This last January, Shark a' Pult approached Hitotsumami and I about restarting the old website and RPG. This forum was originally composed to seek out old friends and continue the fun we experienced in past years.
So far it has worked. We've welcomed back many members and solidified the forum into an enjoyable environment. Hitotsumami has worked especially hard to bring this place to where it is now.
The One Piece RPG in particular was designed for personal use, much like a table top RPG composed of close friends. We discovered years ago that a stat-less RPG can be just as fun as one with stats. We've created beautiful, captivating stories. I have learned more about writing with you than I have from any of my college level Creative Writing courses.
This forum has never been about business. I cannot speak for most members, but this place has become a refuge for me from larger, corporate-like forums. Old and new members should always be welcome, not because they contribute to a growing number but because they can add just as much discussion and creativity to this place as the rest of us have.
That being said, I would like to state an unspoken policy that has been a staple in our forum history since OPHQ.
Members are not permitted to personally attack other members. There is no situation where name-calling and other immature acts are ever acceptable.
Too many members have been involved in recent events for any action to be taken against their accounts. Let me make this clear. From now on, any personal attack that I am made aware of will result in a one day ban. If attacks are repeated, I will consider heavier punishment. This will occur whether or not you were aware of the content of this topic. It is your responsibility to read these topics as a member of this forum. It is disappointing that only some members contribute to posting in these.
Criticism for a member's posts is fine, so long as it is constructive and with good reason. "It sucks" or "This has been done before" is not fair criticism. These statements cannot be learned from. Rather say "This part of your piece doesn't work because..." or "This has been done before when..." The opposing member should also not be offended when their material is criticized.
I encourage members to report offensive posts through a private message to me. The chatbox cannot be monitored or edited. Copying and pasting offensive material from the chat directly into a PM would work just as well, however. The chatbox follows the same rules as the forums.
I consider many of you to be some of my dearest friends. People are never consistent and it can be frustrating to deal with them sometimes. However, you have to give them a chance. Years ago, for example, I thought Shark a' Pult was going to be an issue with his extreme ideas. Little did I know, his first RP Thread, Around the World, would be the best we have ever had. If I did not trust him, I guarantee Manga Blast would not be here today. The RPG and everything else would have ended a long time ago. It's time we give all members this same respect so we can grow as a community, not in member count necessarily but in quality.
On a side note, I will be writing official forum rules so that recent events do not repeat themselves.
