"Sorry. Me no can answer."
"Oh... well stay here if you want. Maybe you'll be able to answer later."
Maven looked rather disappointed at the lack of an answer. She had been expecting something, anything, but got nothing. It wasn't that she no longer cared about Zel or her situation, but she wasn't so willing to go out of her way to help anymore. Evander could handle the rest, he was good at that and he was in charge after all. Already he was talking it over with the other stranger whom arrived at the place.
"And yes, you are so right concerning the 'thankless job'. I was in power once, I had to pull the strings while others acted as if they were in charge. No one thanks you, appreciates you, sees the skill in you. I think that a discussion with you regarding my desire to join the guild would be most fruitful, would it not, Evander? I do enjoy speaking with one who does not wish to waste words. Now then, what are the requirements? Tests? Demonstrations? Must I fill out a form?"
"No such requirements, no. Really only, if you can perform magic, otherwise members would be better suited to the border patrol. If you've got some talent though, and you stick around for a couple of jobs, then you'll find a place here. Citizen or no-"
At about that point, something smashed through the window next to Evander's booth and embedded in one of the support beams of the place, causing Melissa to jump back out of fright; it was an arrow, and it stuck into the wood right next to her head. Immediately Evander moved to stand in front of Maven in case any further threats came their way, and already he had his weapons drawn. The other two mages were just as active, and the gladiator-looking fellow went to stand by the door while the other went to help Melissa and see if she was alright.
Not long after and the front door was shoved open as an injured townsman stumbled in. Holding a bleeding arm, he tried to find his way behind the bar, though Melissa spoke up first.
"C-Cor? What happened to you?"
"Border crossers, from Seven I think. Some of them are armed, one of them shot me as I ran." at this he turned a bit to the side to show that indeed, there was an arrow sticking out of his shoulder, similar to the one that had smashed through the window.
"What, in town? That's so far past the border, did they get past the wall?"
By this point Maven, against Evander's wishes, moved past and towards the bar so she could get a better idea of what was happening. While listening, she attempted to help Cor with removing the arrow. He winced, and there was some blood, but already she started to patch him up for the time being.
"No, no... they came out of one of the Telveri houses, not sure how they got there... maybe some of them know magic? I was talking with Mar when we saw them, tried to raise an alarm, maybe find some patrols but they attacked."
By this point already Evander had decided on what to do, and headed for the door. Holding it open, he looked out to see if the coast was clear before calling back to the others.
"Satir, remain here to help Maven and Melissa. If the attackers come by this way, carry Cor and lead everyone out the back. Carello, you run and see if you can't find a patrol nearby. Otherwise, start forming up a militia."
"Righto, expect an army when I return!"
With that, Carello bolted outside and off through the town as Evander instructed. Similarly, Satir nodded in affirmation at guard duty for the Lost Fox. With those details taken care of, Evander could focus now on the pressing issue of the outsiders that found their way into town.
"Solaeus and... Zel, it was? With me, if you like. This'll be your introduction to the guild, of sorts. We've got some rogues to deal with, and it's up to us to hold the line until support arrives. Don't have to join me, but I'd appreciate the help."
With that Evander headed out in a swift, steady trudge in the direction the arrow had come from. He had a good idea of which Telveri property it was that the attackers came from, but would find out for sure soon enough. Satir meanwhile stood guard inside the Lost Fox as he was told, but held the door open in case Solaeus or Zel wished to head out as well.

Zêl could see that Maven was disappointed with her answer, but that was to be expected. At least she didn't seem angry at her and even told her she could stay here. So in the end everything seemed to be fine, for now. Then Zêl stopped to think for a while, while finishing her beer. That didn't last too long as soon a wounded man entered the bar and soon all attention was on him. "Kiro êtt rêhys cy?" Zêl tried to listen on what the wounded man was talking about and actually got something out of it; someone was causing trouble nearby. That might not seem like much, but it was good enough for someone like Zêl, who had spent most of her time in this foreign land being confused about what people around her had said. "Me go." Zêl responded to the man who apparently asked her and the weird old man nearby to come with him. From the context she figured out that he wanted them to help with law enforcement and dealing with whatever problem the town of Dunwald was having at the moment. Bringing police officers or soldiers straight from a bar to the fields would never fly back home in Yerwa, but when in Rome do as the Romans do, so Zêl didn't bother too much about it. Not that Romans even exist in this world.

