It was a nice day out. A number of large white clouds filled up the sky as they drifted across the blue sky, occasionally passing in front of the sun to cast temporary shadows on what would otherwise be a bright day. The sea was calmer still, with only some light waves as the ship traveled across in its route to an unknown destination.
"Well I can honestly say I'm glad to be out of that whole mess. Nice place, Clockwork Island, but not exactly somewhere I'd vacation with the family."
Kaede Young sat on the deck with her legs propped up on a footstool, sporting goggles and drinking a tall glass of melonade. It had been a few days since their departure from the previous island, but things were not at all bad, and she wondered if this was what a regular day in Solaine's profession was like. After coming all this way and following the trail she had seen so much, it had been quite an adventure to say the least, and she was at least a little sad that they were en route to what was most likely their final destination. It was better not to dwell on that however; for now, she would just enjoy things the way they were. Time well spent with... friends. Well, some of them friends anyway.
"What would you say, footrest? And stop moving so much!"
With a kick she attempted to stabilize her footrest, though the crown prince of Ravunya was not the most optimal of choices. Then again, Snake Havey was not the most optimal of opponents. Someone who could actually put forth a challenge would have been better so all he was good for, shamefully, was a footrest. She had hoped that he would be good for that at least, but it seemed she might have been mistaken.

"You bitch!"
Snake snarled at Kaede as he was rudely awoken by the kick. Disoriented he looked around himself, finding himself now aboard a ship out on the ocean, and strangely enough, being used as a footrest by that damn bounty hunter, Kaede Young.
His memory of Clockwork Island was strangely hazy. He remembered forcing his way in, laying waste to hordes of machines and clocks. More clocks, more clock monsters. Jeez. It was so monotonous, had he fallen asleep out of boredom?
With a start, Snake remembered finding Kaede locked in a cage at the top of the tower, the odd being known as Tock imprisoning her. Intent on freeing the bounty hunter and settling the old score, Snake had temporarily incapacitated Tock and began forcing open the cage. Of course, Tock had come back at the worst moment, and it seemed that Kaede had taken the opportunity to earn herself another win with a decisive attack on the distracted warrior prince.
Hadn't he woken up after that? Had he been awake or anything else that had happened during the conflict in Clockwork Island? Why was it all so hazy and indistinct in his mind...had Kaede attacked him a second time during the tower incident?
Regardless...
"This time, we're settling this, no tricks."
Snake stood up roughly, throwing the girl's legs off his back while drawing Luis from where he was tied around his waist.

Beth stepped out of a pink and blue portal. The portals were somewhat odd in appearance. If viewed from the side, they looked like a straight line of either pink or blue. If looked straight into, they were a vortex of non-mixing pink and blue, like water and oil mixed in a cup.
She crouched and maneuvered around the back of the ship, hoping she was not seen by any of the others. She sighed in relief, seeing Kaede and Snake busy arguing.
Beth stood and watched the two, placing on her hands on the wall. She had an obnoxious grin on her face. She found joy in watching fights. She recalled a time as a child where she would sneak out to wander near the local bars to witness any random brawls that might start.
"Hey! Kaede!" she called out. "Snake's weakness is his mother! Insult his mother! Like, hey, Snake! Your mom’s rear's so big they've got half of Ravunya’s capital city blocked off for it! Sqwee hee hee!"
Beth nearly fell over, apparently finding her joke to be incredibly funny.
---
In the kitchen, Tomahawk crushed another egg.
Clear and yellow liquid oozed between its fingers and fell onto the pan below. The whites began to cook with pieces of egg shell imbedded in them.
It was third egg Tomahawk had tried to crack properly. The first dropped and busted on the floor, slipping out of the robot's hands. The second was smacked so hard against the counter it actually dented it and broke the egg in a similar manner to the third.
The machine stared at the pan as though the egg situation would miraculously cure itself if it stared hard enough.
Eventually, it disposed of the failed eggs and tried again.
Tomahawk moved its lengthy fingers around another egg. It waited some time before positioning its hands over the counter again. It cracked the egg rather softly, too soft, in fact. It used the same force again and finally broke the egg properly.
It opened the shell onto the buttered pan and watched silently as it realized it broke the yolk. It watched it run amongst the whites in what could have been quiet agony.
[Everyone is getting scrambled today,] it mumbled to itself as it began to mix the egg with a spatula. It glanced out of the window, seeing Kaede and Snake’s spat. It made a strange, buzzing sound, as though it was sighing.

