THE DOOFY PANDA'S BEEN HIT. www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-11-13/3-men-arrested-for-uploading-one-piece-chapter-to-english-website/.95349Japanese source article here.So three uploaders for the notoriously early and comically bad scanlation group known as Mangapanda have been arrested in China for the crime of leaking One Piece (Chapter 805 specifically) too dang early. Now, Mangapanda has already been known for its sketchiness even among scanlators, operating far more out of a want for ill-deserved profit rather than anything else. However, before now the group has also been thought of as being untouchable. Whatever way one looks at it, this is a notable event in the battle between publishers and illegal distributors. Thoughts? Is this a triumphant moment for the industry, or a blow against the community itself? Did mangapanda deserve what was coming to them? Is this the beginning of the end for scanlators, or is it too small an event to make a difference? And more importantly, what does this mean in the long run, for both manga publishers and those who release their works early? Either way, no matter what happens, this will always be known as the day that those who pirate stories about piracy will be undone... for piracy. UPDATE: The actual number is four people, all of whom from China, who have been arrested.
