At the suddenness of the attack, the chains surely found their mark, and thwacked into Akki like any sort of sentient lengths of metal would. With a yelp she was knocked off her feet, but perhaps in a stroke of luck, in the direction she had been running since she was struck from behind while being between the pirate and the harp.
In a tumble she hit the ground with a painful roll, but came to rest about as close to the harp as she was going to get. It was almost certain that the pirate wouldn't cease his attack with just one hit, particularly considering she hadn't yet been struck by all of them. As she leaned up and raked her hands across the lower ends of the strings she could reach though, emitting an outwards blast of force similar to the one earlier. A defensive attack, it caused no wanton destruction but could very likely disrupt the chains at least, as though they were subject to an unequal and violent shaking.
Hoping this to work, Akki planned to move to a better position by which she could properly play the instrument.

Bardsey was surprised at how quickly his enemy was able to recover, but then again, given the importance of this battle, he shouldn't have expected anything less. Not wanting to let her get away, after so many precious minutes lost running after her, he tried striking again, this time driving forward the spiked ends of the chains first.
However, what he didn't anticipate was the exact consequence of Akki reaching the harp. Indeed disoriented, the chains veered off course, and would have missed the musician entirely. Disoriented and just a bit perturbed, the captain raised a single eyebrow in confusion, and waited, for only an instant, to see if this would be followed up with anything else, and possibly wait for his opponent to regain her bearings, before the chains advanced again, utilizing the indirect path the harp forced them on, to snake around Akki and approach her from both sides, intending more to restrain her, than to actively wound her.

Akki didn't have to think twice about the instant afforded to her when the chains were disrupted. By the time they continued on their course though and started to snake around her, she was in a proper playing stance. With a deep breath she brought her hands to place, and her fingers began to draw across the strings of the white harp. The sound that crept forth was the beginning of a song, but in the opening crescendo there was a flurry of sharp notes that were intentionally directed.
It might have been rather sudden but there was no warning process to it, no ongoing means of observing what the effect was. In a simple moment, a massive but precise force lashed out from no clear direction to outright sever the chains at some point between her and Bardsey. Unlike the desperate reaction before to try and deliver blunt trauma to the chains to destabilize them, this was a direct application of her capability, orchestrated with surgical precision. The intent wasn't basic self-defense, but specifically to sever the lengths of metal extending from Bardsey's person. In this way it all came down to the pirate captain and his chains, notably their composition since the harp was unbounded by how much it could damage, only what it could damage.