Clockwork Island.
It had been where he had conducted his first real adventure of justice, friendship, and love.
Hm, perhaps not love...No, no, he was sure there was some love in there, justice always came with love. Yes, an adventure of love. He thought to himself. Dispensing the great wonders of justice upon all and vanquishing creatures of clockwork had been so fun. Now, after that adventure, he knew even more than ever that being a travelling hero of the world was his destiny. And...the friendship was...He couldn't believe it.
He was part of a crew. He was in a league of heroes. They...they actually accepted him. They wanted him. They would travel the world together in an amazing odduessuy of goodwill! Ever since they had left Clockwork Island, he had wanted to scream. And scream he had, actually, for the first few hours since they left, out of pure joy and happiness. But, that had happened a while ago....maybe. He thought so. He had no idea.
At the moment, Shroud Demon had been wandering around the ship. He had thought of familia...
familiaa...
familililiaer...ize...ing?
Making himself famililiar with the ship. The vessel of honesty and friendship, powered by dreams. Of course, what else could it possibly be? As he wandered the majestic halls, he found himself looking into the kitchen. He crept inside, careful to not make a sound. He took a few large steps towards Konner...and was soon right besides him. He stared intently at the pan, as if he could actually see past the bucket and into the whites of the egg. Surprisingly enough, he didn't say anything, just watching as his robot friend did the careful work. He could have been considered to be in the robot's personal space...Whatever that was. At one point, he actually piped up, although it was actually in a rather shy, quiet voice; nothing like his usual language of shouts.
"...Um...Is...Is there any way that...I...can...try?"
He even seemed to cringe with each of the last words, as if ready to retreat at any instant. If he was able to actually look at the window and see what friendly sparring was occurring on the deck, he didn't show it. No, for now, the priority was the cooking and his robot friend.

"He has more weaknesses than his mother. Everyone does."
Seeing Snake getting all uppity, Kaede sighed in annoyance, particularly when he shoved her feet off. Turning to the side of her chair to put her feet on the ground she opened the bag which was sitting right nearby. Rummaging through, she found a pair of earplugs and put them in, hoisting the bag to her shoulder and rising to a stand. She didn't grab her staff yet though, she still had a hand inside the bag.
"When will you learn? I figured after getting so far down the path, you'd know not to mess with a regulator. Solaine should do a better job teaching so I don't have to. Oh, and Beth... look away."
With her free hand she clenched her nose shut and drew a deep breath to hold her mouth closed. From her bag she drew a stun grenade with the pin already loosed, dropped it at her feet and kicked it between herself and Snake. It was a good thing she was wearing goggles and gloves, though for anything else in the vicinity with senses, well... not like they had time to prepare.
Without the grenade to hold onto, she picked up the melonade again, waiting till it was safe to drink.

Snake turned his head furiously towards Beth, his face red with fury and embarrassment.
"D-don't talk about my mother like that, Beth! I'll kill you-"
Noticing Kaede reach into her bag, Snake snapped his attention back to the young regulator and readied his whip in his hand. His eyes narrowed as he worked his powers of perception. In moments of intense focus time always seemed to slow ever so slightly for him, he saw Kaede pull the odd object out of the backpack. The moment she dropped it to the floor he caught her closing her mouth, plugging her ears. It was a weapon that attacked the senses. Clever, but not enough.
As Kaede's foot wound back ever so slightly for the small kick to send the grenade over to Snake, his arm was already coming through to send his whip in an arcing motion. Before the grenade had a chance to travel more than a few inches across the floor, Snake's whip already had lobbed the disabling weapon over the railing and into the ocean. '
He took a deep breathe again as time resumed its normal pace for him, his eyes which had become somewhat slitted in his focus relaxed into circles again. With a few deft flicks of his arm, he marked the wooden deck around Kaede with a few vicious whip cracks, three in total. One seeming to burn and splinter the wood just centimeters from her toes, and similar markings to her left and right.
The warrior prince spun his whip and wrapped it around his forearm in one deft gesture as he pointed his hand at Kaede in the manner of a gun. Bang.
"Down. Three times. We're even, Kaede."
Of course, knowing the young girl's surprising skill in combat, Snake wasn't sure if those three whip lashes would have even connected or been sufficient to take her out of the fight. But he just wanted her to know, he wasn't going to sit around and let her pummel on him, not when he was actually aware.
"Cheh. I've got no reason or desire to be messing with 'regulators'. I'm just annoyed that one of them has attacked me unprovoked three times already."
Satisfied for the moment, Snake slung his coiled whip over his right shoulder, bearing no ill will to Kaede at the moment now that he had proven his point. He turned to Beth with his usual crooked and toothy smile.
"Good mornin' to ya Beth. Been a while hasn't it? Mind filling me in on what I've missed?"
Had anyone else insulted his mother, Queen Selena of Ravunya, Snake would have had to destroy them to protect and preserve his good mother's honor. It was his duty not only as a Prince, but as a Son. But Beth was an old good friend of his, one that he trusted. He was glad to see her, it was good to see all of them. Even the brat, Kaede. Well, okay, not so much her.
Maybe she'll grow on me, mused Snake to himself with a wry smile.

