"Ah, an interrogation, perhaps?"
"Probably won't get that chance, the border guard will be here soon to cart him off."
At the collapse of the mage, Evander was freed, and joining the others he pat Zel fairly roughly but affirmatively on the shoulder. Looking down at the mage she had downed, he went and planted his boot right on the fellows chest which caused him to yell out in his language, probably an exclamation of pain.
"So, onwards we march to exterminate the rest of these little hooligans. Does anyone have any rope or some such that we can tie this one up with, perhaps? If you're not going to kill him, I assume that you plan to question him later on?"
"Well you're right about one thing." In response, Evander leaned down and punched the captive hard in the face with an armored gauntlet, knocking the fellow out. After that, he lifted his foot and made for the door to the cellar.
"Onwards."
---
"Well, they've certainly been busy..."
Evander stood in the cellar with his guard down, mostly because he was taken aback by what they found down there. A surprisingly big tunnel through the wall of the basement leading farther than the eye could see. It seemed whoever this lot was, had been digging for some time or had some relevant power, as the path itself was probably at least eight ten feet in diameter all around. There were some faint lights in the distance, but the tunnel itself must have gone a very long way.
Kneeling down near the entrance, he followed with his hand a small trail of blood.
"Well you got her, but it looks like she went back the way they came. How do you want to take this?"
He looked once more into the tunnel, and while it was a good guess that the scout had retreated into it, she wasn't within sight. Either she had made it farther out than sight allowed by means of the torches, or she was closer than that but sticking low to remain in the darkness and out of sight.
Either way, around that time sounds could be heard of people outside the building, up on the street level starting to approach. They sounded with the clanking and rustling of arms and armor, and they were speaking the common language, so it was probably reinforcements. The city watch perhaps, but Evander waited on the decision of the two with him on whether or not to continue. It wasn't like the tunnel was going anywhere, at any rate.

After she had dealt with the enemy Zêl sheathed her blade, but still remained alert as she thought there might have been more enemies in here. In fact she was pretty sure that there were more somewhere. When the old man spoke of interrogation the enemy Zêl did not understand what he was talking about, not that she could have conducted an interrogation even if she had understood. However it would seem like that Evander wasn't going to do it either. "Okay." Zêl said when Evander told her and Solaeus' to follow him and so she did. --- Zêl wasn't very surprised to see the tunnel they had entered. Truthly she wasn't quite sure what she should expect to be there and a tunnel like this didn't feel too out of place. Maybe Zêl once again did not quite grasp what Evander was trying to talk about or maybe it was because she wasn't the type to make decisions, but either way when met with the question of should they move onward or return she did not answer.

"Ha! Is it not obvious?", Solaeus scoffed. He stepped forward in the tunnel, stopping just a few feet ahead of Evander. He shakily pointed his staff forwards, barely able to hold it entirely up on its own with just one frail arm. "If we do not chase after them now, then there is no telling what they shall do next. We caught them off-guard with this attack, and if we simply let them be, then they shall adapt to the situation and regroup." He held the staff upright again, leaning on it for support as he looked at the two behind him. "My light magic could illuminate this tunnel if either of you so wished, to protect us from little secrets. We must go further, we must finish the vagabonds off. It would be most unwise to let such filth crawl away."
There was a definite spite to his words, a certain bite. He did not seem to be directing it toward either Zêl or Evander, but still he bared what few, yellowed or blackened teeth he had in his sneer. "So, shall I provide more light for this tunnel, or do you two choose to fall back?"