Solaeus turned his head at the noise of the arrow breaking through the window. Although people began to get up and get ready for a fight, the old man had no intent on moving from the chair. Instead, he watched with some interest as some peasant stumbled in and started bleeding all over the place. Revolting. He took a sip of his brandy, watching the whole panicked fiasco as if it was a show. Not a very good one, but amusing nonetheless.
It was when Evander suggested that he and the other newcomer, apparently called Zêl , come along that Solaeus began to slowly raise from his seat. This was certainly an opportunity to finally show off his power, join the guild, and gain some authority and respect around this or any place. Yes, after all this time of searching and being nothing, he would finally gain the power and position he deserved. Soon, he would be revered by the whole village as their savior, the most powerful mage in the town! His glory would be spoken of daily and maybe even weeks from now they would build a gold statue of him and then they would -
He coughed as he continued to think to himself, his mouth contorting into a small smile. "Ah ha ha...ha. Yes. I am coming, do not worry. I shall cleanse these lands of the murderous filth soon enough! Just let me...agh..." His feet moved underneath his robes rather slowly, but he followed after Evander and Zêl , and while he expected them to wait up for him or assist him in some way, he would probably end up rather in the back of the three-person party.

Almost immediately upon exiting the inn, Evander hooked a hard left right around the side of the building, to a small alley. Perhaps it could have been used as a place to tie up a horse or a cart, but therein were two rather large looking wolves. Lowering to a knee, he greeted them and went about untying them.
"Ketch, Rene, stay. Guard Maven."
Rearing up on their hind legs for a moment, the two wolves paced around to the front of the inn and waited as they were told, for any sign on trouble or threat to the place. Once that was taken care of, Evander returned to the street, motioning for the two newcomers to follow him as he hefted a large shield. Judging by the way the arrows had flown through the windows, he had a good idea of where the invaders were.
"Follow as I go. You don't have to keep up, but don't wander."
There was the road that ran alongside the inn and the row of buildings it was part of, but intersecting that was a side street which led down along another row of buildings. Of course, the newcomers could do as they pleased, but Evander stuck to a back alley which ran parallel to the street they were headed for. Chances were he didn't want to get hit in the face with an arrow by traversing the main street, but it wasn't difficult to figure out where they were going, even through the back alleys; follow the shouting and screams.
---
It wasn't a long trek through the back alleys, but there was much to push past. Lots of boxes, crates, and assorted junk discarded back there. Eventually though, after peering around a corner, Evander stopped and figured this was the place to rejoin the main street. Partly because the alley further ahead was actually blocked by a cart so getting past wouldn't be easy, but mostly because right around the corner where it rejoined the main street, were a couple of invaders. Looking around the corner, right across the street was a rather large building that looked somewhat residential but had a low wall around it. Out front in the street were several people in heavy gear and armed fairly well keeping lookout, while clearly visible inside the building were a number of others busy ransacking the place.
Evander waited for the newcomers, assuming any of them followed him, to catch up. They could have just walked down the main street to reach the occupied building, but they would probably have come under fire along the way.
"I count four outside, keeping watch. Not sure how many more inside, but they sound busy.... wondering how we should proceed..."
Whether he was talking to himself or the newcomers relied entirely on their presence, but he seemed to be going over the situation in his head and would have welcomed some input. Or even action, if the new potential members just rushed in, he would join them regardless.
The invaders meanwhile, continued to keep a lookout. Two of them half sat, half leaded against the low wall conversing, while another was occupied with looking into another building next to the one that was being pillaged, a house perhaps. Only one of them was really on alert, but he had a bow drawn with an arrow at the ready.

"Sodâ hinâ rîna gjiniji ringindân nin sûngiji bôf." Zêl was surprised as she saw the wolves and for a moment expected that they would end up riding them, though luckily was wrong about it. She knew how to ride a horse, but riding a wolf might have been quite different. Zêl quickly understood that Evander wanted her and the old man to follow him through the streets of the city and so she did. There was no way she would find It would quickly come apparent that she was pretty agile and fast and had no trouble keeping up with Evander. --- After a moment it would appear that they reached their destination as Evander stopped moving in a place that looked more than a little dubious. Especially with the armed people nearby. They weren't even trying to hide their weapons. "Ronan ysî horn erêngiji?" Zêl wondered and then responded to Evander the best she could: "You go and me come." With her limited skills with the common language there were really no way for her to discus strategy, all she could do was to listen to orders and hope that she would understand them. Not that she would have had much to say in terms of strategy either way. She wasn't a leader type; she couldn't make decisions very well, especially for people other than herself. All she was good for was following orders.

