Thrym had been digging for a while now, and by this point had a firm hold on the scent trail he was following, that of the Rocket Grunt, his Dugtrio, and his two captives, those being Lucas’ Riolu and Annabeth’s Salamance within its pokeball.
Stopping for a moment as he heard someone coming up behind him, Thrym turned for a moment and spotted the rich boy who had followed him down. Looking the boy over for a moment, he then decided to just pay him no further heed, and so, turned back and continued onward.
Soon, he emerged out of the hole, finding the Dugtrio that he had been following at its entrance. Deciding that now was as good a time as any to attack, he once again utilized his Icicle Crash ability, the large, ice bulldozer he had created on the front of his face still being there, and so, with it, he lunged forward and aimed to literally scoop up the Dugtrio and forcibly remove it from its hole. After all, he had come here to do a job and he would get it done, just as he always had. ------------ Meanwhile, back at the Pokemon Center…
Randy’L just shook her head at the complete arrogance and narcissism that Paola openly exuded, before turning away in disgust, turning her attention to Annabeth as she listened to her, trying her best to ignore Paola. When Annabeth had finished speaking, Randy’L simply sighed and shrugged, “Alright, I’ll come along.” She simply said, before following Gray into the hole. Sitting there at the entrance she watched as Atlas came out of his own hole carrying the last of the trapped victims, and shouted over to him, “Atlas, stay here for a bit and help out with the recovery effort. Then, follow us down here when you’re done.”
The small humanoid pokemon gave a small salute in recognition as he lifted the injured person onto his log and once again picked it up and began carrying it towards the other injured people near Annabeth’s bench.

Annabeth was glad to see that with Delrics help, a few more trainers were joining her to help her out, and help Lucas out with his Riolu as well. It warmed her to know that there were still some noble trainers out there in a world where Team Rocket was gaining more and more members every day.
Speaking of Lucas, he had approached Annabeth and asked her a question.
"Uhm, I actually didn't think of the light situation," she said, chuckling embarrassingly. "Your Cyndaquil would be a great help for sure."
With that, Annabeth crouched down and gave the small Pokemon a pet. She was honestly happy to have him come along in the dark. She wasn't exactly enthusiastic to go into a dark, spooky cave.
Gray and his Pokemon showed up as well, adding a few more numbers to their force. Along with Paola, a Gym Leader that Annabeth did know of, even if she didn't particularly appreciate her personality, she was becoming more confident with every second.
Finally, Randy'L showed up, and with that, Annabeth guided them into the Pokemon made hole, following Lucas' Cyndaquil who provided plenty of light.
"Here we go, everyone," she said, her voice breaking as she looked down the hole. It went downwards at a steep angle and then just melted into pure darkness. "Stay close..."
---
Delric considered releasing his other Pokemon, Abra, like everyone else was, but he quickly put that consideration out of his mind. Delric has had... not exactly fabulous results when using Abra. Most of the time he'd just end up teleported two miles away, in a tree to boot. So he left that Pokemon in his Pokeball and instead had his Espeon follow him at his side and kept his sleeping Munna in his arms.
As the group walked deeper and deeper into the hole, it was as if the darkness itself was reaching out to them, sucking the life out of them. Of course, this was all just in Delric's mind. After all, he'd never gone on a daring adventure like this before, especially not in a dark cave heading for an ominous mountain where Team Rocket waited for them...
Delric gave a small shiver in fear, but just continued walking. To get his mind off things, he decided to bring up some conversation.
"So, where did you get your Pokemon?" he asked Annabeth.
Annabeth seemed to hesitate at first, then answered, "Oh, uhm... from my father."
Delric could tell she didn't want to talk about that, so he decided to look at Gray instead. "Hey, that's a really cool Umbreon you have! I think my Espeon likes it, hehe."
Espeon shot Delric an embarrassed look, then turned her head to ignore him.
"Oh don't be shy Espeon!" said Delric, but she wouldn't listen. He then asked Gray, "So, where did you get your Umbreon from anyway?"
---
While Delric chatted with Gray, Annabeth found herself between Paola and Randy'L. Well, that wasn't exactly where she wanted to be. She could tell from just the short amount of time she's been with them that these two people did not care for each other very much.
Being in a few Pokemon battles before, she knew that team work was the key in winning a battle, so she thought she'd try to encourage these two to get along a bit better.
"Uhm, hey Randy'L," she said, smiling. "That was really awesome of your Atlas, saving all of those people. And you have such a brave Thrym."
She then looked at Paola. "And Paola! I've know of you. Your Haunter is just as impressive as I've heard. You really showed that Team Rocket Grunt, huh?"
She then looked at both of them, still trying to force a smile. "You guys really are a great team, huh?" She wasn't sure if what she was doing would work at all, or just get her in trouble.
---
While Delric chatted with Gray, and Annabeth tried some home made counseling on Paola and Randy'L, Lucas would find himself walking primarily alone, other than his Pokemon.
It was here that a strange voice would pop up in his head and speak to him, and only he could hear it.
