Pokemon.
A single word is not enough to encompass the whole idea. There are hundreds, possibly even thousands of different types and kinds of Pokemon that roam the all of the earth, from the skies, to the mountains, to the bottom of the sea.
Their relationships to each other are interlocked through Pokemon Trainers, who find Pokemon and befriend them. They then use Pokemon to protect people, as personal friends, or even as fighting companions aiming for the top of the world.
It is in Viridian City where our journey begins, and where an adventure that will encompass the entire world sets sail.
---
Delric stumbled out of the Pokemon Center, almost falling on his face in the process. He quickly regained his balance and looked down into his arms to make sure his precious cargo was still safe.
In his arms was a small Munna, a very odd kind of Pokemon to Delric. He had found it a few weeks ago under a large tree, wounded and asleep. He couldn't just leave it there, so he took it with him and has been carrying it nonstop. He tried to use a Pokeball on it, but to no avail.
But it was healed now... Or it should have been. Nurse Joy said that Munna was healthy, overall, but she was stuck in some deep coma, and she didn't know what to do. He'd have to bring his Pokemon to a more qualified doctor or professor.
Delric heard a purring sound and something rub against his leg. Looking down, he saw his other Pokemon, his first Pokemon: A Shiny Espeon. It had found him when he was just a young child (though he was only 15 now), and had saved his life. They had been a team ever since. He gave her a small put on her head and she purred back at him.
Although she didn't say so, Delric knew she was concerned for the Munna as well.
"Don't worry," said Delric, looking around the small, green town. "We'll find someone who can help us for sure."

Delric might have seen the girl approach him. He might have not. She came from an angle, about 4 o' clock in his perspective, following him from the Pokemon Center.
"Shiny. That's a shiny. Oh... I've been looking for a shiny Grimer for so long, they're green, not purple, much like this one."
The girl knelt down next to the Espeon and observed it with her huge, muddy brown eyes.
The purple ponytail on the back of her head stuck out a exotic bird's tail feathers. Her backpack weighed on her form, bring her head even further downward. An Ultra and Premiere Ball dangled off the side of it. Even if Delric had heard of this person before, it might be hard to assume who she was based on her plain white T-shirt and khaki shorts, versus elaborate Elite Trainer attire.
She seemed to be talking to herself as she never looked at or acknowledged Delric. She was not really speaking directly to the Espeon either.
"It's too bad Espeon's are Psychic's. Terrible type, really. Cheaters, that's what they are."

The people of Viridian City would be witness to a rather strange sight, even to those who were used to the quirks of the Pokémon and their trainers.
A Kangaskhan, one of the rarest Pokémon in the Kanto region, was walking into the city, headed straight for the Pokémon Center. Sitting on her shoulder was a young man, Gray Skye. Patting her head, he signaled for her to stop, and jumped off. Turning to her, he grinned.
"Thanks for giving me a ride here, Kangaskhan."
He looked at the smaller Pokémon in Kangaskhan's pouch. "And you be more careful in the future and make sure to stay with her at all times. Stepping on a Weedle's stinger is not pleasent, as you've felt. The poison isn't deadly, but it hurts like crazy. Remember, the bandage will fall off on its own once the wound has healed and the swelling is gone."
The Kangaskhan picked him up and gave him a big hug. Gray could hear his ribs groan in protest. He patted her arm and wheezed.
"Yeah, I'll miss ya, too. Now run along, don't want an overzealous trainer to try and catch you, right?"
His friend just nodded at him and, roaring once, charged out of the city, soon disappearing in the distance. Gray smirked. This is what he was here for, to learn in order to become a professional caretaker and breeder. Helping Pokémon, that is what he loved.
"Kanto sure has some really interesting Pokémon, they're so very different from the ones in Unova..." He took out a Pokéball and tossed it, his trusty Servine, Queen, appearing in a white flash.
"Come on, Queenie, let's get to the Pokémon Center and get a room." Queen nodded and they made their way there.
Upon their arrival in front of the Center, Gray's gaze fell upon the Munna in a boy's arms. His eyes widened, and he quickly made his way over to him.
"Hey, you there, tell me, where did you find that Munna? It usually isn't found anywhere but Unova."