Solaeus put a hand to his chin in thought, staring at the house before them. Rather simple, just one or two buildings to worry about, only a few enemies, most likely. At his own disposal was a foreign...warriror, he hoped, and a mage of unknown ability; he at least had a shield to protect him and Zêl. When the foreigner said that she would go with Evander, he turned to her to give a quick look-over. Hm...He didn't really know anything about her and couldn't really tell with the cloak covering whatever armor or clothing she had under. He wasn't sure if there was any time to ask, so he didn't risk it, especially with the possibility that she wouldn't understand what he was saying. He assumed that she at least knew what she was getting into. He looked back at the building and then spoke in a hushed tone.
"Zêl, you shall go with Evander as you suggested. My magic has quite the range; I can take out the archer from this position and in the initial confusion, I can kill the one inspecting the other house. I assume you two can at the very least kill the ones leaning on the wall. However, my spells are loud and bright; no doubt they will attract the attention of everyone inside and outside of that building and our position will be revealed. And..as you may have noticed..." He shuffled a bit, a small sneer on his face. "I...am not made for speed. While my range may be able to make up for that for those outside, I am not able to so easily kill anyone past the walls from here. It may take me some time to make it there once the guards are dead. I hope that with the guards gone, you two can at least get there quickly and gain some sort of advantage? Who knows; depending on how many are inside and how good you two are at close combat fighting, we could be done sooner than I thought.
Whenever you're ready, I shall attack and this little operation can begin."

"Right, takedown at a range. Sounds like a plan, then Zel..." hefting his shield and holding his sword steady, Evander looked to the new mages before turning his attention to the house, "...with me."
At that he kicked over a stack of crates obscuring them in the alley from the enemies, partly to announce their presence, but mostly because they were in the way. Crashing through broken boxes, he was surprisingly fast for someone in full plate, a testament to his strength. The archer on lookout managed to loose an arrow but it merely pinged off Evander's shield, and by the time the two on the wall managed to get to their feet with their weapons drawn, he was on them. He trusted Zel enough to take down the other one, so his target he crashed into with his shield and pinned to the ground with his sword.
The archer meanwhile, not wasting another shot on Evander, turned his sight on Zel and let fly another arrow, aiming right for her torso. The remaining enemy on the wall saw her approach as well, and picked up a spear resting from behind the wall. Chances were, it would be difficult to get near them with the archer still active, but not impossible.
The only remaining enemy meanwhile, finally noticed the arrival of the mages, and hollered out something in another language, most likely to raise whatever their version of an alarm was. She didn't wait to see if those inside responded however, instead noticing the older fellow hanging back in the alley. Pulling a hatchet from her belt, she errantly hurled it towards Solaeus with the intent of if nothing else, distracting him. While it might have seemed that her motivation was to prevent his approach or to stop him from harming her comrades, she instead took off running. Vaulting over the low wall, she would make it inside the house in a matter of moments unless someone stopped her. All that aside, her thrown weapon was do so rather haphazardly, and given that she was across the street trying to hit the mage in the alley the chances were low of it striking. Not impossible, as it bounce of a wall or something of the sort, but low.

Solaeus' lengthy speech was lost on Zêl, though that would not really end up mattering much as she was going to follow Evander on the assault and was just hoping that the old man did something to help, that was good enough. "Okay." Zêl said as Evander made his move towards the enemy as a sign that she was going to follow, as she had said she would. There was something she had to do first and so she did by over dramatically throwing her cloak on to the ground nearby. Despite the fact that this was a Fairy Tail RP even without her cloak Zêl did not reveal much more skin, which was a huge disappointment. Instead she was wearing some sort of light armor, but not one the others had likely seen before and might not even think of it as an armor on glance. Her outfit looked quite unusual to say the least. The hilt of a rapier Zêl had been concealing until now was also visible. And as she got closer to the enemies Zêl pulled that sword out to do battle with the enemy Evander left for her to fight. Using her sword Zêl tried to cut the enemy with a quick slash. There was nothing magical about Zêl's swordplay, but it definitely was very good and elegant, like someone who had been trained in fencing for years. Zêl did end up using her magic as well, as she had taken a note of the archer shooting Evander just a moment ago and figured that she might as well be in danger. To defend herself against this Zêl raised her sword above her head and soon it heated up and molten steel started dripping out of it. After just a few seconds there was a metallic wall protecting her and as Zêl pulled her sword away from it both the blade and the wall cooled down and solidified, way faster than they normally should so that any arrows that would get shot at Zêl would never reach their mark. Of course the wall wasn't very big and Zêl couldn't move too far or she would once again be able to be hit by the archer. Oddly enough the sword looked exactly like it had been before and there certainly wasn't enough metal in it to create a wall of that size. If the earlier enemy wasn't taken out by Zêl's swordplay now she wouldn't have too much space to maneuver around as she also wanted to stay out of the way of the incoming arrows.