"Lucas," said the strange voice. It was a bit ditsy sounding, but still had a deep and serious undertone to it. "I know what you're coming here to do. Believe me, I know I have wronged you. But listen carefully."
If Lucas wasn't freaking out at this point, the voice would continue:
"Your Riolu is currently in my care, safe and well I can assure you. However, he is... lacking something. How can I say this nicely? He is malnourished, Lucas. He needs something more than what you can provide."
There was a pause, and he continued.
"Do not think this means I am taking your Riolu away, that is not true. I want him to be yours. No matter what you do to a Pokemon, you can never remove that essential bond with its original trainer. But that doesn't mean we can't... improve him. Now, listen closely, I have a proposition to make to you my friend."
A pressure was placed on the top of Lucas' head, as if someone was reaching out with an invisible hand and pressing against him.
"In your company, you have a few... good doers... who wish to do me wrong. They want to destroy everything I've worked hard for, take it all away from me, and leave me with nothing. Have you ever felt like that before? They're in the dark. They do not see the true good I am doing for both Pokemon and humanity. So this is what I would like you to do..."
"Lead these trainers to me. You'll find my base at the end of the tunnel you're currently on. If you lead them to me, into a trap I have set up for them, and you do not become hostile, I will give you your Riolu back. He will be the same Pokemon, but even better than you can imagine. Believe me, Lucas, this is something you want to do."
Another pause.
"Give this a chance, young Lucas, and you will truly become an amazing Pokemon trainer. I hope you consider my proposition well, for your Riolu is not the only life hanging in the balance of your decision..."
And with that, the pressure on his forehead vanished and the voice was gone. At this point, Lucas could tell the others about the voice, or keep it a secret like the voice requested. Or, if he thought he was able, he could try to communicate again.
As of now, it was up to him.
---
At the end of the tunnel, the Team Rocket Grunt who had Riolu bound in his arms was baffled.
A young boy just walked out of the tunnel, seemingly ignored him, and casually walked into the HQ of Team Rocket. "Well, he's a dead man. Wouldn't you agree Duggy?"
Duggy gave three nods at once. "Dug."
However, that wasn't the only thing to crawl out of the tunnel. A Swinub popped out as well, and he recognized it belonged to a female trainer he had seen on the surface. Without hesitation, the Swinub immediately attacked the Team Rocket's Dugtrio, using a rather powerful ice attack.
The attack hit head on, causing the Dugtrio to fall over, covered in an icy dew. "Du-Du-Duuuugggg~"
"My Dugtrio, noooooooo!!" shouted the Team Rocket Grunt, his hands on his head in horror. He crouched down at it, petting him slightly. "Oh, you're gonna pay for that you little fur ball."
At this point, the Swinub might notice that the Team Rocket Grunt no longer had Riolu in his hands, but instead a mysterious figure in a cape and hood had taken it and was heading towards the HQ.
It would also notice that its attack caused some commotion, and about fifteen other Team Rocket Grunts had shown up to see what was going on. Each one, once noticing the Swinub, released their Pokemon. It was a barrage of Ekans and Koffings, along with some Scythers and other regional Pokemon as well.
Two particular trainers released their Pokemon: A Houndoom and an Arcanine, two particularly powerful Pokemon. They were commanded to enter the tunnel, check to see if anyone else was coming down, and take them out, along with the entire tunnel system.
Delric's group, in a few minutes time, would surely come in contact with these two threatening Pokemon.
As for the Swinub, he could try to combat them all, or go after Riolu, or turn and run into the hole if he wished. He had a very serious situation on his hands, and it would be up to him to decide what to do.
---
Elsewhere, in the Team Rocket HQ, the young trainer Jonathan had entered the place as casually as a Team Rocket Grunt. As he entered, he'd find himself in an amazing entry way. A fountain stood in the center: A Nidoqueen with water pouring out of her mouth. The floors were black and white marble, and dual staircases lined the walls, heading up towards the upper floors. Near the far wall, a desk stood with a woman behind it, a Pokemon Grunt/Secretary.
She looked up at Jonathan as he entered, her eye dark and menacing. However, they turned friendly as the cloaked figure carrying Riolu showed up. He walked past her, saying, "Ms. Lo, I'll be in my office. Keep all visitors out, please. Except for the conference coming up soon."
"Absolutely, sir," said Ms. Lo, giving him a friendly nod. The cloaked figure then went up a staircase and quickly went out of view. As he did, Ms. Lo turned towards Jonathan, her eyes becoming dark again.
"I'm afraid the boss isn't accepting visitors at the moment, young man. I'll have to ask you to leave--" She let out a Pokemon, a Murkrow that cawed angrily at him. "Or else."
And with that the Murkrow dashed towards Jonathan, preparing to attack with its sharp beak.
"MURKROW!"

Paola tilted her head as she looked at Lucas.
"Wait. What. Really? But it's so dumb looking. All Psychic Pokemon have that stupid look. Weird."
The clueless Gym Leader then laughed at what Gray said.