Delric jumped when he heard the girl appear at his side speaking to him. He took a breath to calm himself then examined the girl. Seeing the Pokeballs at her side, he came to the conclusion she was most likely a Pokemon Trainer, like he was.
However, he didn't like how she was interested in his Espeon. That was one Pokemon he was very protective over.
At the comment about Psychics being terrible, Espeon gave a small hiss, walking away from the girl and standing behind Delric.
"Hey, don't call her a cheater!" said Delric in his most daring voice possible. He turned and began petting her. "Psychics are just as good as any other type."
While still facing his Espeon, he asked, "Well, what kind of Pokemon do you use?"
However, before he could hear an answer, a man rushed up to him, startling him again, and he was questioned about where he found the Munna that was resting fast asleep in his arms.
"W-why are all you people gathering around me!?" said Delric, taking a step back. He turned towards the man, holding Munna a bit more tighter. "If you have to know, I found her asleep near Celadon City. Don't ask me how she got in this region, I don't know...."
Delric looked from the girl to the man. He took a breath and finally said, "Who are you guys anyway?"

The girl gave a tired smile. Her muddy brown eyes became even more fogged as she observed the way Delric treated his Espeon. She could have been looking at paint dry on a wall and she would have had the same expression. She only said one word in response to his question, though it was said softly and under the newcomer's words.
"Poison."
She stood and straightened out her large backpack. It was then she noticed the comatose Munna. She would have found it to be adorable, if it were not for the fact it was a Psychic Pokemon.
"It doesn't matter who I am," she said rudely, but she continued to stay. "A lot of Pokemon have been wandering between regions, it seems. I've captured one of your Unova kind recently. Before you know it, the regions are going to be blurred. It's too bad."
She placed her hands on her hips and gave Gray a dull stare, like she was annoyed with him. She turned back to Delric.
"So you found the thing near Celadon? What, like earlier today? I mean, it's not too hard to get from there to here but are you meaning to tell me it hasn't woken up all day?"

Lucas Newton shredded his way through the thick shrubbery of Viridian Forest, hoping to find a clearing very soon. He entered the forest several days ago hoping to research the social behavior of Caterpie. Before he entered the forest, Lucas caught an injured Caterpie and sent it back to his ranch for healing and rehabilitation. After a few days, his mother phoned him explaining that the Caterpie has made a full recovery, however, it has become antisocial to the point depression. Lucas knew he needed to study the Pokemon species in their natural habitat understand its nature.
On his second day in the forest, he was attacked by a swarm of Beedrill, a Pokemon that is naturally territorial. They only appear to attack humans when provoked, and since Lucas did not provoke them, he though it odd to be attacked. This was an occurrence he would have to study some other day. Lucas exhausted most of his supplies defending himself against the swarm, which led him for an early departure from the forest. This is where Lucas finds himself at the moment.
“Ah, finally.” Lucas emerged from the forest to a grassy clearing with Viridian City off into the distance. While no where near the biggest city in Kanto, Viridian City had its own charm that reminded Lucas of his hometown of Violet City. Lucas continued forward through the clearing, taking notice of several different species of Pokemon that he would like to view. He also noticed several trainers, some playing with their Pokemon while others engaged in battle.
Lucas reached the edge of the city and proceeded to enter. For such a quaint town, it sure seemed lively to him. To be fair, this was Lucas’ first time in Viridian City, so he was unsure how lively the city normally is. He got directions to the PokeCenter from the nearest pedestrian and proceeded to his destination. His objective was to replenish his supplies first and heal his Pokemon. His Pokemon were in decent shape, just exhausted from recent events. A little rest inside their PokeBalls would suffice.
“There you are.” Lucas spotted the recognizable red roof of the PokeCenter and entered. He was immediately greeted by Nurse Joy.
“Hi, how may I help you?”
“Good day to you. I would like you to heal my Pokemon for me please.” Lucas handed over his four Pokemon to Nurse Joy.
“It should not take long. About ten minutes.”
“Okay no problem. I am going over there and buy some supplies.” Lucas wandered over to the opposite side of the PokeCenter and located the Mart within. He approached the lady at the front counter, “hi, I need some supplies. May I have 10x Super Potions, 10x Poke Balls, and 10x Full Heals.” Lucas thought that should be enough to make it to the next city. He already had enough food for he and his Pokemon.
The lady came back with his supplies, he paid and thanked her and walked away. He still had several minutes to spare so he decided to wander about the PokeCenter. He could not wait to find adventure in this town and throughout Kanto.