A loud hum came from the alley and in but a moment after, a beam of light at least a hand wide shot out. It went through the archer as if it was nothing and faded shortly after in the sky, leaving a large hole in the enemy's chest.
"Ah...I still got it. Hm? Ah!" He winced at the sight of something spinning towards him and reflexively raised his staff as a sort of shield. It hit the ground a foot away from him with a SHUNK, although the old man did not open his eyes for several more seconds. When he did, he saw the enemy running away and shouted in his raspy voice. "Make a fool of me, will you?!" He raised his staff and slammed the bottom end into the ground, his double-handed grip tight. The multitude of pointy ends sticking out of the top of his staff glowed with the same light as the beam and soon enough, a loud humming could be heard.
There were seven ends in total and a small beam of light, only one or two inches wide, shot out from each one, although they were not straight lines such as the one before. They went high into the sky before spiraling downwards towards the house in erratic and random ways; it was as if they were projectiles falling out of the sky without any control. Two crashed into a higher part of the wall of the house, making small explosions that rained down some minor debris, pebbles and small fragments of the wall, towards Evander and Zêl. Two other beams landed into the ground nearby harmlessly, resulting only in more loud noise. The last three rained down upon the raining enemy's general area in an attempt to end her before she could escape.
"Ah ha ha...", chuckled Solaeus, not paying too much mind to the reckless and haphazard nature of his attack. "Did I get her?", he mused, still alone in the alley. "I suppose I should check." And with that, he slowly started towards the house, only able to go at the snail's pace he had been at before. It would take quite some time before he could reach the home and as he had said before, no doubt that the other two on his side could do some work inside while he walked.

Zel's swordplay made quick work of the second target by the wall, though not simply because of her skill, as the enemies were largely taken off guard and had little time to prepare. In conjunction with Evander's advance, and Solaeus' attack, most of the enemies outside the building were no more and only the scout remained. Or well she would have, were it not that just short of the entrance, she was struck by one of the old mage's beams. A spray of blood and a cry of pain as she collided with the door frame (spattering it with blood in the process), and sunk to the floor. On her side, she managed to crawl into the building, but she didn't have long.
"After her! We can corner the others inside, clear the place out quick and easy."
With that, Evander drew his sword from his fallen enemy by the wall and merely stepped over the low wall itself, proceeding after the scout into the building. Assuming Zel or Solaeus were following him though, they'd see him yanked sharply to the left and out of sight once inside, as though he had been pulled by something inside the building or knocked back. They would probably be able to hear him struggling though, and the sound of crackling energy.
"ARG! They've got a mage! Got me stuck against the wall!"
As a private residence, it was rather odd in layout, as through the front door was a reception area complete with a desk. There were a pair of hallways branching off from this room, down one of which the scout had crawled, apparently with magical support to cover her. Indeed, there was an enemy mage at the ready with electrical-looking coils in his hands, ready to hurl them at the next person to walk through the door. Assumedly this was what happened to Evander, as he stepped inside and was hit by the coils which knocked him against the wall opposite the mage and wrapped him against it.
The mage himself shouted something through the house, but there was no immediate obvious response, so he just waited. Of note, that the hallways branching from the reception room (one in which Evander was imprisoned, the other in which the mage waited at the ready) had windows to the outside. Unfortunately the mage himself was not standing by a window, but there were a few both in front of and behind him, as he was standing roughly midway along the corridor.

Zêl had no trouble dealing with the enemy and in fact made it through the battle without a scratch or rather the enemies failed to scratch her, but she did take damage from the friendly fire caused by Solaeus. The damage wasn't severe, but it clearly did agitate Zêl, who was expecting more professionalism and care from her comrades. "Rong djidu hinâ lûyn rah hirung ûsu? Hiru êtt urpân aingâ hi yset." As usual most of Evander's speech was lost on Zêl, but she still followed him in to the building when she head a loud 'ARG' she understood understand that something'. This made her movements more cautious, even though she did not really see what was it that got Evander as she had been a little further back at the time. The noise his struggle made did tell Zêl where he was right now and she couldn't just leave him there. "Ve ryhîn er karingû." Zêl thought that sneaking on the enemy might be the smartest way to do this, but couldn't really afford to waste time trying to find some hidden passageways that may or may not have been there so she decided on a more direct approach, still minding the risks however. Using her magic Zêl turned her sword in to a large shield and now slowly and carefully approached the location she had heard Evander just a moment ago to check on him and hopefully find a way to help him.

