YO DAWG, I HEARD YOU LIKE ELEPHANTS SO WE PUT AN ELEPHANT ON YOUR ELEPHANT SO YOU CAN READ ABOUT ZOU WHILE YOU READ ABOUT ZOU.
Even accepting that this is more a transition/exposition chapter than anything, I gotta admit that this is probably the weakest installment in this arc so far. Already there's a lot of information, and the way Oda's been giving it to us is really weird. Hopefully it'll be ironed out before too long, but as of right now it all just feels disjointed, and not in a good way. Island design continues to be amazing though.
Looking forward to seeing what's going on with Sanji, which is not something that I would have said for a very long time. With any luck, this could be the start of him being actually cool again, which has been long overdue. As much as I've criticized him in the past, I honestly did like his character a whole lot during his glory days, and would be thrilled to see those make a comeback.
Oh hey, Law got a nice moment in this chapter! Even if it was only two panels. For how much he's been a scowly little grouchypants during the last two arcs, it was genuinely heartwarming to see his crew get so excited over him. It adds more depth to him as well. It was a nice touch that went a long way.
Also, I should really start making a counter for every time Caesar's the best part of a chapter despite barely being in it.

All I know is that if Zou is a short transitional arc then Wano Kuni which is probably the next arc better give shining moments to all the straw hats, cause a lot of them are in desperate need of it not just Sanji, especially since they were pretty much ditched in Dressrossa to establish Luffy's fleet.
Robin is of course the number 1 Straw Hat who needs a shining moment as all Oda ever has her do is watch from the sidelines or take out minions, it's amazing that she still only had 1 fight as a member of the crew, the fact she was the only SH crew member on Dressrosa to not have a fight was total bullshit. She should be given a proper fight against the next big bad and his main generals and she should unlock Haki.
Zoro needs to be challenged, I've not been wanting to say this but he's really becoming boring, no one has actually put up a real fight against him since Mr. 1 unless they were a final villain who Luffy would have to take out like Enel, he needs to take the next step up which is hopefully cutting elements like he saw Kinemon do on Punk Hazard cause cutting Diamond and Sea Stone is still probably a long way of and he cannot continue as he currently is otherwise he will become (if he isn't already) the most boring straw hat when it comes to fights, his fights right now are surviving on his enemies gimmicks they have been since Kaku.
Usopp need to be redeemed after the whole thing with Sugar was used as a Joke, I wanna see him learn more about his Observation Haki and use it in an epic way to defeat a villain.
Nami has been left on the sidelines just like Robin ever since Enies Lobby so she needs to take the next step up as well, her 6th sense with the weather could be evolved into a form of observation Haki, I'd like to see this utilized in some way.
Sanji, well what can be said about sanji that hasn't been said already, he's been overshadowed by everything since Thriller Bark ended and he's the most neglected of the Monster Trio since the time skip, his only cool moment so far has been to stall Doflamingo. I dunno what Oda has planned for him but it better be good before he completely devolves into a joke character.
Luffy, well for starters you give us a 2 year time skip to get stronger and the first bad guy we come across is a steroid enhanced shark who Luffy struggles with, really? Luffy's first Red hawk should have ended that fight right there and then, everything after that was padding and just made Luffy look really weak and made me question wether a 2 year time skip was long enough. Again Gear Fourth is cool and Doflamingo is the most powerful villain we've faced so far but Luffy has to be able to bring guy's of his level or higher down alone otherwise we wont be able to believe him being pirate King, he cant always be backed up by Law, he needs to master Gear Fourth and bring down a credible villain on his own like he did with Crocodile, Enel and Lucci. Everyone is talking about a second time skip because Luffy still looks very weak in comparison to the major players of the new world.
Franky's been Ok, he's took down opponents in all 3 main post time skip arcs so far.
Chopper is a really strong character with tons of potential but his cowardice is more annoying than Usopp's. Like with Doflamingo, it would have been pretty awesome to see Monster Chopper or Arm Point stall Doflamingo before Sanji arrived. Chopper actually hanst had a really good fight since Gedatsu, he never really beat Kumadori and the fishmen guy was just there to show his progress (Still dunno why Oda couldn't make a random fishman for Nami and Robin to also defeat but those two don't get to do anything anymore)
I dunno what Oda wants to do with Brook, he's not weak but he's not particularly strong either and all the swordsman fights go to Zoro. Brook is just kinda there and hasn't really done anything of note in any of the arcs since he joined the crew. His one crowning moment is beating Giolla in dressrossa but she shoudn't have been a threat in the first place she's weaker than all the SH crew.
you know all my problems with the crew could be solved simply by giving us a full crew battle lol, something we haven't had since Enies Lobby way back in 2006, it's been 10 years nearly oda gimmie a full crew battle already ffs and don't neglect anyone. There's a reason people love Enies Lobby and Alabasta and those full crew battles are a big part of it. We need to see their next step up, if you want us to believe that they can really beat Kaidou and Big Mom then they have to evolve to the next level and the only way to do that is to give them crowning moments of awesome and the best way to do that is to show of new powers that take down next level opponents which we usually see in full crew battles.