Coming out of the Viridian Forest roughly simultaneously to Lucas was another figure, a pretty young girl who despite her dark skin, had pure white hair that was long, flowing down her back in a wavy manner. The girl head a container with a Pokemon Egg in it in her hands, and in addition to this, three Pokemon followed her. There was a Swinub who carried a Togepi on its back, and also a Timburr, a pokemon that like both Delric’s Munna and Gray’s Servine, was a pokemon usually only found in the Unova region.
In fact, like Gray, this girl was herself a native of that Region, although one wouldn’t know that from looking at her. She wore a Poketch, which was a device distributed from a company headquartered in Sinnoh, on her arm. She preferred these to the more popular Xtransceiver used in Unova, as she felt the Poketch was more functionally useful whereas the Xtransciever was focused more on social interaction. Castelia City in Unova was a world center for Business, so it wasn’t too difficult for the girl to get herself a Poketch as even foreign companies like the one that made the Poketch operated there in limited quantities.
While in Viridian Forest the girl had spent time recording the various plants found there and their medicinal uses. Often one wouldn’t have access to a PokeMart while in the middle of the Wilderness, so knowing how to make medicine from available materials, such as plants, was a useful skill. She had learned this from being taught by Rangers, one of whom she had studied under for quite some time.
Sighing as she came into the town after leaving the forest, the girl, decided she might as well look around and see if there was anything interesting to do in this town. She had heard that there was a Gym here, but she wasn’t the type to just go in an challenge a Gym without thinking, and would probably want to think things through a little before challenging it. Glancing over and noticing that there was a small lake in the middle of the town, she walked over to it, glancing over at a small group of other kids about her age standing outside the local Pokemon Center as she did.
Shrugging as she watched them for a few seconds before turning away, and then approaching the banks of the small lake, then simply sitting down in front of it. Taking her large rucksack off of her back, the girl breathed a heavy sigh of relief as the large weight was relieved from her shoulders. Then turning to it, she opened up one of the compartments and pulled out her Super Rod, which was compressed down to fit into a smaller space. Extending it by pulling on the last segment, she began to prepare to fish with it, finally putting a Tympole lure on the end of it when she was finished.
Finally, reaching back and then throwing the rod out, she then simply sat and began to wait while her three pokemon sat with her. Her Swinub cuddled up next to her, rubbing affectionately against her leg, while her Togepi, quite small even for that species, as it was still an infant, hopped into her lap and also cuddled up to her there. Her Timburr however was apparently the “tough guy” of their group, as he simply positioned his large timber log which he carried around with him upright, and then in an rather show-offy manner, jumped clean up into the air and landed on top of it, where he then sat down, amazingly without causing the timber to fall over, apparently due to his great sense of balance.
From atop his perch, he watched as Gray approached and then sent out his pokemon, then seeming to watch with semi-interest in the conversation the group was having, although so far, none of the participants had really caught his interest. The girl meanwhile just continued fishing, moving her lure around a bit and recasting a couple of times while she waited for something to bite onto it.
OOC: According to the PokeArth on Serebii, the only pokemon that live in the lake in Viridian City, which actually exists in the games, are Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Magicarp. Still, for the purposes of the RP I guess we could have there be something else too.

Gray frowned and crossed his arms.
"Normally, you would be right, the regions do blur, especially the Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh regions, even the Hoenn region has Pokémon from the others, but not Unova, it's too far from the others, heck, one can't even fish for Magikarp there, and any ships are thoroughly searched for any stowaway Pokémon. Pokémon from anywhere else are only found with foreign trainers." He gently ran a hand over the Munna's head.
"This little one came here via a trainer, and that trainer is most likely an idiot who can't take care of his team..."
He sighed. "From what I can tell, Munna is simply completely exhausted, to the point it's fallen into some sort of hibernation. It happens, it is a Dream Eater Pokémon, after all and if there are no drams to feed off, well... I could be mistake, though. Munna are rare and research on them is barely progressing."

Delric already didn't like this girl. Her tone of voice, her criticism, all of it just irked him. He kept his Munna close as he answered her.
"Woken up all day?" he asked surprised. "No you misunderstand. This Munna hasn't woken up for about two weeks..."
Gray then explained a possible cause of her coma, and it did make some sense to Delric. Delric was no kind of Pokemon expert, so it was more of a solution than anything he could think up.
"Well what do we do to fix her?" he asked, holding Munna out towards him slightly. "Even if its not mine, I can't just leave it like this..."
---
Gray may have had a chance to respond, and he may not have. Either way, out of nowhere, a huge explosion occurred behind them at the Pokemon Center. Anyone in the immediate area would see the fireball caused and feel the heat from the shockwave.
Delric would have hit the ground hard if it wasn't for his Espeon using her psychic abilities to keep him afloat. Once he got his balance he turned around to see that half of the Pokemon Center was in ruin and the other part was on fire, and that fire was spreading fast. If it wasn't put out soon, it would certainly hurt or even kill the pokemon and people currently in the Center.
There was a scream, and a blur as if someone was moving very quickly, and then whatever it was, it was gone. Delric wasn't sure what he just saw, but he did know that there were people inside who needed help.
"Any of you guys have water pokemon? We need to put out that fire!"
---
Inside the Pokemon Center was a teenage girl who'd been almost directly hit by the explosion. She laid on the floor, propped up against a table with fire all around her. Above her part of the roofing was breaking apart, and within seconds it could fall and crush her.
She moaned in pain, rolling to her side where her back was exposed. Small burns dotted her back, obviously being her main injury.
"Help..." she muttered, her voice faint but still able to be heard over the fire. "Pokemon... Stop them.."