"Yeah, I'd love to beat up a Rocket. It'd be great if there were more of them for the chance I could stea- recruit any Koffing or Ekans for the trainers back at my stupid Gym."
---
Paola remained quiet for most of the journey. She seemed to be occupied in some unknown thought. Every once in a while, she would smirk, as though remembering something funny, or perhaps something mean.
She paused when she heard Annabeth speaking with Randy'L. She rolled her eyes when she called the Thrym "brave." However, when she spoke to her and complimented her Haunter, her face nearly shined.
"If you think my Haunter's great, wait till' you see my Kaiser. He's the Poison Champion!"
Paola went to nudge Randy'L on the arm.
"You hear that, Frosty? My Haunter's waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than any of your runts. We'd be a great team, yeah, if she stays out of the way."
Her Haunter flew around and floated above several Pokemon, as though analyzing them. It saluted at them, expecting them to salute back. It seemed to be responding to the occurrence that many of them saluted their trainers after it had saluted its own.
---
Meanwhile, Paola's Thrubbish fell behind and stopped in its tracks in exhaustion. It dropped Paola's large backpack on the ground and breathed heavily. It whimpered slightly and fell back, hoping to regain its strength so it could keep up with the others again.

Gray chuckled at the sight of the Espeon blushing.
"Where I got Aiko? Hm, well, it's more like she got me. She once led me and Queenie over here out of a maze-like forest during my travels through Johto. In return, she actually wanted to come with us. At first, I was skeptical, since she was barely out of the newborn stage, but she proved herself and during one full moon, evolved into the beautiful Umbreon she is today."
Aiko blushed at the compliment, the redness clearly visible in the light her rings provided. She stiffened, though, and started growling. Gray cursed.
"Watch out, there's hostiles nearby. Fully evolved Pokémon, too. Be rady for everything."

Lucas was relieved that he and his Cyndaquil could be of some service within the cave. After Annabeth gave Cyndaquil a nice pet, she dropped into the Pokemon-made tunnel. Lucas noticed that the group was all converging around the tunnel and he and Cyndaquil followed Annabeth into the darkness.
After walking some distance through the tunnel, Lucas noticed that he was out in front, his Cyndaquil lighting the way. Annabeth had dropped back to talk to a couple of the trainers who joined. Lucas did not mind. It allowed him time to contemplate on matters. Even though this was technically not a cave, it was not Lucas’ first time walking through a dark labyrinth. Being from Violet City, Dark Cave was on the outskirts of the city, so Lucas often wandered inside, having all sorts of adventures. But now, the stakes have never been so high.
Suddenly, Lucas heard a voice. As the voice began to speak, Lucas looked behind him and noticed that the other trainers seemed to be oblivious to the voice. Am I hearing things? The voice continued, and as it spoke, Lucas listened intently.
The voice explained to Lucas that they wanted to improve him, transition him to the Pokemon with greater potential. Lucas had no idea what the voice was talking about as he and his Riolu was doing just fine in their travels. All Lucas had to do for his Riolu to grasp his full potential was to allow his new found friends into a trap that the guy with the voice has set for them.
Lucas had no idea what to do. He did not want his Pokemon to be harmed, but he also did not want any harm to come to his new friends, especially when they are going out of their own way to help him. But if he decided to tell them, how would it look explaining to these people that he has been hearing a mysterious voice?
So instead, Lucas decided another tactic. He turned around to face the others, “Hey everyone, I have a feeling we may be walking into a trap. Something just does not feel right. The Rocket Grunt could have informed his companions that he may be followed. We have no idea what it is we might be walking into.”

