The controller in the last video is said to be the PS4 controller. Actually, that was the dev kit controller, so it may not look exactly like that when the final product is dropped.
But yes, as a Sony fan, I am definitely looking forward to it.

I hope it's basically just like the current controller, but they add in the screen they're talking about to the middle. Don't change the shape I say, it's been the same for like, 15+ years now.

It was awesome. So stoked for the new Infamous and Killzone games. Was so hoping for an Uncharted 4 announcement, but I guess Sony could not reveal all of its cards just yet.
The system specs and what they are promising is all very impressive. I have a little apprehensions about the no backward compatibility though, but they did say it will work itself out in due time. Still, to me, it should be immediate, especially with my giant back stock of games.
Also, Knack is not a Naughty Dog game. It is being developed by Japan Studio.
While I do not have a Vita (I want one solely for the Uncharted and Assassin's Creed game), I am intrigued by how they want to utilize it. My guess is that it would be similar to how the WiiU controller works?
Still, Capcom's new IP, Square's promise of a FF game announcement at E3, Destiny by Bungie...A lot to look forward too. Sony really came out swinging.
Now, UNCHARTED 4 PLEASE!!!!!!

You guys aren't at all a little apprehensive of the heavy focus on social media?

Not really. If you are worried about security purposes, then I heard that there is a way to turn off the feature of having your actual name shown and just using your PSN.
Now, in terms of them focusing on social media for the basis of their system and not looking into innovation, then perhaps. Everything I saw from their conference was something I expected was going to come to fruition in terms of online experience. I believe, and this goes with Microsoft as well, that they want faster GPU and CPUs, as well as hard drives so downloaded games, via Cloud or from another source, will eliminate used games. I'm okay with this since stores like Gamestop are ruining the game industry.
Now the games shown, while I am exited about the new Infamous and Killzone, as well as the seemingly new IPs from Capcom, the games looks more of the same with beefed graphical power. But this is to be expected from probably launch window titles. It will take developers a couple years to fully unlock what the new system is capable of, like the PS3.
Don't worry too much about all the social media, I am sure this was the highlight of Sony's conference and not the pinnacle of the PS4. I am sure there is a lot of information and tech specs that Sony did not divulge. Remember, they either said the system of controller comes with the Eye, something Sony could turn into a Kinect like apparel, though I am sure it would be a lot better.
With all this said, I am curious Shark, what did you want to see? You probably had some large scale ideas of what you wanted. (This goes for your Morc, I am curious).

It took years for people to get the hang of the PS3 because it had the Cell Processor, which was a completely different architecture than what anyone was used to. Devs were leery of making games for it because it was notoriously hard to navigate and code for, hence why for a long time PS3 had no games. Now that Sony switched back to x86, you can expect not only many more people willing to work with and and do ports more easily, but it won't even take years to fully maximize the potential. Maybe a year at best One thing I agree with for certain, despite whatever flaws the PS4 may have; the specs were a good choice, and it's almost certain that PS4 will be getting great games right from the start. Of this, I'm optimistic about. See I *am* worried about the focus on social media, because while you said Gamestop is killing the industry, I think the appeal to casuals is ruining the industry. That focus on always trying to get a bigger audience has really changed things, and in my opinion in many ways, has made things worse. I'm not saying I'm opposed to social media and stuff like that, but I don't want games to be proprietary. From the conference, to me it seemed like they were trying to display social integration and inter connectivity machine first, and a video game console second. With all this said, I am curious Shark, what did you want to see? You probably had some large scale ideas of what you wanted. (This goes for your Morc, I am curious). What would I liked to have seen? The PS4.

All I care about is the games. I bought an Xbox360 for one reason, it had all the RPGS exclusivly. Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, Magncarta2, Infinite Undiscovery. Having Dead Rising and Fable as exclusives also greatly helped. But now PS3 rectified that they gt some of teh games later like star ocean and gt their own exclusives like Atelier and Hyperdimensiona nd a few obscure ones liek Ar Tonelico. since the xbox bombed in japan. the rpg developers have switched back to sony. so PS4 will have all the rpgs, Infamous, god of war and who knows what else while xbox will come along with Fable and i really donts ee the oint in buying the new xbox just for fable. so yip all i care about is the games so micrsoft better have something up there sleeve other than constant shooters like Halo and Gears of War. as for the social stuff I'm sure u can ignore it if u wish ps4's 11th game is the witcher 3 - uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/21/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-confirmed-for-playstation-4really wnated witcher 2 but my xbox died before i could get it so glad tos ee its continuing. 6 games outta 11, ps4 is looking great to me.

For me, having all the social networking integrated into the console does not really matter. As long as Sony and developers continue to make great games, then I am okay with it all. I can understand your apprehension about Sony seemingly focusing on the social aspect during the conference, but I think with the showings of the new Killzone and Infamous games, I do not have to worry too much.
Just to include, there probably won't be a large graphical upgrade from the PS3 to the PS4 like there was from the PS2 to the PS3, but I think with the upgraded processing power, what I do think we will see is a huge output in how large the games will be, better texturing. skins, and if David Cage has his way, attention to every detail.
But to answer your question, I would have liked to have seen the console, but again, Sony does have to save a few aspects of their console for later show dates such as E3. I am can almost guarantee that Sony will have the PS4 playable at E3 along with several launch titles.
Another thing, I really, really wanted to see Uncharted 4. I know Naughty Dog split their studio into two teams, one working on The Last of Us and the other on an unspecified "next-gen" game. But again, E3 is what I'm hoping for.
Now, the one thing I am concerned about is no backward compatibility with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. That guy said Gaikai will change this but I am curious as to how. I mean, I have no plans on removing my PS3, so this really does not affect me, but I can understand other people's frustrations. I think Sony is dropping the ball on this one, something they need to change.
Lastly, the Share button does have me intrigued. Not sure if it will upload videos or whatever to Youtube, but that would be awesome. There was a play I did in Madden a few weeks back that I wanted to share, but couldn't lol.
@morc,
See, all those RPs you just mentioned never appealed to me, which is why I never got an XB360. Now, all Microsoft has going for it is Halo and Gears. Fable, from what I have been told my some, has lost its majesty over the years.

From what I heard, the backwards compatibility will be based on the cloud gaming, so it will be backwards compatible insofar as PS3 was backwards compatible with games released on the PSN. From what I heard, since you won't be able to just shove a PS3 disk in the console and start playing, they'll be making a much greater effort to include games on the PSN that aren't already. Apparently, they'll try and put the whole entire PS3 library on the PSN before the PS4 is released. I just hope they include that kind of attention to PS2 and PS1 games, as there's still a bunch that I used to have/play that are not on the PSN but I would buy to play again.
@morc
Most of what you said makes sense, but please tell me you don't actually play Hyperdimension games.