Gray shielded his eyes from the heat, and cursed loudly.
"What in the Original Dragon's name?!"
He couldn't believe it. Who would do such a thing to a Pokémon Center, of all places? A safe haven for injured and sick Pokémon. He heard, and after a second, saw the girl in the fire. He didn't really hear what she said, but decided, that, whatever it was, saving her was just as important right now. Angrily, he ripped his second Pokéball off his belt and tossed it.
"Aiko, I need your help." In a flash his Umbreon partner appeared. "Use Psychic, stop that debris from falling. I'll get her out of there!" He turned to Queen. "I know you can't stand fire, but this is an emergency. If anything comes near, whether living or not, use anything you've got to get it away from us, alright?!"
Queen hesitated, but nodded. He turned to the other two trainers.
"You guys try and find a way to deal with the fire. I don't have any water types, so this is all I can do."
He readied himself. "Now, Aiko, Psychic!!!" The debris was surrounded by a blue glow and was held in place. Carefully, but quickly he made his way through the towards the girl.
"Let's get you out of here. Can you stand up?"

The white haired girl, whom had been fishing unsuccessfully up until that point, relaxing as she simply enjoyed the peaceful weather and scenery, was needless to say quite shocked when the explosion occurred, especially since her hearing it was followed directly afterward with getting hit on the head by Atlas’ Timber, which fell over right onto her head due to the force of the blast, which although weak from this distance, was still enough, especially when combined with how much Atlas’ surprise at it threw off his balance, to send it toppling over.
“Owww, aah, that’s smarts.” She said, speaking for the first time, then turning to her Timburr, Atlas, “Atlas, can you try to be a little more careful with your log?...I think you might have given me a concussion.” She said, rubbing her head, then looking up at the fire. Gazing at it for no more than an instant, she quickly retorted, “Guess we should help out too. Thrym, Dig a tunnel over there and try and give anyone trapped under the debris another way out if there isn’t one. Atlas, make that log you just hit me with while you were goofing off useful with your Wide Guard so you can lead me, Hope, and whoever else here’s got the guts to brave that inferno with at least some degree of safety. And don’t worry, the protective Wax Finish I had placed on it should protect it from burning as long as we don’t keep it in there too long.”
She then turned to her smallest Pokemon, her Togepi, Hope, and smiled, “Hope, I need you here too. Use your Future Sight to try and find anyone trapped under the wreckage so we can know where to look. Come on guys, let’s move!”
Following her commands, the girl’s Swinub dug a hole deep down and began tunneling towards the burning building, aiming to come up in the direct center of the pile of rubble that was formed by the collapsed half of the building. Her Timburr meanwhile, held his large rectangular log that he carried with him out in front of him horizontally, using it as a sort of shield or perhaps a mantlet as he led the girl and her Togepi in towards the wreckage. The Togepi’s eyes meanwhile were glowing bright blue, showing she was using her Future Sight ability, which granted her some degree of Precognition that she was using to try and divine where any people trapped by the fire might be located.
Apparently despite the girl’s previously silent behavior, she was quick to react when it was called for, and able to think well under fire to come up with effective ways of using each of her Pokemon’s abilities to help in whatever situation she might be confronted with.

