So wait, since when did the fight that used to be clear and obvious parody of hardboiled manly manga become an actual manly, hardboiled manga? That being said, I very much enjoyed Senor Pink's backstory. It's not the sort of thing I would normally expect from One Piece, and the sudden shift in mood was more than a tad jarring, but it was very much appreciated nonetheless. Honestly, it's the sort of story that could easily be expanded to several chapters, but it was fine, given what little time we got. I now wonder if all the wacky weirdos we've seen up to this point have some tragic reasoning behind their quirks. I also couldn't help but notice the writing on the back of Senor Pink's shirt. Is "Don't cry" just another random bit of English, or is it a reminder from Senor Pink to himself? Hm...
Just a random thought, but I think Dressrosa has featured more romance than any other arc thus far. While love has certainly been brought up before in the series, we've certainly never seen so much of it, so centered. There's Kyros and Scarlet, Sai and Baby 5, Leo and Manshelly, now Senor Pink and Lucy Anne, Bartolomeo and the entirety of the Straw Hat Pirates... Not that I consider this a bad thing, mind you.
As a final note, I couldn't help but notice Franky's usage of the phrase "Strong Style" near the beginning of the chapter. Was that translation accurate? Was this intentional? Is that a reference to what I think it's a reference to? Someone tell me, I gotta know!

Please tell me Franky was referencing the King of Strong Style! Please!
Wow, I didn't expect One Piece to touch on infant death. Excuse me but holy shit. I especially didn't expect them to do it with Senior Pink. Again, that was another amazing chapter and I'm surprised to see such a turn in his character.