Like Paola, Randy’L too was mostly occupied by her own thoughts during the trip. Considering herself to be the most experienced of the trainers here, even more than Paola, who for some reason Randy’L still couldn’t fathom, had been seen fit to lead a gym. More present in her concerns however were her own pokemon, especially Thrym, her Swinub, who she knew would be facing nearly all of the enemies forces by himself. Of course, the Rich Boy had gone down with him, but he didn’t look very experienced. Still, despite this, she was confidant in the training she had given Thrym, who was by far her strongest and most experienced pokemon. Being so consumed with her thoughts, Randy’L hadn’t even noticed how close she was to Paola as they all crawled through the tunnel together. When Annabeth nudged her, she glanced over, her eyes glazed over for a moment as she brought herself back from her daze-like state, “Hmm?” she muttered while listening to the girl. Shrugging, she blushed a bit, “Thanks. I’m very particular about the Pokemon I’ll have on my team. Though, two of my pokemon, my Timburr, Atlas, as well as Hope here, my Togepi, were hatched from eggs at Breeding centers. I even have a fourth egg, although that one hasn’t hatched yet and I have no idea what kind of pokemon is waiting for me inside of it. I was told it was a strong one though, and that I’d be “pleasantly surprised” when it hatched.”Then glancing over at Paola, Randy’L shot the girl a dirty look, a wide, cracking smirk on her face, which quickly turned to one of annoyance as her right check seemed to quiver as Paola nudged her, the smirk still being there throughout it. Rolling her eyes, Randy’L muttered quietly under her breath, “Yeah sure. Keep telling yourself that, amateur.” Then, glancing behind her, Randy’L noticed that Paola’s pokemon, her Trubbish, was tired. Hope quickly hoped down from its position in Randy’L’s arms, and skipped over to Trubbers. Smiling widely at him, the tiny pokemon then tried to pick up the bag, offering its assistance to the tired pokemon. Rnady’L simply looked on and smiled in a motherly fashion at her young pokemon’s generosity. Her happiness was short-lived however, as soon after, both Lucas and Gray noted that they were being approached, and so, Randy’L, once again jumping into action, even despite her only pokemon here being Hope, pulled out a utility knife, selecting the largest knife on the tiny multi-purpose tool to use as a weapon. In addition, she called Hope over with a wave, and the small pokemon nodded, turning to Trubbers and leaping up, giving him a small kiss on the cheek before running towards Randy’L. Getting out in front of her, the small pokemon’s eyes once again began glowing blue as the tiny pokemon used its Future Sight ability to see what kind of pokemon was approaching them. Seeing images of the Arcanine and Houndoom that were coming down the hole, Hope quickly readied herself for the oncoming attack, as well as used her Future Sight’s other power, to send an attack their way that although delayed due to her sending it into the future, would eventually hit them, that is, given she didn’t defeat them before that. Turning to the others, she nodded, looking Randy’L in the eyes, to which her trainer instantly understood her pokemon’s meaning. Then, turning back, Hope began to run forward as it suddenly began to glow bright white, energy being drawn into her from her surroundings. This was visible as globules of light seemed to be pulled in from the soil surrounding them towards Hope, who gathered them to herself before the aura surrounding her intensified as she ran. It continued doing this until finally Hope lifted up and off the ground, the Aura having grown to become a large white sphere that completely surrounded her as she rushed into danger towards her attackers. Although a rare ability nowadays that wasn’t often used anymore, this technique was recognizable to those experienced enough as Secret Power. It was a move in which the user would draw in energy from their surroundings and then channel it through themselves to augment their strength as they attacked their opponents physically. It also had varying added effects depending on the environment it was used in. Their current surrounding was a tunnel, which being similar to a cave, would give the attack the added effect of the strike having an extra kick that could cause the targets hit by it to flinch. -------------------------- While everyone in the tunnel was preparing for the arrival of the first wave of attackers, Thrym, positioned at its mouth was struggling with the question of what he should do. He knew he couldn’t allow any more pokemon to get down the hole, and so following them would seem like the best bet, especially with all of the pokemon that were now surrounding him, quickly surpassing his capabilities to handle. Still, he wouldn’t give up, and so, thinking fast, Thrym dug his bulldozer down into the ground surrounding the hole and then thrust upward, causing a large amount of dirt to fall down, blocking the hole’s entrance. He could always open it again being as he himself knew the Dig technique, but he felt that preventing any further opponents from following the first two down into the tunnel was his first priority. Then, glowing with a bright red aura of power, Thrym once again displayed his Superpower ability, a move, which would push his capabilities far beyond their normal limits, and allow him, for however brief a time, to stand toe-to-toe with this veritable army of opponents. Even so, Thrym knew he couldn’t stay here, and so instead decided to make a mad dash in the direction the cloaked man had gone, since retrieving Riolu and the Salamance had been his first priority in coming here in the first place. As he did though, he continually struck the ground, causing a great many rocks to be imbued with energies that would briefly bring them to life, causing the rocks to fly up before sticking themselves in the ground again like sharp shards of glass. This was his Stealth Rock power, which would repeatedly animate the rocks whenever a new opponent was sent out, causing the stones to attack them. He did this many times as he ran in the direction the cloaked man had gone, while also using the combination of his Superpower and Icicle Crash to bash any pokemon foolish enough to get in his way. Despite his heroic efforts however, his plan did have one flaw, in that Superpower was very, very taxing on the body to use for any extended period of time, and so using it so much for so long, especially having already used it when he dug the tunnel to get the victims out back at the Pokemon Center, meant that he was rapidly depleting his stamina, and ran the risk of causing severe damage to his body. In a situation as extreme as this however, he didn’t really have much choice. Once he felt he had gotten some degree of distance between him and his pursuers, the Swinub finally allowed the Superpower to expire, as near simultaneously to this, the Icicle Crash bulldozer fell apart due to the severe beating Thrym had put it through. Exhausted with burning, aching muscles, Thrym forced himself to continue on, remembering his mission, and the commitment he made to Randy’L to see that the two stolen pokemon were returned safely. OOC: Here’s Secret Power’s page on Serebii’s Attack Dex so you guys can see what it does. It has 70 base power, 100 accuracy, and the Effect Rate is 30%. Still, here’s the page: www.serebii.net/attackdex-bw/secretpower.shtmlHere’s Superpower’s page as well. Notice the adverse side-effect [it lowers both the user’s Attack and Defense stats by one stage with each use]. It does have 120 power and a full 100 accuracy though to make up for it. Anyway, here it is: www.serebii.net/attackdex-bw/superpower.shtmlLastly, here’s Icicle Crash’s Page too. It has a potential flinching effect, and a power of 85, the highest of any physical Ice-type attack besides Freeze Shock, which only Kyurem can use. Anyway, here’s that one as well: www.serebii.net/attackdex-bw/iciclecrash.shtml

When he entered the Team Rocket building under Mt. Moon the rich boy had began to forget forgot about why got here in the first place and instead looked around this quite odd building. He felt both confused and curious about all of this.