It had taken a while for Solaeus to get to the house, and by the time he had, Zêl had turned her sword into a shield and approached the source of Evander's scream. While a shield was fine and dandy, Solaeus had no such protection and had no desire to rely on a near-stranger for defense. Thus, with this in mind, he made a brisk trot over to another side of the house, his breath already quickening from even that slight increase in speed.
He crouched under the windows, his staff parallel to the ground as he snuck over to the last one. After passing that one, he stood and held in a groan when his bones creaked. A cautious look inside and he saw the back of an enemy, a mage by the looks of it.
Excellent.
He didn't know what Zêl had in mind, but perhaps he could help. After all, it would be rather difficult to use his magic from the angle of looking into a window. A distraction it would be, then.
Raising his staff, he reared it back and smashed it into the glass, the window shattering into pieces. He pointed the staff at the wall opposite of the window and shut his eyes. A moment later, a bright light flashed, filling the hallway with a bright light. It would have momentarily blinded any to look upon it; Solaeus had hoped that the mage would have turned to look upon the shattered window and then be blinded by the afterward flash, but in the moment's pause between the two he had not seen if this had come to be.

"He's right down the hallway there, just don't get hit and you can take him down."
Evander had been imprisoned against the wall, but there wasn't anything stopping him from speaking, and when Zel got close enough so that he could see her through the front entrance he pretty much just started talking normally. To her, or Solaeus whom he assumed to be close behind.
The enemy mage meanwhile had been standing at the ready, with the injured scout on the floor nearby, the both of them watching the front entrance. When Zel actually entered the building, the both of them acted; the mage let loose several of the bolts from one of his hands, while the scout clamored to head through a door which looked to lead downstairs to a cellar area. With her shield up though, she might feel the force of the bolts, but would not suffer any adverse effects as they merely hit the shield and skirted off.
It was when Solaeus smashed the window though, that in response, the mage did turn to look as he planned. The blinding attack worked, and with a yell he tried to shield his eyes after the fact with his free hand. With his other hand though, he let loose the array of bolts that had been planned for Zel, at the window. If Solaeus wasn't careful, he might get a face-full of constricting energy chains just as Evander had.
Whatever the case, the mage himself was stunned for the time being, and blindly tried to find something to support himself with, all the while cursing in some foreign language. Evander was waiting to be let down, but there probably wouldn't be a better chance to get at the enemy mage now.

"No worry." Zêl responded to Evander as she made her way forward. She seemed to be quite confident in her ability to handle the situation now that she had a better grasp of what was going on.
Zêl's shield was very sturdy and her grip on it was strong so only very strong attacks could break through and the bolts the enemy mage shot towards her just didn't quite pack enough of a punch to do any real harm to the shield or Zêl herself. She could feel the impact on the magic bolts hitting the shield, but that was about it, they did not hinder her progress at all. Behind her shield Zêl could not see a whole lot so Solaeus' light show was mostly missed by her, which was probably a good thing as it would have only harmed her.
When she got close enough to the enemy to properly engage in combat Zêl could tell that this was her change as the foe was blinded by the light so she transformed her shield back to a sword, it's original form. And with that sword Zêl slashed the enemy's chest. Based on the way she swung her sword it would appear that Zêl wasn't trying to kill the enemy mage, just wound him enough to stop him from fighting back.

Solaeus fell to the floor to dodge the sudden attack of chains, leaving him panting on the ground. He heard the unmistakable sound of metal tearing through flesh and, with a groan, picked himself back up and looked through the window. Ah yes, Zêl had defeated the mage. It didn't seem like she was going to kill him though, or else she would have already run him through with his sword.
"Ah, an interrogation, perhaps?" His voice came from behind the rest of his group as he slowly and shakily went through the broken window, using his staff as a support. "Hah!" He stumbled forwards a bit when he finally got through, but stood tall and proud shortly after. He looked at the mage before them and then at his surroundings. He had not seen the scout run away, so he did not know where to go to next. "So, onwards we march to exterminate the rest of these little hooligans. Does anyone have any rope or some such that we can tie this one up with, perhaps? If you're not going to kill him, I assume that you plan to question him later on?"