The girl scoffed at Gray. She seemed to think he was wrong about the migration theory. Perhaps she had experienced something that contradicted his statement, at least in her mind.
The Munna was out for two weeks? Her expression became just as shocked as Delric's. She was taken back by the severity of the situation and looked away in embarrassment.
"Fixing Pokemon... that's not something I would know about..."
The girl clutched onto her backpack and went to walk away. However, the explosion knocked her to the ground. She scrapped her hands and her backpack fell forward and hit the back of her head.
She rolled on the ground slightly, moaning from the pain of the sudden shock. She slipped off her backpack and sat up on the ground. The fire reflected off her eyes, which were wide with strange wonder.
"Why would someone blow up a Pokemon Center? It's free service."
She stood up slowly and kept staring at the flames. Her eyes were dull and tired, as though the situation was a minor roadblock in whatever destination she had been planning.
"What... what should I do? I don't have Water Pokemon... or anything that would help really..."
Her hand lingered toward the Pokeballs on the side of her backpack.

A sonic ringing pierced Lucas’ ears; his head throbbing as is someone was tossing a brick on the inside of his brain. He felt an immeasurable heat on his face. He opened his eyes and through a daze, he could tell he was trapped in a standing inferno. He was still in the Pokemon Center, what was left of it, and what was left of it was on fire. Wait. What happened? Lucas took a few moments to try and remember how exactly he ended up in this predicament…
…Lucas Newton sat patiently awaiting for Nurse Joy to call his name. The Pokemon Center seemed rather busy, with approximately 15 or so people that Lucas could see. Most were just trainers looking to heal their Pokemon or buy supplies. Lucas noticed one oddity: a man dressed in black that was carefully staring in the general proximity of a teenage girl standing near a counter adjacent to the Mart. What Lucas found odd was that the man was wearing all black on a nice, summer day. Lucas could not contemplate the man’s wardrobe decision because at that moment, he heard his name called by Nurse Joy.
He got up and approached the counter and picked up his Poke Balls from the tray. “Thank you so much.” Lucas placed his Poke Balls on his belt and turned to leave. The next few moments were an absolute blur. He heard a loud explosion and was propelled through the air a good five or six meters, landing with a thump on the floor of what was left of the door. Lucas was dazed and confused, but he never lost consciousness…
Reaching up to console his throbbing head, Lucas pulled his hand away from his forehead to discover a trickle of blood. Apparently, he was bleeding and probably had a concussion. Looking around at the devastation, he noticed that there were other people and Pokemon in even more peril. He also noticed that there were several people assisting injured. Without thinking about his own safety, Lucas reached down, grabbed all two of his Pokemon and released them. “Cyndaquil, Riolu. I need you to help. Cyndaquil, do you think you can control the flames? I need you to direct them away from the injured people and Pokemon. Riolu, once Cyndaquil does that, I need you to help the injured get to safety.”
Just like their trainer, the two Pokemon charged in, with the sole purpose of helping the injured. These two Pokemon were no strangers to being helpless and defenseless and aiding those in need was the sole purpose at the moment. Cyndaquil began using his Flame Wheel attack, which created a type of vacuum that sucked the flames toward the Pokemon. He was unable to control the larger plumes, but the smaller flames near some of the Pokemon he was about to control.
Cyndaquil first noticed an Oddish in dire need of assistance. Since Oddish was a grass type Pokemon, it was severely weakened by the flames. Cyndaquil charged in and immediately dispersed the flames. Riolu scooped up the injured Oddish and immediately transported it to safety outside the burning Pokemon Center. This would continue for quite some time as Lucas himself was aiding Nurse Joy. “Come on Nurse Joy. I’ve got you.” Lucas’ was muffled because he wrapped his button shirt around his face as to minimize his smoke inhalation.
The young nurse was severely coughing and struggled to stay on her feet for more than a few strides. It was evident she was in pain. She had a small contusion on her head as well on her ankle. Lucas managed to get Nurse Joy to the edge of the rubble and handed her to someone standing outside. He thought for a second it was Officer Jenny, but he could not be certain. Lucas ignored the person’s plea to not go back in. There was still plenty of people and Pokemon inside that needed help.

Delric felt glad that a lot of the surrounding trainers were already sending out their Pokemon to assist in the wounded. However, one girl was just standing there, doing nothing. Paola.
"I don't have water Pokemon either, but that isn't stopping us!" he shouted at her. He didn't wait around to see if she would respond. He set off immediately, doing what he can to help by pushing wooden debris and stone walls out of the way.
Espeon helped as well, using her innate psychic abilities to move as much as she could, the same as Gray was doing with his Pokemon. He had an Umbreon, and Delric wondered if Espeon was happy to be working with its cousin.
Delric turned his focus back to the wounded, and he helped as many people as possible away from the burning, collapsing building.
---
The girl's eyes were still blurry. All around her she could see vague shapes and splashes of muddy colors. However, she did hear a voice in her ear. At first it was like a far away echo, but it soon became clear.
It was Gray, and he was the first one to get to the girl. She lifted her hand up to him, but she couldn't move any more than that. "Listen to me," she muttered, her voice faint. She could only hope he could hear her over the fire and the crumbling building.
"Listen," she repeated. "One is... One is still here."
---
A man in a black outfit with a dark red "R" stamped on the back stood on the opposite side of the crumbling building. In his hands were two shiny Pokeballs, freshly stolen while everyone was occupied with saving people.
He peeked around the edge of the building and saw a few trainers assisting the others. His eyes went bright when he saw some very rare, valuable Pokemon.
"Heh, I'm sure Boss would love me if I got my hands on those beauts," he said in a deep, crusty voice. Without hesitation he jumped out of the rubble and attempted to grab a Riolu.
Lucas' Riolu.