"That's a really fine fountain. I wonder who sells those? It would definitely look good in my garden." The boy thought as he gazed upon the aforementioned fountain featuring a Nidoqueen. Despite it's undeniably weird location, this building definitely had some class and it probably wasn't very cheap.
A person wearing a cloak walked past the rich boy and the secretary, who was apparently named Lo, saying something about not taking any visitors at the moment. For the young trainer there was something very odd and scary about this person, but he couldn't really tell what it was and he really didn't want to meet with him, even if he would have accepted any visitors.
"This lady could learn something about customer service..." The boy thought as Ms. Lo had threatened him. Implying him that unless he were to leave, something bad would happen, which would include the Murkrow sitting over there. It wasn't a horrible idea as the young trainer really wasn't quite sure why he was here anymore, but then again walking the long tunnel back to Viridian city didn't sound appealing in the slightest and thus he decided to ignore the threats for now and stay there for at least a bit longer. Even if it would come down to it the rich boy thought he would be able to beat that black bird, thing, whatever it was. He really wasn't too knowledgeable about many species of Pokemon and he also really overestimated his own abilities.
"What kind of company is this? Let me guess you are miners... Or maybe researchers? That's why your base of operations is underground." He very daringly asked from Ms. Lo, despite of what might happen.

Delric smiled at Gray as he explained where he got his Umbreon. He was surprised at how similarly he had received his Espeon, and wondered for a moment if there was any deeper connection between that. "Haha, I got my Espeon in a really similar way," said Delric to Gray. "Probably just a coincidence. Though sometimes I wonder if it--"
Delric was interrupted as Gray took notice of a group of Pokemon coming down the tunnel towards them. Dangerous ones, probably from Team Rocket themselves. Delric didn't have a clue how the others could detect the Pokemon, but he was certainly impressed. He held his Munna tightly as his Espeon stood forward, ready to attack. He thought again about sending out his Abra, but he knew that would only end in disaster.
"Get ready, Espeon," said Delric, narrowing his eyes and trying to squint through the darkness. "They're coming."
And they came. Showing up out of the darkness of the tunnel was a huge Arcanine and Houndoom, two powerful wold/dog like Pokemon. They were both, at least partially, fire type Pokemon.
Immediately they were surprised to see a Togepi using a rather powerful attack on them. Arcanine managed to dodge the attack, but Houndoom took it almost head on, bracing himself before Togepi slammed into him. Regardless of his tenacity, he still flinched and would be frozen in place for a few seconds.
Arcanine, however, was completely free to attack. He faced the group of trainers and opened his jaws, sending out a huge blast of fire. It was the attack Flame Burst which would not only damage whoever it hit (if anyone) but also spread rapidly, hurting all the Pokemon around and setting a decent part of the tunnel on fire.
Delric acted fast, calling out to his Espeon. "Use Helping Hand first, aim it on Randy'L's Togepi! Hurry!" Being successful, Togepi's attack would be extremely boosted, making it even more powerful. "Next, use confusion on that Arcanine!"
It was too late though. Espeon began to attack, but backed away as the Arcanine sprayed fire all over the place. Delric grabbed Espeon and bolted behind the others, hoping they had Pokemon that could fight against a fire breathing monster like that.
Annabeth was beside him, and she silently cursed to herself. "I wish I had my Pokemon," she muttered, clenching her fists. "If I had my Salamence I could get rid of these guys no problem..."
For some reason, I felt she wasn't sure of her own words.
---
Thrym hadcaused a serious ruckus at the end of the tunnel after sealing the exit. Although there was a huge group of Team Rocket trainers, their combined force couldn't keep up with a properly trained powerful Pokemon.
The Swinub managed to escape the crowd of trainers, and in the confusion of all the ice and rocks falling around them, they couldn't locate him. They all went in a mad dash, looking all around for the missing Swinub. A few of the trainers stayed at the cave entrance, attempting to move the boulders out of the way and gain entrance in the cave where Arcanine and Houndoom had entered.
If Thrym could continue onwards, he'd eventually reach the big central building where he would find quite a sight inside...
---
Inside the central building, the rich young man had just been threaten by an evil Team Rocket secretary named Lo who attacked with a Murkrow.
