After a short while of searching Vasilica came across a statue that to his surprise asked for his greatest desire and this was a very hard question for him to answer. Vasilica was the ultimate servant and had been trained for that since birth, but only serving others meant he would always put his master's wishes ahead of his. He lacked a self, so to speak.
“Oh. Please give me a moment to think through this properly.” Even when talking to statues it was important to mind your manners. However no matter how hard he would think Vasilica could not figure out what he should wish for.
In the end, after a quite long while of pondering, Vasilica did give an answer, asking for the one thing he wanted. “My apologies for the wait. What I desire is a plate of muschi pestera, a delicacy from my homeland. I have not had any of it since I left on this journey. So please, oh great statue, grant me my wish.” The food Vasilica had wished was not quite what it might have seemed at first. It was one of those foods that some people would claim to be delicious, but it in fact looked nasty, smelled nasty and tasted nasty. It was made out of moss growing inside of a cave and that is all anyone would need to know about its edibility.

The statue was silent, save for its glowing eyes, while Vasillica thought until he finally gave an answer.
"Muschi pestera?" said the statue. "What of immortality? Infinite wealth? The love of your life?" The glowing eyes turned red. "You stand before endless, immeasurable power, and you wish for nothing of value? Do you jest? You wish to make a fool of me?"
Suddenly, the statue freed itself from the wall, its limbs moving almost mechanically as it stood upright. At the sight, the shadow creatures fled, melding into the cave walls. The statue pulled a sword from its sheath, a golden sword embedded with hundreds of gems.
"I am the treasure in the mountain," said the statue. "I am the wealth of this nation. I have granted endless wishes." The statue moved and behind it was revealed a golden sealed door. "And those who wish I grant are allowed through my gate into eternal bliss."
The statue raised its sword. "Yet you, you who deny my glory, shall not pass!" The ground beneath their feet began to shake and the glowing crystals on the walls began to flicker.
With incredible speed, at least twice, maybe three times faster than the shadow creatures, the statue jumped towards Vasillica, swinging his golden sword.
---
Talia was surprised to see the shadow creature flee, and even more surprised when the ground began to shake.
"This is what happened last time!" said King William, the frog, who had just entered the cave behind Talia. "When the black ink first came to shore and entered the mountain, the entire island began to shake!"
"Then let's go," said Talia. She and William ran deeper into the cave, trying to find Vasillica, where ever he may be. "Vasillica must have found something. For some reason, I've got a really bad feeling." She recalled her terrible luck. "More than usual," she added.

It seemed like the statue was not pleased with Vasilica's wish and not only did it refuse to grant it the statue got aggressive and now began attacking him. “I am terribly sorry. I did not mean to offend you.” Trying to diffuse the situation Vasilica now started backpedalling on his wish trying to please the wish granting statue. “Immortality? That sounds pleasant. I wish to lead life eternal so please grant me that, oh great statue.”
While trying to talk his way out of this mess Vasilica tried this best to keep the distance from the statue so that he would not get hurt. It wasn't all that easy though as the statue was lot faster than what you would expect from something so seemingly heavy.

The statue would have continued his relentless attack, but stopped when Vasillica decided to go with Immortality.
"Eternal life, you ask?" The statue stood straight and sheathed his golden sword. The earth beneath their feet stopped shaking. "Very well, my child. Your wish shall be granted."
At that moment, Talia and King Willaim arrived, and both looked quite stunned at the talking statue.
"W-what's going on, Vasillica?" asked Talia.
The statue turned to Talia and King William and frowned deeply. "The two of you are cursed," he said. "And a cursed creature such as yourselves will never be allowed in my heaven." He turned back to Vasillica. "You, however, I shall allow entry."
The statue moved back to the doorway and waved a hand. With a thundering noise, it slid open. Beyond was a blinding white light. "Enter, and have your life eternal."
Talia whispered to King William. "What is that thing?"
"I've never seen it," said King Willaim. "And look, the shadow creatures are all bowing before it. Whatever it is, it must have arrived at the same time the shadow creatures did...."
"And what do we do?"
"I can feel the power emanating from that statue... it's on a different level than all of us! Perhaps you should let your friend go inside. Maybe he can find out what this thing really is, and we'll find a way to join him after."
Talia nodded, but if Vasillica wanted to go through the door or not would be his decision.

Vasilica was quite confused about what was happening; was he already immortal or would it happen later? Maybe he would figure that out soon. At least it seemed like the statue was pleased and wasn't going to attack him anymore.
When Talia asked him what was going on Vasilica calmly replied: “I am not quite sure about that, master. But I shall go and find out. Now please excuse me, master, your highness. I will be back soon, worry you not.”
Having said that Vasilica turned towards the statue, “Very well then. Let us go.”. He opened his umbrella to shield himself from the blinding light and was now ready to go through the pearly gates of heaven. Hopefully there he could truly get to the bottom of this weird situation he was in.