Beth seized laughing when Kaede called for her to shut her eyes. Fortunately, Snake disposed of the grenade in his own, intuitive way.
Still, she did not approach the two, cautious of whatever the young girl might pull next. There was no winning around people like Solaine and Kaede. It was the only reason she was comfortable with leaving her son with the Smith Twins around the former.
Beth placed her hand on her head in response Snake's question. She seemed to have trouble recalling what she was supposed to say. She likely had other things on her mind from her adventures past the portal.
"Well, we were in Clockwork Island, and we met again and then something happened toward the end. I'm not sure why but I can't remember certain things... I mean, I know I should be concerned about Quinn..."
Beth looked toward the kitchen to see Tomahawk working at the stove. She frowned as though disappointed in something. She placed her hand on the healing bruise on her face.
"We're getting Connor a suitable body. We had to put his brain in Tomahawk's head after your... confrontation..."
---
At Shroud Demon's question, Tomahawk dropped and broke another egg on the floor.
Oh right, it thought. I forgot this guy was here.
The man inside the machine tried to imagine how tall or short he truly was in comparison to the guy. He seemed so small from his height.
[Please, if you would, crack the remainder of the eggs into this pan, and then fetch a plate for me.]
It sounded like a machine's attempt at impersonating a human voice.
[Thank you,] it simply said, not looking at the bucket helmeted man once. It was grateful for his help, but was not sure how to express with without any facial expressions.
It was then that it realized Shroud Demon had been wearing a bucket for a very long time. In fact, as long as he had known him, he wore a bucket.
[H-how do you see, Mister... Shroud Demon?]
Tomahawk said the name as though questioning the very nature of the name itself. It kept stirring and cooking the eggs.

The Shroud Demon perked up instantly when Konner told him what to do and went back to the booming voice he had constantly used at Clockwork Island. "Do not worry, fine chef! I shall!" The Shroud Demon looked at the eggs for a while at first, listening to Konner's strange question.
"Yes, Shroud Demon, that is what I am. I am the Shroud Demon, a bringer of light and justice upon all! I defend the weak from darkness and vanquish the demonic evil. In that way, yes, I am the Shroud Demon. And...what do you mean, how do I see?" His voice changed back to a normal-sounding, albeit somewhat high-pitched noise on the last sentence and what he said after. "I see the same way you and everyone else do, Mr. Robot Man", rapping the machine's cold exterior with his knuckles for emphasis, "I see by seeing. I wear this helmet in order to protect myself at all times and because I remember that a lot of people told me that justice is blind and if justice is blind, then I must be blind as well, except that I am not blind, I can still see perfectly fine, well not too perfectly, but I know just where you are because I can see you. " He almost sounded just a little little condescending at the last part, as if trying to teach something to an adorable child. His voice then returned to the high volume it was known for. "Ah, yes! I am so sorry, my ally! My friend of steel and in steel or through steel! I shall crack your eggs as you wish."
With that, the Shroud Demon grabbed one of the eggs raised his arm as high as he could, and threw it into the pan with as much force as he could muster. The egg flew like a bullet, crashing into the pan like an asteroid colliding with a celestial body. The shell broke into several pieces that grew in number until the white exterior was no more than a collection of soft shards that spread across the cooking tool, making its presence known. The egg and yolk itself had met the pan with a splat and turned into a complete and utter mess. With no hesitation, the Shroud Demon did the same with the rest of the eggs, slamming them down into the pan with much vindication. After that, he went for the nearest plate eglible for Konner's culilinury arts and slammed it into the kitchentop, with the fact that the plate had not shattered on impact being a miracle.
One could practically feel the joy and pride emanation from the Shroud Demon, along with his desire to serve. He was truly doing good.