As the boy asked Lo who they were, and made a few pathetic guesses, Lo raised an eyebrow, dumbstruck. "You really don't have a clue who we are?" she asked, laughing. "Oh, how funny. Let me tell you, little boy. You've wandered into the strongest, most powerful criminal group on the planet. Team Rocket!"
She then walked around her desk, petting her Murkrow. "And if you want to get out of here alive, you'd better send out what Pokemon you have and fight me. If not, well, that's an option too, haha. Not one I think you want to choose."

When Ms. Lo told the rich boy where he had ended up in he drew a blank for a moment until a comedic cartoon light bulb appeared on top of his head and lighted up. As he had been living very sheltered until now the name 'Team Rocket' didn't immediately ring any bells with him. The words 'strongest, most powerful criminal group' or not even the death threats didn't have quite the impact on the young trainer that Ms. Lo might have expected. The boy had such a powerful Pokemon that he felt like he had nothing to fear at least nothing this lady might do. He had the best money can buy, what could go wrong?
"If battle is what you want then battle is what you shall get." The boy said and over dramatically pointed at the secretary. It was an attempt to look cool, but to be fair he didn't quite pull it off and it looked more awkward than what he had intended.
Rich Boy Jonathan wants to battle.
"Swampert, come out." The boy, apparently named Jonathan said and threw his Poke Ball on the floor and as commanded his Swampert emerged. While type wise picking a ground type against a flying type might not been the smartest move this Swampert's high level would make up for it, if it only wasn't too high.
"Swampert take out that black bird." Jonathan commanded his Pokemon and it didn't go quite as awfully as last time with the Scizor, but the results were still not quite what the rich boy had had in his mind. The water Pokemon used the move 'Earthquake' an extremely powerful attack, but it wouldn't hit the Murkrow at all, in fact it wasn't even aimed at the bird but instead the general area around Swampert itself. Soon everyone in the Team Rocket HQ would feel the tremors and those near the Swampert and it would get worse the closer they were to this Pokemon. The rich boy was certainly quite shaken from this, both figuratively and literally and was now seeking cover from the quakes or more accurately panicking.
The quakes didn't last too long and somehow at least Jonathan managed to survive it without getting harmed too badly, though his heart was still racing and he looked scared. Luckily for him his Swampert hadn't ran off like his Scizor did and instead it just stood there looking disinterested.

As soon as Lucas finished his statement, two Pokemon rushed by him in what seemingly appeared to be a pursuit of his newfound friends. He wondered as to why the Arcanine and Houndoom seemed to have ignored him, but perhaps it had something to do with the voice in his head. The person behind the voice probably wanted Lucas to continue forward and leave his new friends behind.
Torn, Lucas had to make a decision: his new friends or his Riolu. To him, the decision became more apparent. Turning around, Lucas left his company and proceeded down the tunnel. He did not want to fathom the repercussions of his decision, but the trainers that accompanied him seemed capable enough to handle themselves.
Lucas ran forward, down the slightly illuminated tunnel. He grabbed a Poke Ball off his belt and released his Shinx. “Okay Cyndaquil, Shinx, get ready for battle. I have a feeling we are approaching Team Rocket’s base.” Running side by side, his Pokemon prepped for what was coming.
The exit to the tunnel and entrance to the base came rather quickly. Lucas and his Pokemon jumped through the hole, perhaps a bit too overly dramatic. They landed and glanced around the well built facility. He noticed Randy’L’s Pokemon off into the distance and though wise to stay clear of that area. Bringing any more undue attention to himself was unwise. He wanted to keep some element of surprise, except for the fact that this mysterious voice already knew he was approaching which probably negated any surprise. Still, Lucas had a few surprises himself.
He proceeded to go straight ahead when suddenly he became confronted by a Team Rocket Grunt. “Give me back my Riolu.”

Gray cursed.
"Of course, it HAD to be fire-types... Queen, stay back, and use Leer on the Houndoom, Aiko, Quick Attack, take advatage of Queenie's Leer!!!"
'I really need to catch more Pokémon...'
Queen stared at the Houndoom, something dark entering her eyes. Leer, an attack that lowered he opponent's physical defense. Aiko charged at the Houndoom at an incredible speed, a white trail of light behind her. The air current caused by the Quick Attack put out some of the flames in the tunnel.
Using this particular attack in this enclosed space was a double-edged sword. On on hand, the Houndoom couldn't evade the attack all that well, but on the other, Aiko was helpless if the opponent attacked her in turn. They had to hope that the other Pokémon and the Leer attack distracted it long enough...

The Trubbish sighed graciously as Hope helped it carrying Paola's bag. It seemed entirely grateful, like it had not had a kind act done for it in a very long time. Its mutated garbage arms sagged from its stain to keep the bag up. The ugly Pokemon was not something one typically would feel for, but at this point, one couldn't be blamed for batting an eye.
Paola's eyebrows narrowed at the approaching Houndoom and Arcanine. She shook her head disappointingly.
"I'm not going to be able to help you guys with this one. Fire types aren't my thing. Good luck," the Gym Leader said sarcastically.
