything to do with the main story, other than perhaps the locations in it. The whole ordeal with Vash and the Gung-ho Guns is really too complicated I think, and far too lethal a conflict.

I would gladly mod this RPG. I already have a character thought up.

Well ok Rinji your the boss then.
Only question I think we should consider then, before we get things underway; how are we going to do the plot?
Before I said that we should avoid the main story, but thinking more on it I think we could make it work. Just don't focus on or include the actual main cannon characters. We can work off the locations and NPCs fairly well, more or less.
Or we can just wing it and do things on our own and make up a story. The first idea though offers some stability at least, in that it doesn't require much thinking or planning on our part.
Anyway yeah, I think once we sort this out, then we can get onto making characters.

I just finished the fourth episode of this show. I want to play so badly.
Shark wanted me to play an NPC for this RPG. I would gladly play any character needed. I would like to take a back seat on this one and let you guys guide it forward.

Well not exactly.
The way we had it was, we were either going to vaguely follow the cannon plot, or we were going to make up our own story. I don't mind making up our own story, but chasing after the cannon plot is much more convenient.
Only kicker with the cannon plot; Vash is more or less essential to it. As neat a character as he is, unless someone literally wants to NPC Vash the Stampede for this whole RP, then it won't really work with him.
However what I was referring to before, there is a canon character who could easily supplant Vash, by the name of Tesla. She has no presence in the anime however, and an abrupt end in the manga. My idea CJ, assuming you were interested, is basically you make whatever character for this that you want, and we simply have it that the character you make actually is Tesla, and for whatever reason be it amnesia, disease, operation or choice, simply is not aware. Or heck, could be aware, whatever you'd like really. Just that if we write it off with amnesia or whatever, you really can make whatever character you want and not have to be bound by the cannon setting, rules or understanding.
That way we include a setting-important character, and it allows us to follow the main story however we please, but it still allows you to make whatever sort of character you wish. Assuming that character is female of course, Tesla was a girl. If you want to make a dude, well we'll have to get creative I suppose.
Basically what I was trying to get at, is that we could do this, have a means of following the main story and remain true, but you wouldn't have to be constricted to NPCing. Does that make sense?

Alright. Cool. I can do.
I'm watching the Trigun Anime right now but I'll read the manga for at least information on Tesla and the way the universe.
Noting the distressing trend of me accidentally making main characters, if we were to do this, could this character remain in the background?

They could remain in the background insofar as any one person can in a group. The plot will more or less be driven by them however, or at the very least their existence.