Right, that's good, touch the grenade. There we go, that was easy.
Kaede knew a thing or two about Snake, more than just what she had learned from her fights with him as Solaine had done her fair share of research on the Prince, and it would have been dumb to not read through it. He wasn't even a normal human, so she would have to take a less conventional approach to fighting him. As expected, the stun grenade didn't go off until it was tossed overboard, and all she had the chance to react to was the lashing of the whip at her feet. Naturally she drew back in response for fear of being struck, even if it wasn't Snake's intent to do so.
"Down. Three times. We're even, Kaede."
"Nothing will ever make us even."
With an slight hint of worry creeping across her face, she watched as he actually wrapped the whip around his arm. That was bad, but then she hadn't expected him to just turn his back on her and end the fight like that. At least this gave her the chance to prep what was now necessary without having to worry about outside hindrance from Snake or whoever else.
Unprovoked? Don't get a bounty on your head and start stalking people, and you won't get attacked.
Setting her bag on the ground and lowering to her knees, she raised her surgical mask and put on another glove. Drawing forth a plastic bottle she unscrewed the lid and poured the contents all over her gloves, a good portion of the stuff splashing on the deck beneath and leaving the strong smell of bleach. With that taken care of she began searching through, and started pulling out containers and arranging them next to the bag ever so nearly. She had most of what she needed, but still had to get something from the kitchen. Getting up she headed past the other two nearby, calling to them as she went past.
"Good mornin' to ya Beth. Been a while hasn't it? Mind filling me in on what I've missed?"
"Well, we were in Clockwork Island, and we met again and then something happened toward the end. I'm not sure why but I can't remember certain things... I mean, I know I should be concerned about Quinn... We're getting Connor a suitable body. We had to put his brain in Tomahawk's head after your... confrontation..."
"Beth don't get too close to him, he and the snake are going to have trouble breathing. Bodies are going to lock up as well, probably start to feel sick, but don't help them and don't get close."
Continuing onto the kitchen she stopped mid-stride for a moment, a mixture of confusion and something else when seeing what Connor and the bucket head were up to. Cooking it seemed, but she was already of a degree of certainty that she wasn't going to eat anything they made. Figured it was better just to forget about it, she made her way over to the cabinets, opening and rummaging through them for a mop bucket or something else.
"Good morning Connor and... Justice Man. It shouldn't be long now before we reach Colyne, hoping it hasn't moved too much..."
---
Some short time later and she was back on deck with her bag and the containers she had drawn from it, preparing a mixture in the bucket she had brought. It was only a matter of time before the really nasty side-effects of the contact poison took their toll on Snake and Luis, and she hoped to have a fix ready before that. After all, it would be better if Snake was on top of his game when they reached their destination. Toxicology was a fickle mistress, and Kaede would be taking a lot of fire from Solaine if the mission she had been tasked with did not go well, let alone if Snake was unduly harmed.
She was beginning to curse her over eagerness to prove herself.

Beth rarely obeyed anyone without question. However, during their travels, she learned to always listen to Kaede. Perhaps it was that she did not have a firm grasp on whatever topic the girl was usually talking about. Medical, scientific and technological terms tended to make Beth's head spin. Her solution to most of her problems was that if it wasn't fixed by a punch, she wasn't punching it hard enough.
She tightened her belt around her loose pants as she watching the effects of the poison on Snake and his whip. She grimaced and looked away slightly, hating to watch anyone suffer any kind of pain.
"A poisoned snake," she muttered. "Weird."
As Kaede walked back out, Beth immediately confronted her as long as she could without getting in range of Snake.
"Hey, he's going to be alright, isn't he? What you did, that was just to prove a point, right?"
---
[That... I'm not sure what to say to that,] the man through steel said. This man was altogether too confusing. If he was a warrior against demons, why was his name Shroud Demon? That implied he was one of them.
Tomahawk brought its hand up to its face and peered at it. There seemed to be a red filter over everything the robot saw, like the world was full of painful things. The mind inside the machine knew there was no real, logic way Shroud Demon could see past the bucket on his head. There had to be some kind of trick. Was the bucket a two-way mirror?
Shroud Demon began smashing the eggs onto the pan. Tomahawk froze with its hands extended outward. It then brought them slowly up to its head and began to step away from the stove. It backed all the way into the corner of the kitchen and folded itself, much like it had in its stay at the Happy Happy Restaurant. It said nothing and kept its head low. It suffered silently in its agony.
Tomahawk raised one hand up to acknowledge Kaede then continued to mope. The eggs began to burn on the pan.