But as the Flame Burst blasted down the tunnel, a glob of flame struck Paola's left arm. She staggered back with a yelp. Her hand shook as she brought it up to the blistering burn.
"Why would a Pokemon attack a trainer?" she asked in disbelief. "This is insane! Never mind, Trickster! Destroy them, I don't care what you have to do!"
The Haunter saluted her in response and looked around slightly to see if any other Pokemon would follow its behavior.
It approached the Arcanine (as no other Pokemon as of yet were attacking it using Toxic. It seemed to be following a strategy typically associated with the Poison Gym Leader, poison and weaken first and then strike later.
"Hey!" Paola shouted at Lucas. "That kid's running away! He's using his stupid Pokemon as an excuse to leave us! That brat!"
Meanwhile, the Trubbish waddled up to Paola out of concern. She merely brushed him away in annoyance.

Randy’L watched in anticipation and worry as Hope tried along with the other trainer’s pokemon to battle the two Fire-type dogs. Hope was the youngest and most inexperienced of Randy’L’s pokemon, and because of this Randy’L was worried that Hope might get hurt. She had all of the other trainers here to help protect her, but like the mother of any young child, Randy’L was still concerned for Hope’s safety, especially when she was engaging extremely dangerous opponents like these that wouldn’t hesitate to use lethal force.
As Hope continued on after hitting the Rocket Houndoom, she decided to keep her momentum going and stick with Secret Power for the moment for her next attack, and so simply bounded off of one of the walls, shooting back down the tunnel, this time aiming directly for the Arcanine. In addition, after Delric’s Espeon used Helping Hand, the white sphere around Togepi grew even larger and more intensely bright, showing that the Helping Hand had been successful in boosting its strength. Also, given how narrow the space of the tunnel was, it would now be nearly impossible for the Arcanine to dodge the attack, simply because there wasn’t really enough room for it.
Randy’L meanwhile was having problems of her own however, as the Flame Burst got her pretty good, setting her jacket on fire and burning her skin in multiple places, to which Randy’L winced greatly, flinching backward hard and clenching her teeth as she tried to force herself not to scream. Then, throwing her burning jacket off, Randy’L began stomping it on the ground in an attempt to save it from getting destroyed. This was difficult due to the fact that she was wearing sandals, and so ended up getting the edges of her feet burned a bit, but she soon succeeded, and so, picking the now partially burned and greatly dirtied jacket up, Randy’L put it back on. --------------- Meanwhile, at the Rocket Base…
Thrym had now reached the entrance to the Team Rocket building, and so, going in, he saw Jonathan’s Swampert appearing at least partially to battle Lo’s Murkrow, and so, he tentatively approached, trying to carefully make his way around what had become a battlefield so that he could continue to follow the cloaked man, whom he was still following via his scent. Unfortunately for him, Jonathan’s Swampert used Earthquake, a technique that Thrym didn’t really have much of any effective means of evading.
Looking around in panic as the ground began to shake, Thrym searched for any possible means he could use to avoid getting knocked out by the Earthquake. Swinub’s weren’t exactly known for their jumping ability, and so getting into the air, which was the usual strategy for avoiding Earthquake, wasn’t really an option for him. Running through all of his options, Thrym finally decided on trying to get to the one place where he wouldn’t be affected by the technique. The only problem would be that getting there would be extremely, extremely difficult.
Running forward, Thrym tried as best he could to maintain his footing, even though it was quickly failing on him, the tiles of the building’s floor being thrown around like little knives, and Thrym himself getting thrown into the air a few times only to slam back down. Still, he was doing his best to remain on his feet, and finally, when he was near enough, Thrym made his move, leaping up with as much force as his tiny stub-like legs could lift him. His goal was to land directly onto the back of Jonathan’s Swampert.
Although the Swampert probably wouldn’t like Thrym jumping onto its back, that place was really the only place that Thrym would have been able to get to in time where he could avoid the attack. He had already been partially hit by it though, and in his weakened state after having twice overused Superpower, he had still taken quite a beating from it even though he didn’t have to endure the entire attack.
OOC: Also, something I forgot to mention that would factor heavily into this battle with Hope is that her ability is Serene Grace, which has the effect of doubling the chance of added effects occurring. So, Secret Power, which normally only has an effect rate of 30%, would have an effect rate of 60% when she uses it. Just something to consider.

Inside the tunnel, the Arcanine and Houndoom were really getting attacked hard. First, Gray's Queen used quick attack. Right after, Arcanine was attacked by Toxic. Then Randy'L finished with her Hope using Secret Power on Arcanine as well.
Arcanine had no hope when it was 3 against one. He took the full force of the attacks and he went down quickly. Houndoom, however, was still up, but only for a split second longer.
Delric used his Confusion, and with the combined power of Hope's Secret Power, dodging was impossible.
They had defeated the two Team Rocket Pokemon.
Annabeth, who had been hiding behind the others this entire time, went back to the front lines. She squinted her eyes and just barely saw Lucas disappearing in the distance. She spun around to face the others.