"Light's good, no telling how long those torches will last."
Evander of course, meant the line of torches along the walls of the tunnel, every hundred feet or so. They provided a general direction in which the tunnel went, but not how far, as after about the fifth or sixth one they vanished. Either because the invaders had only lit this many torches close to the exit, or simply because the tunnel took a bend and obscured sight beyond that.
"Now let's see if we can't catch up to your little friend."
---
"Well that was a waste of time."
After walking for a good ten minutes and coming to realize that the tunnel went much, much farther than he was interested in exploring, Evander turned back. Once they reached the building they were accosted by the city watch, but were soon given the all clear to be on their way, once their involvement in the situation was determined. Thus, the first order of business was to report back to the Lost Fox and the rest of the guild. A quick trek through the main streets rather than back alleys got them there in short order.
"But did you actually stop them? I heard there were a number."
"Why does it matter how many there are, what matters is that we should be going after them! Take the fight to wherever they came from, that's what I say!"
Upon reaching the inn, Carello had already made it back and joined Satir in keeping the place secure. Assumedly at some prior point they had helped the injured townsman to a doctor, since he was not there. All that remained were the rest of the guild, and Melly of course, still keeping an eye out for any customers. Chances were, if the invaders had made it all the way here, she'd probably be serving them drinks too.
"The border patrol can handle that, it's not our business. If they ask for magical assistance, then we're in business, but until then it's a border dispute."
"Whatever it is, the Telveri's won't be happy. You said it was one of their buildings? Then you can expect Fallion to be down here knocking on my door."
Evander was able to reign in the two younger mages fairly well, but it was clear to see that he didn't agree with what he was saying. Indeed, he was much of the same mind as Carello, and were there not a risk of safety to the guild then he would still be walking down that tunnel.
Ironically though, because of his being occupied, it was Maven who was left to see about the prospective new members. She had been huddled in the back with Melly and some other people whom had fled from the invaders, but now that the situation was under control more or less, she had moved to her window seat to look out. At the return of the trio, she moved towards the entrance.
"So, how was it? Evander didn't give you much trouble did he?"

Zêl followed Evander and Solaeus for a moment as they kept on their chase after the remaining enemies, but eventually they just quit as their changes of catching up to them were pretty low and the pursuit did not seem worthwhile. Zêl had no objections to this, as usual. She wasn't the type to question others very often.
---
A bit later the group had returned to the inn they started from and somehow Zêl had gotten her cloak back and was now once again wearing it. It had gotten a little dirty though. When asked about how the mission with Evander went Zêl had this to say: ”It. Okay. He no trouble.”

Solaeus had sneered and muttered to himself as they went back to the inn. A waste of time, tch. If they had gone even further, they would have found the hooligans and destroyed them, he was sure of it. But when Evander had decided to go back, Solaeus did not complain. Admittedly, after walking for so long since leaving the last village he had been in, he had no desire to walk any further down some tunnel unworthy of his glory. Perhaps he would catch those thugs later.
For now, he looked at the one who asked him and Zêl some question. "Oh? Oh, no, he did not give me any trouble at all." His face contorted into his twisted, rotten grin, his voice as eerily hollow as ever, like a passing breeze. The stink of his breath, like that of the dead, might unfortunately attack Maven's and Zêl's noses. "We dominated the enemy. Killed most of them and the rest ran away like little urchins. Eh...Now, then. What is the matter of their argument? More trouble in this little town?"

"It. Okay. He no trouble.”
"Oh? Oh, no, he did not give me any trouble at all. We dominated the enemy. Killed most of them and the rest ran away like little urchins. Eh...Now, then. What is the matter of their argument? More trouble in this little town?"
Maven certainly was taken aback by the rank old man, but she did her best to keep a straight face, simply lessening her eagerness to approach the prospective members.
"Well that's good then, show them how we deal with our problems here. Oh those two? They're on the same page, want to go after the invaders. It's not really our business though, and we can rely on the border guard to figure out this whole mess."
"You can bet your bottom jewel they'll be asking for help if things are even slightly magical, and from what little I saw, they were."
Melly had changed her focus to some of the arrows sticking out of places in the tavern, eventually managing to pull one out without breaking it too badly and examining the thing. Handing it to Maven, the guild master approached one of the windows of the place, holding the arrow up to it for comparison. Strangely enough, the places where the arrows had broken through, were unnaturally clean holes.
"Well then, we'll see to it when the time comes..."