Snake found it odd that Luis had not emerged from his whip state after striking the grenade away. Had he fallen asleep? Or was this one of his lazy days?
After being gifted the cunning and wise Zoan weapon by Raenar, Snake and Luis had spent very nearly every moment together in their combined journeys. Because of this, Snake had learned almost all the snake whip's habits and even bits of his personality.
Luis was an old soul, as old as Raenar and that was...pretty old. Or so Snake assumed, he'd never had the courage to actually ask the retired bounty hunter just how old he really was.
But for the anaconda whip to remain so silent for so long especially after that little fiasco it was odd...
Focusing, Snake felt what seemed to be a foreboding aura coming from the snakeskin whip, was Luis trying to tell him something? The realization came too late as Snake felt the poison working on him. His eyelid twitched in what seemed to be anger, though it could have just been the poison working on his body.
"C-cowardly."
The warrior prince gagged a little as he gritted his teeth, willing his body to keep standing and combat the unknown poison that Kaede had affected him with. His heart seemed to be beating unusually hard and loud, as if trying to force his blood through his veins faster.
As his body stiffened up, Snake eventually fell down to one knee. Stubbornly refusing to fall or bow his head in weakness, the crown prince kept his head up and his arms at his sides. A hateful and incredulous glare burning up at Kaede as his body continued to stiffen. He felt a dull pain beginning all over his body, but he could not even give voice to his anger as his jaw was locked from the odd and painful effects of the toxin.

"If I was trying to prove a point, he'd be dead."
Kaede spoke without looking up from her work, there wasn't time to dawdle. Another few minutes and she seemed content with something she had worked up. Holding a beaker thick with particulates in one hand and dragging the bucket with the other, she moved over to Snake to make sure he didn't become the ghost Prince of Ravunya. She still had her gloves and goggles on, and with the surgical mask it might have been hard to make out all of what she was saying.
"This was a test run for the new batch. Thought it would do the trick, but it looks like that was a bit much... eesh, hope the damage isn't permanent. Can you even imagine what the strong stuff is like?"
She could. Carcinogen-tastic! It was a good thing she stuck with the weaker stuff; Ravunya would not be pleased if its royal line ended at Snake.
Since she was occupied with the Prince she hadn't been paying much attention to Beth, and absentmindedly gestured for her to get back, wherever she was. Leaning down she started examining him as though he were an unconscious patient or something, pulling back his eyelids, opening his mouth and snapping her gloved fingers in front him and the like. Speaking to herself as she went, she tried to figure out what extent the poison had taken on him, and how much he would need to counteract it.
"C-cowardly."
That he wasn't actually an unconscious patient didn't phase her at all.
"Why, because I don't use a magic whip to do my fighting for me? Or maybe I should switch to my legendary diamond sword? You have your weapons, I have mine. Oh right, I'm going to need that whip as well as your jacket, before I forget."
Without warning she took the hand he had held the whip with and plunged it into the bucket. A slight burning sensation would follow. It was a good pain. After that she pulled open a packet containing some pills, emptied it into the particulate substance of the beaker and held it up to his mouth.
"Open wide~"
---
A short nap and maybe a puke or two, and Snake would be right as rain. Already Kaede had gone through the process of cleaning his jacket and the whip, so by the time she was done it would be well long enough for Snake to have made it over the poisoning. Conveniently enough it was about the same time that their destination could be sighted. Still very small in the distance, but given the size of it, it would be hard to miss; a large hourglass looking formation. Only, there was much smoke trailing up from all the sides of it. Because of the distance away it might be somewhat hard to properly deduce its size, but even from where they were, conservative estimates would place it as massive.
Visible more closely than that, was what appeared to be a line of floating objects across the expanse of the waves, ships. The group would reach them relatively soon, though very much sooner than the destination itself. A keen eye, or a robotic one, could identify them as Navy vessels.
Kaede on the other hand was far too occupied with sorting through her supplies to store them in her bag after having gotten them out. She had with her, resting on the chair she had previously been in (sitting on the floor now herself), Snake's whip and jacket. Cleaned of any nasty poisons and ready to go. The jacket in particular, might seem almost unnoticeably heavier, but then she did have to give it a chemical bath.