"Well first of all, good job you guys! Really... I've never seen such an amazing Pokemon Battle before. Especially against Team Rocket..."
Delric stepped forward. "But Paola has a point. What about Lucas? He just ran ahead without eve helping.."
Annabeth paused, looking down somewhat somberly. "I'm in his situation as well, you know. His Pokemon, someone precious to him, was stolen. We're not his friends, are we? That Riolu is his friend. I'm not saying it's right, but we can't control him either."
Delric shrugged. "Well, the least we should do is keep moving."
Annabeth nodded and began to lead the way. A light could be seen at the very end of the tunnel. They reached it rather quickly, but when they emerged, it was not something Annabeth expected.
It was not the Team Rocket base. It was a forever stretching field of tulips. And standing there, waiting for them, was a Slowking.
"Greetings," said the Slowking in a wise dreary voice. "You've fallen right into our trap."
---
Elsewhere, Lucas just emerged from the real end of the tunnel, where the Team Rocket base was. He was immediately blocked by a Team Rocket Grunt. It was the same one from earlier, the one who originally stole his Riolu in the first place.
"Oh, so it's you again, eh?" yelled the Team Rocket Grunt in a nasty voice. "If you wanna fight my Dugtrio, then its your own funeral!"
He threw the pokeball in the air and a half weakened Dugtrio emerged. It didn't look to be in any condition to fight, but the Team Rocket Grunt didn't care. He'd push his Pokemon no matter what the risk.
"Dugtrio, use--" Suddenly the Team Rocket Grunt froze. He lifted his Pokeball and the Dugtrio retruned. He then looked at Lucas and in a harsh voice said: "The boss wants to see you. It's in that big building in the center of town..."
The Grunt then turned and ran to help out the other Team Rocket trainers who were having trouble.
Lucas would then hear a voice in his head:
"Congratulations, Lucas. The other trainers have fallen into my trap. You are free to enter my headquarters and claim your Riolu. Of course, he may not be the same as you remember when you get here. But he'll be everything you need and want and more. Hurry, young Lucas."
---
Inside the Headquarters on the bottom floor, serious chaos was going on. Jonathan sent out a powerful Swampert, who used Earthquake. It was an extremely dangerous move, but for Murkrow, it didn't hit him at all.
"Hah, what kind of trainer are you!? You can't even use your Pokemon! The boss was ignorant to be afraid of you trainers!"
It was then that Lo noticed a small Pokemon jumping off of Swampert. She quickly tossed a Pokeball out, and a Seviper emerged.
"Seviper, quickly, use wrap on that little Pokemon!" yelled Lo, and Seviper instantly obeyed. It jumped straight at the exhausted and injured Thrym, and all the luck was on her side. With the Pokemon wrapped up tightly, it wouldn't be going anywhere.
She also commanded her Murkrow to use Wing Attack against the Swampert, and it went swooping down at it, attacking head on.
Things were not looking good for anyone.

Lucas had been confronted by the same Rocket goon that kidnapped his Pokemon. Preparing for battle, Lucas was about to allow Cyndaquil to go forth, but when the Rocket Grunt had sent out his already exhausted Dugtrio for battle, Lucas halted his Pokemon. While true he and his Cyndaquil was at a type disadvantage, Lucas was not going to battle a Pokemon that was unfit for battle. It was immoral. “You must be a sad excuse for a trainer. Not only do you kidnapped other people’s Pokemon, but you battle using Pokemon on the brink of collapse. You use them as tools and nothing more. You should be ashamed of yourself.”
Lucas was so frustrated that his anger began to cloud his judgment. He wanted nothing more than to cause the Rocket Grunt harm; a physical injury of some sorts. Alas, the Rocket Grunt was slightly taller, albeit skinnier than Lucas. Still, Lucas could resort to violence.
Suddenly, as if his insults actually managed to penetrate the Grunt’s brain, he returned his Dugtrio to its Poke Ball and scampered off.
Hm, he said something about his boss though. Suddenly, just like before, Lucas heard the mysterious voice once more. The voice congratulated Lucas for allowing the other trainers to fall into its trap, something Lucas does regret. The voice continued by urging Lucas to make his way into the headquarters to claim his Riolu. “I swear to Arceus if you have done anything to harm my Pokemon I will make you pay.”
Lucas was seriously agitated and he began to run forward. The only real problem was that he had no idea where exactly this person was located. After several minutes of aimlessly wandering around, Lucas finally found a structure that seemed appropriate for the leader to be.
Inside the main headquarters, Lucas happened noticed a young trainer having a battle with some woman. She must have been a high ranking official, or at least that was the vibe Lucas received. He knew he was in the right place. Lucas ignored the battle that was going on between the young trainer’s Swampert, which was on a rampage, and the Rocket Secretary’s Seviper and Mukrow.
Lucas located the stairs and began his climb. After several minutes, Lucas reached a room. Hesitant, Lucas slowly entered, ready to face the challenges that would surely await him.
