My REAL problem with this movie was my expectations.
The trailers I had seen all pointed to Brave being this awesome action animated movie, something more along the lines of Tangled. It turned out to be incredibly slow and I found it rather lame.
The art was awesome, the humor was meh (the only funny thing being the twins and the clan leaders, but they were such an obvious comic relief it kinda made them suck a little.)
i can't give a good review, 'cause i expected so much and got so little

Finally got around to watching this and I have to say that I was severely disappointed. Everything about it was mere cliche and quite frankly, the overall plot was not something I was expecting. Still not as bad as Cars 2, but it is definitely at the bottom of my Pixar movie list.

It's Freaky Friday with bears.
I remember when this first came out and people were praising it like the second coming of Jesus, and I was just like "Yeah, it's not that great."
And now that time has passed and people have a chance to look at it, the general consensus is that it's not that great. Still better than Cars 2 though.

Yeah. Final verdict: Shark has no idea what he's talking about.

Just because Shark was correct doesn't make his opinion any less wrong.

Just because Shark was correct doesn't make his opinion any less wrong. That is literally the dumbest thing said this thread.

I thought it was a mixture between Freaky Friday and Brother Bear. But I do agree that it was better than Cars 2.
Also, it so did not deserve to win the Academy Award for best Animated movie. I thought Frankenweenie and Wreck-It-Ralph was a lot better. I think the Academy just gave it to Pixar.

Feelings on the movie set aside, you guys DO remember that story isn't the only thing considered for Best Animated Movie, right? Haven't seen the Tim Burton one, (Or ParaNorman, or Pirates!, but I at least plan to see the latter two) but while Wreck-it Ralph may or may not have a better story than Brave, you really can't say that Brave isn't superior in other areas, namely voice acting and animation. I mean... come on! Look at that animation! LOOK AT IT!
The Oscars are crap, but only because they don't have separate awards for animation and voice acting. Which they should. Seriously.

If you're going on animation, then ParaNorman should have won. By a wide, wide margin.

So far, I've only seen Frankenweenie, Wreck-It-Ralph, Pirates, and Brave. Out of all those, I would rank Brave last in terms of OVERALL animated feature. While the animation is superb (as always from Pixar), it still did not hold up against the others. I have not seen ParaNorman yet.

I just watched ParaNorman and yes, the animation was incredible.