Shortly after having entered the scene of the fire, the mysterious white-haired girl was quickly handed the Pokemon Center’s resident Nurse Joy by Lucus, who left her without even really acknowledging her existence. Rolling her eyes with a smirk as she glanced at the boy while taking Nurse Joy in her arms and then setting her down gently outside. The girl decided she might as well use her medical skills, of which she had to an extensive degree due to her training, and so began treating the Nurse first, giving her some basic medical care after quickly running over, pulling out, and then bringing back her large first aide kit from her rucksack.
She trusted that her pokemon could handle themselves, being confidant in their abilities and the training she had given them. Still, she stopped every once and a while from her work to dare a glance into the fire to see how they were doing. Thrym, her Swinub had finished digging the escape tunnel to the center of the large pile of debris created from the collapsed half of the building, and so, popping up like a Digglet from his hole, he looked around, spotting a two people as well as an injured Mankey that had gotten caught by the falling debris.
All three were unconscious, and so, sighing to himself, Thrym quickly utilized his Icicle Crash ability, inhaling deeply, and then blowing hard while first keeping his mouth closed, he created an extremely cold chill inside his mouth which began to freeze his teeth, with his large lower canines receiving the focus of the chill, causing icicle tusks to grow out from his mouth. These extended out a small distance, and then as the two tusks came inward, he had them combine to form what was essentially a miniature bulldozer scoop. He had been taught to do this for situations like this one, as this bulldozer construction, when combined with another of his abilities, allowed him to essentially act just like a real bulldozer, albeit a very small one.
Tensing up his body, Thrym then began to glow with a bright red light that surrounded him as an aura. This was the physical manifestation of his Superpower ability, a powerful move that he had yet to fully master, but which granted him immense physical strength for short periods. And so, using this, Thrym began to bulldoze through the debris, climbing up it at a slant as he went along, and then parting much of it to the sides as he began to create a tunnel out from under the small space he had come up in where the victims were trapped. Eventually he popped out near the top of the debris pile, having gone up so as to avoid the chance of a cave in of the small tunnel he had created, which would have almost certainly happened if he had simply gone straight. The small brown fur ball would now be visible sitting on top of the pile outside of the entrance to his tunnel, as the red glow faded and he began to pant shallowly but quickly, having exhausted himself after using Superpower for that long.
Atlas meanwhile continued to lead the rescue effort, his Wide Guard provided via his timber log allowing him to protect the people following behind him from the flames and debris. Suddenly though, hope jumped up on top of his log without warning, and immediately shot a well-aimed Signal Beam in what appeared to be a direct trajectory for Lucas’ Riolu.
In reality, her Future Sight had allowed her to sense the Rocket Grunt’s sneak attack before it even occurred, her heightened awareness and precognitive abilities meaning she would react to it before even Riolu most likely. Her Signal Beam, so named for its bright eye-grabbing rainbow flashes of colors that would surround it as it shot out, would both grab the attention of everyone in the area, not only because of its shiny and beautiful appearance, but also because of how apparently abruptly she had performed it. This would mean that the beam would also serve to quickly alert them all to the Rocket’s presence as well, being as he was the true target of the attack, as shown when he jumped out directly into its path as it was being fired.
The disorienting flash of colors the Rocket would see if the beam actually struck him would also stand a fairly good chance of leaving him stunned and vulnerable [it has a 10% chance of inducing confusion]. The girl who had by now moved on to other victims that were being brought out, treating them as well, stopped for a moment as she saw the telltale glow of her Togepi’s Signal Beam, and then glancing over to where she had fired it, her eye’s narrowing as she gazed upon the Rocket, someone she recognized instantly by his uniform, she smirked, whispering under her breath, “That’s my girl.”