The Shroud Demon laid on the deck of the Lucky Ducky, his slim body bathing in the rays of the magnificent sun. Moments ago, he had helped Konner with the cooking with great gusto, undoubtededly being a large part of what would most obviously be a great-tasting meal. A meal of true heroes. Yes.
When the hourglass came into view, the Shroud Demon...did nothing, not showing any sign of knowing that it was there. Perhaps because he was looking into the sky or perhaps because the bucket was still on his head. Perhaps both. His limbs were outstretched like that of a starfish, and he sighed in content.
"So, my great allies, when shall we embark on the next great quest? Do you crusaders fight evildoers every day, or is each adventure full of training and morals and lessons first? Or, would that be during the adventure...Or after? So, where are we going?"

"Hurkkkk...."
Snake spat out the last of the toxins that had been riddling his body, shuddering as he recalled the taste of whatever Kaede had fed him out of that beaker. He snarled a little as he wiped a rag across his mouth. Standing up, he discarded the rag into the ocean where he had been vomiting. He had fallen asleep shortly after Kaede's treatment, and a rude awakening in the form of the intense need to vomit had caused him to rush over to the side of the ship.
"Damn her."
Finding the aftertaste of acids and poison in his mouth to be unpleasant, Snake began walking toward the ship's kitchen. His leather jacket and Luis were still with Kaede, and so Snake strode around wearing a simple light silver dress shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, and a brown vest woven of what seemed to be brown plant fibers.
His worn black boots clinked as he strode across the wooden deck, the scratched metal plates on the soles accentuating each step he made. His mother had forced her way into his wardrobe the day after he'd finished organizing his meager belongings in the giant space. She had been about to incinerate his old boots with a torch until he had convinced her to let him keep them.
"They're a remnant, a painful reminder of an old life that wasn't supposed to even happen for you, Luan. Why keep them?"
"I'm proud of what I've been through and what I have accomplished, Mom. Proud of it, just like I'm proud to be Ravunyan, and proud to be you and Father's son."
Snake shook his head to clear his thoughts. It hadn't been long after that particular day when he had been sent notice that he would be fighting with Connor his his spot in the Grand Path. And after that...
The Crown Prince frowned as he realized he had not been home for perhaps two or three months now. Snake grimaced in pain as he thought of how much work and papers might have stacked up by now.
Kicking open the door to the kitchen, he looked to the corner. A flicker of disgust crossed his face as he beheld Tomonner curled up int he corner like an infant.
Ignoring him for the moment, Snake strode over to the pantry and busied himself with getting some bread and cheese to snack on. Without turning his back he addressed his sometime friend, and sometimes opponent.
"What's wrong with you? We're doing all this for you and all you can do is sit pathetically in that corner like a whipped dog."
There was no heat to his words, it was casual, brief, almost condescending as if he were challenging Connor.

Beth leaned against the railing, looking at the hourglass shaped landmass with quiet wonder. She tapped her fingers, completely lost in thought. It was Shroud Demon's question that broke her from her daze.
"I think we'll be arriving at our nice "quest" soon," she said with an unsure smile. "I can see something on the sea now, though I'm not sure what. I'm guessing it's this Eight Gates, Cologne or whatever Kaede and Connor were talking about.
"I tend to see the moral of my adventures after they happen. Life is all too similar to stories we hear as children. It takes open eyes to realize that."
Her statement was rather odd, considering Shroud Demon's bucket situation. The tone of her voice carried a certain amount of respect for the oddity. Since his triumphant attempts to save his people on Clockwork Island, she could not help but admire his courage.
Beth narrowed her eyes at the structure beyond. She turned back toward the deck.
"Has Kaede seen this thing yet, you think?"
---
Thoughts rolled inside the machine's mind; a rabbit was caught in a caged trap made of twigs and yarn. I'll finally have some dinner tonight.
Tomahawk lifted its head with a whirl and buzz, only now just noticing Snake in the room, despite his loud entrance. It creaked and stood carefully, trying not to bump into the wall. As it approached the stove slowly, the mind inside it noticed Snake's jacket and whip were missing. He tried to recall a time he had seen him without them.
At first, the machine remained silent and went about cleaning the remains of the attempt at scrambled eggs, ended by Shroud Demon. It nearly tensed up from being in the same room as Snake. The guilt Connor felt over consequences of his failure in the Grand Path, and now not being able to control Tomahawk properly, was almost unbearable. He tried to come up with some excuse.
Tomahawk said.
The machine lifted one of its long pointer fingers toward Snake's choice of food.
[You know, you could make some cheese bread with that stuff, or... I think you'd like grilled cheese. Many people think grilled cheese is just bread, cheese and butter but with different cheeses you could add peppers, sausage, bacon and other things too. I've even tried apples and pears slices...
